  1. When the waypoint has elevation above the ground, TGP slaved to that steerpoint will end up in the air. Not sure what to do with that, try setting the elevation of that waypoint manually to 0, maybe it will then update to ground level? (just guessing) Regarding finding the targets, well that's sometimes one of the hardest tasks in life of A-10 pilot. You have to search area around that point and spot the targets visually through TGP. No one said it is easy :-) To the last question, you have to set steerpoint as your SPI (sensor point of interest) with TMS Aft long command. Then slave sensors (including TGP) to SPI using China Hat Forward long command. Then, as you cycle the waypoints, TGP should always show current waypoint (= steerpoint). Edit: forgot to answer your TAD question. There isn't a way to verify there are targets at certain waypoint using TAD as far as I know. There are various ways how to locate targets and you should be informed about how/where you can find targets in mission briefing. Options are: 1) right at specific waypoint (best option), 2) JTAC unit that will designate the targets for you (second best option if you know how to work with JTAC), 3) rough description, such as "in the city", "at the river", etc... then you have to study the map before mission and simply look.
  2. You can fire a maverick from quite a distance and your aircraft doesn't have to be precisely aimed at the target, so just fly leveled towards your target from around 10 nm at about half the throttle and that should give you enough time to comfortably find the target with TGP, slave mavericks to TGP and then just keep pressing (as maxmax wrote) TMS fwd until you get the maverick lock (around 5nm).
  3. Longer versions of those answers ;-) 1) when you turn on CDU and EGI, EGI takes about 4 minutes to align. You cannot move until the process is finished, otherwise your navigation system won't be accurate and you won't be able to turn on EAC. You will know when the alignment is complete: on CDU there will be flashing text: 'INS NAV READY' and few lines below you will see this number: 4.0.0.8 2) For the ILS steering bars to be shown, you have to enable them, they are disabled by default. You can do this on Navigation Mode Select Panel (NMSP) by switching the Stow switch to ABLE position (that's the same panel where you turn ILS on).
  4. Grats mate! Could you link that tutorial, I brought a second screen yesterday and now I'm trying to figure out how to put it to good use.
  5. Did you request inbound from ATC? They should get you on the correct side of runway, at least I never had this kind of incident in my very short, but indeed fruitful career of virtual pilot ;-)
  6. I'm inpatient to get up as quickly as possible, in single player I taxi slowly and just speed up time. In MP .. well .. 30-40? Over 50 even! ;-)
  7. Yesterday evening I couldn't launch A-10, after I installed Windows updates (about 7-8 of them), can it be somehow related to the new patch on Steam? I have bought and installed through Steam (version 1.1.0.8) and when 1.1.0.9 patch came out, I have downloaded and used the patch from ED website. Now that the patch is also available on Steam, could it be that it automatically tried to update and corrupted some files? Looking into logs, there was an error that mission_editor.lua cannot be open (that was right after installing the updates), after I rebooted some other .lua file couldn't be open (don't remember which one). I have also other problems, so after another reboot my both screens one after the other stopped working - lost digital signal so now I only see black screen after I reboot. So I suppose it must be related with the windows updates I installed before (screens work fine in safe mode), will have to revert the updates somehow and then hopefully also a-10 will work again.
  8. As ZoomBoy27 wrote: Num-0 + Num 4 is left MFCD and Num-0 + Num 6 is right MFCD - for as long as you hold it, upon release you will return to your previous view angle/zoom. If you want to stare at MFCDs for longer, then press this shortcut: RCtrl + Num-0, this will put you into panel view. Then pressing Num-1 through Num-9 will show you various panels from up close, without having to hold something pressed. To disengage this panel view, just press Num-0 again. Not having track IR yet, I heavily use these ;-)
  9. Yesterday, I have decided to take a closer look at altimeter, how it works and how the standard IRL procedures are, I have learned what QFE, QNH and QNE codes are etc. I have a couple of questions, though, to which I failed to find answers. 1. Altimeter Source: if I change the source, the altitude doesn't change, at least not by so much to notice the difference. I suppose this is correct, but I would like to know in which scenarios (and if at all) I might want to change it (in simulation and how does that compare to IRL). 2. If I want to tune "altitude" on my altimeter, I simply set the pressure to 2992, that's it? Is this value the same worldwide or is it specific to region in Georgia? 3. Previous question leads to my next one, I am slightly confused as to what is the difference between altitude and flight level. And how to set them in-flight? One of them is I guess 29.92 inHg, is that the global one (QNE)? If so, how do I set altimeter to QNH (altitude)? Thanks for answers :)
  10. Just open comm menu for different radio, as Nomdeplume suggested. So if you use VHF FM for JTAC comms, open UHF or VHF AM and that should open the base menu.
  11. Welcome to the community, Adam. As I find referring to manual during a flight slightly inconvenient, I have created a sheet of HOTAS switches with their functions, most of them on the single page in a friendly format. I have omitted those switches that are obvious (slew, trim) or those I feel comfortable to remember, but you can add them yourself if you miss them. Hope you find them useful. 12. I wonder, what exactly does this special mouse mode do? I haven't played black shark so I don't know what to look for. Regarding Track IR, I am currently considering the purchase, but judging from the videos I have seen so far, it seems to me that changing your view with TIR to let's say operate CDU means to find it first, then carefully adjust to a proper zoom level, and only then start worrying about what you were about to do with the CDU... by that time I would of surely forgotten what I wanted to do :) Whereas right now I just press num0+num2 and there it is in all its beauty and zoom I'm used to. I anticipate some of you will now reply with something in between the lines that you must get used to the device before you can accurately judge its responses... but how is it then that people that apparently are very experienced with the simulator are still not natural with the track IR?? (I trust it's obvious that the previous paragraph is mostly joking, what I want to hear are some rock solid reasons why to have it, that will convince my wife that the investment is necessary... for me at least) :-D
  13. In CDU, go to Flight Plan page (on CDU it is fifth button after sys, nav, waypoint, offset, flight plan). There you will have your flight plan set to AUTO. Clicking the button to the left corresponding with the flight plan will change the advancement mode to MANUAL.
  14. As far as I know, CDU is loaded only with your current mission waypoints and each airport has its waypoint too, they start from number 50 or 51 and one waypoint for anchor point (bullseye, number around 2049). These are added automatically. I don't know if there is a way to add more waypoints to a mission outside of these standard ones in mission editor, I never tried to do that. But you could use Prepare Mission function to create the waypoints in the CDU yourself and then whenever the mission is flown, the waypoints should be present (also never tried myself, anyone?).
  15. I believe such "busy behaviour" could be added in mission editor. One could add some "idle" groups that would go about their business not interfering with the actual mission in any way, basically cycling through their waypoints around the airport, some aircrafts that would take off, fly their patrol flight plan, land, park and wait some predefined time or for a trigger before next round. You would only need couple of such units and some triggers to make the impression. Or play multiplayer with more players, I've seen the airports being quite busy that way ;-) But of course, it would be working best if this would be implemented as part of the game and then only modified through settings (like civil traffic is right now).
  16. I would like to ask how to trim the plane to maintain level flight? I use "trim:" function, but I cannot achieve such state when there would be no pitch/roll at all. In one position the aircraft is still rolling to one side, after one button press it is already rolling to the other side (however slightly). Same with the pitch. The reason why I need this as precisely as possible is aerial refueling. No matter how hard I trim, it will sooner or later (but rather sooner than later) divert from its course and any input from the stick is usually too much to fine-tune to original state. Am I missing something? Thanks for answers ;-)

  18. Why would I ever wanted to extend the ladder in this simulation? Is it just for showing off or does it have some in-game utility?
  19. Hi everyone, I have a question that I cannot find answer to. Two, in fact (while I'm at it) :-) If I contact airport for Inbound, they reply with heading and some number, which I believe is distance. Is it distance from my current position? And how can I measure how many miles have I flown? Or am I supposed to use some other means to navigate to that point? Now for the second question that came to my mind just now: I have noticed that after I switch CDU into NAV mode and select DIVERT -> Airport of choice, it will also change the waypoint set on HUD (there are lot of airport waypoints). How can I get the original set of waypoints back on HUD (mission waypoints that is)? Thanks for answer!
