  1. I let Windows Update grab all updates. Are you suggesting those won't be in the Windows Update?
  2. How do I go about doing this? Everything I've read about updating BIOS is risky, also, every other peripheral I've plugged has done just fine. Any ideas?
  3. Are you all keeping your whole wheel and pedal package plugged into the USB or are you using the pedals VGA connector?
  4. Is that a BIOS setting? I don't use, can you explain a bit more?
  5. Thank you to everyone so far. Unfortunately, after having formatted my SSD, putting every driver back in and setting everything back up, I went to put the X52 Pro driver back on from the internet, followed the instructions, plugged my controller into a black USB 2.0 port and actually made it to what I assume is one of the last screens. I had gotten to the point where I could test the deadzones, change the LED's, etc, clicked OK and it had a green progress bar emerge, followed by another that just.....froze again. No luck. I rebooted the computer and the throttle side LED's wouldn't light up but the stick side would. It also otherwise prevented me from opening programs (like MSi afterburner etc). I called Saitek tech support earlier today and they were no help unfortunately. It needs to be forwarded to an advanced tech support which needs to be accomplished through a help ticket (already done, waiting). What I don't understand is I got the same driver to function on my Windows 7 laptop, same stick. I know it works (and great at that). What boggles my mind is why it doesn't work on the newer supposed high speed system.
  6. Well my Saitek X52 Pro has somehow fudged my computer to the point where I'm going to format my hard drive. I sort of got the unit working in DCS but the mouse, mouse button and scroll wheel didn't function. This best result was after a few different attempts of me deleting this and that and what not. My Windows will now not allow me to delete the Saitek folder as it "supposedly" open somewhere, somewhere I can't find. As of now, plugging my Saitek X52 Pro in doesn't lock the computer but it does prevent me from using any other program. What steps did you you take to successfully install your X52 Pro? Step by step. Did you avoid USB 3.0 altogether? Did you download the most current driver and start installing that BEFORE plugging in the X52 Pro? Thanks, Chris
  7. Jack, I of course hate you. :) Ill see what I can find but I of course am still open to suggestions.
  8. The windows control panel? It was never an option unfortunately. This thing is good and truly borked
  9. I tried my best to delete anything I could find with madcatz or saitek and now the driver I downloaded is "stuck" with the blue circle, waiting for the driver to update. Read, doing nothing. I also tried going with just the preinstalled driver but again, DCSW got stuck "CheckingForUpdates". Update: After about 15 minutes the installer says, "Error, an Error occurred during this step". I've gone through the regedit and attempted to delete a pertinent file I've located in another thread here on the board and still no luck. It won't let me install and it makes other programs on my computer inoperable. This and Saitek's customer support is to say the least, lacking. Any guidance?
  10. How do I uninstall the driver? The only thing I coud find was something in the temp folder.
  11. I'm setting up my new rig and have come across problems with my x52 pro which worked fine in my old laptop. I had set up my x52 pro through the laptop intentionally with the older usb port (not 3.0). Never had much of an issue other than the program crashing my Windows 7 after I tried to set the time. I avoided it in the future and had no problems. I've got my desktop set up and downloaded the new driver for the x52 pro. Followed the instructions by starting the driver program, then plugging in (to a blue port, probably 3.0) and it initially seemed to go OK until I tried to finish the install of the driver when it froze. I ctrl alt delte out of it and went on my way installing the rest of my programs (which actually required a reboot). I even tried firing up DCSW without it plugged in and it worked fine. After plugging in however, no matter if the port was blue, white or grey (black), DCSW just got stuck in "checking for updates". I've seen mention of reformatting my HD (!) and even downloading other files to clean something else somewhere on my drive. How on Earth do I get the x52 pro working again? / ps: I assume blue usb ports are 3.0, what are black and white? Thanks Chris
  12. Instructions that worked for me was to: - Open DCS World as you were going to fly something - Go to Module Manager and delete BS2 - Back out to install BS1 or if already installed, go into a mission which will ask for a BS1 activation. Activate it, fly for a minute and quit - Go into the BS2 install file for DCS World and it will ask you to install either the full BS2 or an upgrade. Select upgrade and let it install - Start up DCS World, select a BS2 mission and place the BS2 activation code in when prompted to do so
  13. Alright, many thanks
  14. That's my intent but I don't want to be down waiting for a solution. Trying to trouble shoot before it becomes a problem. Any other input would be appreciated.
  15. Now I have a 7 year old I believe 22" monitor (1680x1050) that runs DVI-D SINGLE link input. I ordered my new computer and the video card (gtx 780) has support for DVI-I and D DUAL link output, HDMI and another option I'm even less familiar with. With that said, can I run signal from a DVI-D DUAL link video card to a DVI-D SINGLE link monitor? I've searched up and down and seen both yes and no. As seen here in the 4th line of the 3rd paragraph http://www.networktechinc.com/blog/differences-between-dvi-connectors-and-signals-2/276/ this writer seems to be saying no, it doesn't. What does everyone's experience or knowledge have to say? If it is a no, would some kind of HDMI to DVI-D single link converter cable work? Thanks, Chris
  16. Like them or hate them, I've got a minor attachment to Dell/Alienware. I know what to expect and think they are comparable (and almost always beat everyone else) in price to other "dedicated" gaming rigs in the mid range. With that said, I've got an M14x R2 (****x900 resolution) with a i7-3610QM and GTX650M. From what I understand (which isn't much), these are respectable and work well with DCS World at low graphic settings (with the exception of the MFDs and interior at full resolutions). It's not perfect but can plug along OK. (Usually around 70fps on the ground and down to 25 in busy situations). With that said, I've been looking at the Aurora to use in lieu of the 14 and while it would mean a change in how I use it, being able to use it on my 47" would be nice (1080p). My biggest hope is for a significant performance improvement in programs such as DCS and even FSX but also get some future proofing. As priced now it would include the i7-4820K processor, GTX780, 16 gigs of RAM and a frankly unnecessary amount of hard drive. How well would this set up be able to work with DCSW now and in the future, likewise other similar simulators? Many thanks
  17. I've been trying to work this out and if my wingman is doing the damage or I am. With that said in the "Surrounded" mission I've dropped the 105 on the convoys and before it will detonate, my wing obscures the TGP's view of the destruction. With that said, do I need to somehow maintain my target in the TGP until complete detonation, or is it a "release and forget" weapon? Many thanks, Chris
  18. I've seen some threads covering the above mentioned topic but I've as of yet been unable to find a solution through them. My background: - recently got BS2 upgrade working without any issues. Beautiful - received new X52 Pro and in the process of setting it to show local time, computer froze - hard reboot holding down the power button - eventually had to go into I believe it was recovery mode which backed me up to a point in time before BS2 was installed properly - BS1 is still installed on my computer in this recovered position, however somehow I needed to use another BS1 activation to make it work. Done and BS1 works as promised - Went into DCS World and deleted Black Shark from there - Went back to BS2 Upgrade installer and it says "Black Shark 1 needs to be installed and activated" It is installed and activated. Any ideas? Chris
  19. Many thanks. Easy for you, means a lot to me.
  20. I ended up going ticket route and got help. Ends up I needed to first install and activate BS1 then install and activate BS2 Upgrade. ManyThanks
  21. Also, when I installed BS2 last night it asked if I want to install BS2 full International or Russian, full or upgrade. I believe I selected the International full (the only option it would allow me without a warning message).
  22. Uow did you resolve the issue if you dont mind me asking?
  23. I've looked through here and found numerous similar problems but no clear cut path to follow to fix my issue. Background: - I purchased BS1 a couple years ago and used it on a different computer - New computer; Upgraded to DCS World earlier this year and have used A10C exclusively thus far - I run A10C and get a "The system requires the correct Serial Number...." and the header on the error box above is Black Shark 2. (I click exit twice every time I enter A10C and the plane works fine) - I don't believe BS1 is installed on this computer. - I purchased BS2 this evening and when I put in the activation code I still immediately get the above mentioned error code I've also seen mention that I can download something to do who knows what. Do I install the old two BS1 files (standalone), install and try again? Do I delete BS2 somehow then try the BS1, then reinstall BS2? What should I do? Thanks, Chris
  24. Your self diagnosis did the trick for me. Many thanks
