This is what i thought initally but it doesnt happen like that in DCS, maybe a bug they need to correct then ? The NATO manual is quite clear : " Actuation of the engine/AMAD fire extinguishing system can only be performed manually. The system is armed by lifting the guard and pressing the affected FIRE warning/extinguisher light. This also shuts off fuel to the engine at the engine feed shutoff valves and closes the crossfeed valve. " This is why i don't understand that difference in the RPM.

Hi guys. Little question. How does the shut-off valve work exactly (aka FIRE light button) ? The way i understood is that it close the valve after the feed tank so engine is not provided with fuel anymore. However even if the FF indicate 0, the RPM don't drop as much as when you switch the throttle to OFF. Where does this difference come from ? Some people came with an idea that could make sense: if the throttle is not on OFF position, the engine still use the fuel left in the lines, providing few RPM. But should be a quite short amount of time isnt ? I did some test and kept the 'high' RPM forever which doesnt make sense. This question came because when practicing emergency engine lost in flight, i noticed that when the failure is simulated by pushing the FIRE light button the engine still at fairly high RPM (50). While if yu put the throttle then on OFF the RPM drop to the 12 for 350kt announced in the manual. Thanks :)

Hello folks I've been working with the dynamic weather to explore possibilities. And if i've been able to control pretty much all the aspect i wanted still some point that i didn't understood. I was wondering if it was linked to the fact that the current system doesn't allow them or if i do it wrong. I can produce more or less cloud, with different density, or by creating very low pressure zones inside an already low one, even building cyclone. Choosing between rain and snow regarding the temperature. I could pretty much the same with conflict between h and l zones. But i still didn't managed to affect the cloud altitude and thickness. Neither creating overcast and storm cells with lightning. None the pressure and temperature or building cells conflict worked. Is it currently possible do to ? If yes how ? Here the track file, i can confirm that the tanks doesnt appear til i closed and locked the canopy during taxi. Morning guys, Noticed few times that when (re)loading tank(s) on the ground before/during rampstart, the fuel tanks dont appear on the DDI fuel page. The system know that there is some external as the total is correct and higher than the internal, but we dont have the information of each tank on the bottom. It seems that they pop once canopy is closed and locked. Will double check that there is a link between canopy open/close, and the information missing on the DDI. It can happen no matter what combinaison of fuel tank you take. If it's supposed to be like that, my bad i didn't knew, feel free to lock the topic. Happened in MP few times, on AO misson-server, nothing particular. I dont have the track, will make sure to save it next time it happen. Have a nice day.

Spend two days testing. - Radar have HUGE difficulty to see aircraft crancking and dont see aircraft notching. No matter if you're using the HI or MED pulse frequency. Only way to try to barely see it is to have a quick scan refresh, so no more than 40° azimuth and 2B. Whats mean that you already know where is the targett, in other term, impossible to scan the sky. - If you're on STT on a target that go in a cranck or notch, contact will drop then required non stop, impossible to do a proper FOX1 and difficult to FOX3 if you shoot before the pibull. If you're tracking an aircraft with some others flying arround, as the radar try to reacquire around the last position it will jump between all the contact in this zone. - In ACM, Vertical, WACQ are completly blind, boresight is almost blind. Been following aircraft maneuvring during minutes, placing them inside the HUD symbol, impossible to lock anything. - For RWS, STT and ACM, seems that asap the contact is moving maneuvring, lock is impossible and or very difficult. - Im not sure yet, need to test more to compare, but looks like the RADAR have huge to lock Su and Mig. Much more than locking other FA18C and F15C. No way to do Pvp with it, and even PvE is really difficult.

Hello, thank you a lot for this topic. I've started to do some test using PBR into my cockpit, and i have to say, the rendering is awesome ! Was just wondering, you said that if the Roughness Metal is enable specular are ignored, however i did a test, i splitted a same piece with different colors into my spec (a Green band, a BLue band, and a Red one), and i see an little effect into the cockpit, even with the PBR files used. So ... is there a way to really ask DCS to stop reading the spec ?

It happened during a 2h fight mission so might be difficult to find it. However next time that it's happen i'll make sure to save the moment, and check the fuel lever. Thx for the quick response.

Evening. As said on the title, not that much to add, on the first mission of the campaign, Meatboy-1 the leader helicopter come and land on the player position. Quite problematic when you can't even rampstart for the first mission of the campaing ^^.

Noticed a problem with the auto hover that seems to pop quite randomly. The auto hover isn't able to keep the helicopter stable in hover. As soon as it's engaged, the helicopter point the nose toward the ground and move foward (but keep the altitude) Note that i double checked with the graphic with R CTRL ENT, the hover is engaged. Quite problematic when you're alone in the Gazelle and want to switch to the co pilot seat to shoot ...

Copy. Done some test with others type of file, nothing change. Is that possible that it's a bug of the new shading ? Never saw any other aircaft that have those type of specs (as green as i used)

Hi all, thanks a lot for your explanation about the new specs, really usefull ! I would just ask you if you too you noticed a lot of noise effect arround the light when you reduce the roughness of the aircraft. I'm working currently on specs for aerobatic aircraft that use to have a really smooth fuselage, but i saw this noise appearing. I do agree that this effect is sort of "normal", but he is way too present into DCS. It looks like i had noise into my normal map or specs, but i dont. PS : This noise is more visible on dark fuselage, or highly colored one.
