  1. When you finish converting the manual and start taking bulk orders, I'd recommend you set up a Kickstarter or something. That way you can simply set a minimum "donation" amount of $20, simply an example, to receive a copy of the manual and at the same time set a minimum order size by setting a money goal. That way you solve all the issues of minimum order sizes and getting money together.
  2. You can count me in for an order. Just keep it mind it's probably a good idea to set a minimum number of people and order in bulk. For example, ordering via Staples, it is something like $60 per copy if you order them individually, whereas if you were to order 20 of them it only costs $25 per copy. EDIT: Mimeo specifically has a %50 discount for your first order, so that might be great for individuals to order via as well, considering that most people probably have never ordered from them before. Still might be cheaper just to order in bulk though, who knows.
  3. Thanks a ton, now I just need to solve the LUA serial issues, or rather the COMPLETE lack there-of. Oh well, guess I'll have to write a script in another language to parse info for the LUA script :(
  4. There seems to be a distinct lack of any tutorials with LUA within DCS A10. Basically what I'm looking to do is read in some strings via serial connection to a Teensy microcontroller I'm using and change switches in-game based on this. (The reason I want to do this is because the alternatives, which are emulating a joystick, 32-button limit is an issue, or emulating a keyboard, where I can't separate input from my normal keyboard). Now I can go online and look at LUA documentation to find out how to read in the strings, but I can't find any documentation on how to set switches in-game via LUA, for example, setting the GUNPAC switch to ARMED. Any help would be -greatly- appreciated as this would solve all my interfacing issues with the flight-panel I'm working on. NOTE: I'm currently on vacation so I only have internet when passing through a marina with wifi. I probably won't have internet for the next few days short of some random luck.
  5. For that price the pl8006 still seems a better deal resolution and price wise, although it has a far longer shipping time I'm sure. The people over at RChobbygroup seem to find it easy to take apart and mod though too, so at the moment I'm planning in ordering two pl8006's. I spent hours last night asking for quotes from low quanitity sellers of LCD screens and drivers, they REALLY like charging stupidly high prices for shipping AND the screen, so I guess buying the individual parts is mostly out of the option. Still going to keep an eye out for any cheap screens compatible with these $25 LCD drivers on eBay.
  6. Thanks, I guess I'll give it a better go when I get back home to my normal computer. I'm not particularly skilled with CAD and I know a number of people have already created great models that would work fine (or atleast only require a little modification) to get working.
  7. Any input on whether to buy a 7" or an 8" would also be appreciated. The 7" screens shown in some people's pictures appear almost perfect, with only a slightly missing section at the top and bottoms of the screen. Anyone else able to comment on that? Assuming 4:3 resolution. They're just so much cheaper, ~$35 at 7" that it seems like a great idea unless there are some large reasons not to take that route.
  8. USB versus VGA is not much of an issue for me. I have plenty of CPU overhead and extra outputs on my AMD 6950 for any monitors. Really it just comes down to price and whether I can hook up two of them, an issue that I've heard tends to arise with some USB based screens. Also, the YN8088AV sold by B-Billion has apparently been used by quite a few people. It's ~$130 with free shipping so that seems like a decent deal, although two PL8006's shipped for under $200 sounds nice too.
  9. Well, some lengthy internet searches have so far shown this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/pl8006-portable-8-color-lcd-monitor-tv-w-ypbpr-vga-input-47-870mhz-55245 to be the cheapest display at $72 before shipping. I'll let you guys know if I find anything cheaper or if I end up getting them. At the very least the screen could be used on any number of projects I could think up, so I might just get one to test.
  10. The problem with the U70 is that the price tag is ~$120, just as much as any 8-inch monitor. There seems to also be a bunch of car headrest monitors and similar things that might work, guess I'll just have to keep looking. In the end I suppose I could always settle on one of the random USB monitors, the cost just makes me :(
  11. EDIT: Mainly about MFCD monitors in general now I've noticed that a number of people are paying well over $100 for 7 or 8 inch monitor to use as the display on MFCDs, but has anyone tried using a digital picture frame? An 8 inch frame costs ~$35 or so and, atleast according to some random internet pages, a number of them can be plugged into your computer via USB and function as a 2nd monitor. Has anyone tried this before? Seems like an awesome way to save a ton of money.
  12. I was looking around the forums after decided to build myself at least a few control panels but had some trouble finding any CAD models. It seems like there are a bunch of pictures spread around of the various models people have made, but no actual repository of models, so I thought it would be be a good idea to pool a few here. I'm largely looking to put the models through a CNC machine so that I can cut out the panels, thankfully my school is practically begging for students to use the CNC so it won't cost me a thing beyond materials. Personally I'm looking mainly for a UFC panel model but the more the merrier. If I get a decent number of replies I'll throw together a list in this post.
  13. Jack's profile really is awesome, but as a newbie learning to play, where it differs really matters D: For many of the keys, due to complex naming systems in-game, I can't set them to match shu77's easily readable profile. Anyone mind making a new PDF with all of SFJackBauer's settings or alternatively shu77, could you upload your .lua file of keybinds?
  14. You sir are my idol. Deleting the settings folder worked great. Thank you very much. :) Maybe now I can finally try playing with freeTrack and having some awesome times.
  15. I recently bought DCS A-10 but I'm having a problem. I don't want to use the STT profiler for a few reasons, mainly because the simplest keybind setup I found, SFJackBauer's, doesn't use it, but also because others report some issues with it. Yet if I bind any controls in game under the X52 category, they don't actually work in game. The buttons ARE recognized, they show up fine in the settings but if I say, bind EXIT to every single button on the joystick, none of the buttons will do anything. It seems that ANY keybind whatever for the joystick beyond using the joystick/throttle axis doesn't actually work while playing. I've reinstalled the drivers twice but it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone know what I can do?
