  1. Thanks Alfa. Is this difference simulated in LOMAC, to me the -27S's & -33's IRST seemed to be the same, though its been a while since I flew last.
  2. The optional 20mm (??) door gun on the Mi-35M seems to be quite useless. It will make the small cabin quite unusable for troop transport, block the underwing weapons when deployed, and require the Hatches to be open (exposing to the gunner). There is already a twin 23mm cannon in the nose turret.
  3. Can we have the Su-25SM? (the upgraded Su-25 for VVS)
  4. The pods dielectric radomes are different, noticed this on Su-33 & Su-30MK too.
  5. This seems to be a new version with a FLIR turret, nose optics moved up: Ka-50 variant This could be the Ka-50N version... http://avia.russian.ee/helicopters_eng/ka-50.php ITS UGLY !!! Prototype with 2 turrets
  6. Here is the Rostvertol Mi-24/35 promo video: http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/Guest/492/
  7. Thats not an Indian missile......looks like a speculative model of a future R-73 derivative to me.
  8. The IN MiG-29K/KUB will have the same airframe with the same canopy. In the K, the backseater's position will be taken up by a fuel tank or extra avionics. Same is the case with the -35/D.
  9. The baseline Su-30 & Su-30K carry the same weapons as the -27 and seem to have similar avionics too. Is there any difference between the Su-27S/UB & Su-30/K, Su-33 IRST, as the optics are offset from the centreline on the latter?
  10. Are the pods for the Gardenia ECM system carried on the inner underwing points rather than the wingtips, where Sorbtsiya pods are mounted? I have a video from the Sukhoi Su-27 video family, which shows a number of early production Su-27s (with flat fin tips and 'stings' on the leading edge of the fins just below the fin tip dielectric fairings, some of these a/c are also missing the right fin leading edge dielectric fairing) firing weapons on an exercise. This clip shows one example with the ECM pods mounted on the underwing stations, while another one has the pods mounted on the wing tips. This video might be found on http://www.patricksaviation.com OT: This clip also shows the Su-27s with MERs carrying lots of FAB-250 & FAB-100 bombs  . I have seen MERs on both the Su-27S & Su-33 apart from other members of the family. Also, the Su-33 (and some Su-30MK variants) can carry a 'twinning' rack on its central underwing hardpoint (which is the inner underwing hardpoint for the -27) making it possible to mount two rocket pods (maybe even two AAMs???) or bombs. These features seem to be missing in LOMAC...
  11. I wonder what pod it carries under the right outboard station...
  12. Here are a couple from the IAF: "The Jaguar takes off because the earth is round" "There are two types of MiG-23 pilots: Those who have had a tail strike and those who will suffer one in the future" (The MiG-23's tail is VERY LOW, so take offs and landings have to be very precise to prevent the tail from kissing the runway. This aircraft type is almost phased out from the IAF inventory, the -23MFs were retired on 20th March, leaving behind a few upgraded SEAD capable -23BNs and -23UMs conversion trainers.)
  13. Great! Does the Tornado have powered nose gear, or does it depend upon differential braking for steering?
  14. Guys, how is the French movie 'Sky Knights'? Is it another Top Gun?
  15. Here is an in-flight photo of a Su-35UBO (O for Open top) from the movie: http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1189794&size=L&TopOfYest=yes
  16. Cope India 2004 Image gallery & some datails: http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/Images/main.php?g2_itemId=2435 The IAF will take Su-30MKI to Red Flag 2008!
  17. Someone should add a mm radar to the plane, as well as the missiles, like the longbow system in AH-64Ds. The Su-39 (-25TM) can carry a belly pod with Kopyo-25 radar, but I dont know how useful this is against mobile ground targets......my understanding of electronics is very poor.
  18. The extra fuel tanks in the SMT & UBT are optional, all cutomers have not opted for them. MiG-29SMTs with Yemen have an airframe very similar to the 9.12 MiG-29s. Search 'MiG-29SMT' on airliners.net and you will find a bunch of pictures of a non hump-back SMT in desert camo.
  19. In the IAF, pilots have been wearing blue suits for a long time, though now they are changing to green.
  20. MiG-35 & MiG-29KUB have downward firing flares like most western a/c. But I feel the usual Russian upwards launching flares should be more effective, as they tend to stay in the circle with a turning a/c. Downward firing flares will project a much higher angular seperation rate to the missile seeker, making it easier to filter them out. They should be less effective during low level flight also.
  21. Thanks a lot guys. They have improved the azimuth coverage in OLS-UEM over the base line MiG-29 IRST, which was restricted between +/-30’ (+/-60’ in Su-27). http://www.rusarm.ru/cataloque/airf0rces_cataloque.html I wonder what the laser RF does in combat mode… :music_whistling:
  22. You'll get some wallpapers at http://www.sukhoi.org
  23. Also have a look at this: AGM-130, derived from the GBU-15 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-130
  24. According to an article in 'Take-off' magazine, MiG is offering Sapsan-E targeting pod in place of OLS-K lower hemisphere IRST; and KOLS-13SM IRST in place of OLS-UEM on the MiG-35. Is there any info on the Sapsan-E pod?
