How many people here fly the Su25t?
504bigtonka replied to Mizzy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I wouldnt worry about that too much - just jump in and fly... we're an easy going bunch (right lads?) and we'll make you feel welcome - anyways flying with 504th BW can be the most fun you'll have with your stick in your hand!! :joystick: (oo er missus!) *cough* *cough* just let me know when mate :) -

actually I think we were! :) Its very difficult to go back to anything else once youve got used to the T... Shes a very demanding mistress, but if you treat her right youll get your rewards ;) As BlackWidow and Konkussion said...always keep an eye on the AOA indexer - oh and never try to fight the 25T - if it doesnt want to turn, it wont.... fight it and youll end up hitting the deck! ;) -
Bombed out of the sky!! - a few screenies.

Yup - well sort of... RED "xxxxxxx" (su-25) kill RED "(504)BigTonka"(su-25) by BETAB-250 was displayed in the in-game messages... That players scoresheet showed 1 a/c kill but in the debrief his "kill" was stolen by a single round from a nearby BTR that hit me at exactly the same time as the BETAB... damned kill stealing AI... :D -

PW..... PWNNN.....PWNGNNN... no, no I cant! :D -
Just thought Id share these with you guys.... The other day, we're doing our usual 504th BW training and after a little while I spot a road convoy and decide to do a reccie pass and see whats what (after being pretty sure there were no AD's about) All of a sudden boomshanka! Im dead.... A look at the mission track showed the following: whoops!!
-
from what limited info Ive seen so far - yes the froggies do have "crappy" wheelbrakes. As for the startup issues and the "thunk" noises - yeah it probably is the lack of avionics power up.... Ill try it next time im in the pit and see.... Im pretty diligent in hitting shift-l and i cant say Ive ever seen that particular phenomena happening....
-
Guys if youre still having dramas downloading the files, PM me and when I get home from work (about 10 hours from now) Ill arrange to make the files accessible for yas. Ive got 1Mbs upload - so not lightning quick but should do the job ;)
-
hmmm sorry - not sure... Im only using the keyboard zoom since theres no trackir support in the demo. maybe someone else knows this?
-
msfs trackir support (not in the fsx demo yet) has full 6dof support so if you have a trackir you can use that to zoom. There are also commands to move the eyepoint up/down/forwards/backwards and to zoom in/out. A combination of these should get the views how you like them.

Basically for a existing fs9 aircraft you want to fly in the fsx demo do the following: 1) copy the aircraft from your old fs9\Aircraft\ directory into the FSX\SimObjects\airplanes\ directory 2)Copy any needed gauges from the fs9\Gauges\ directory to FSX\Gauges 3)Copy any needed effects files from fs9\Effects directory to FSX\Effects\ Thats basically it.... Id expect varying degrees of success with addon planes - some may require more steps perhaps. :)

ok Ive done a little research on this (never had as look at msfs skinning/painting so its all new to me and Im using trial and error.) Using a different mi-8 "paint scheme" did not have any transparent textures at all. Id say whats happening here, is that some paint schemes are using a "default" supplied fs9 (or msfs) texture for some parts - since what we have is only a demo it is shipped only with the textures it needs to run - so some objects try to use a missing texture resulting in the transparencies. i confirmed this using a different paint of my Addictive VC-10 and it worked fine too. I suppose if you were desperate you could try to single out the textures you need and copy them from fs9 to the fsx demo... but thats a little beyond me with my limited fs9 modding knowledge ;)
-
It worked for me: It even took off - but Im missing the underneath/rear texture(s)
-
Lago Mi-24 works fine for me in the fsX demo. No transparent textures at all. It complains about the gauge used for the ADF is no longer supported in this version of MSFS but seems to work anyway. I have seen the 'black windows" issue in the stock demo a/c though - sometimes change view and back fixes it for me...othertimes a restart of the demo. I have the Mi-8 too - lemme try that and Ill let you know if I get it working.... Im just peeved that my Alphasim TSR.2 works all fine but for some reason the screen resolution resets to 1024x768 when I fly it :S (As a sidenote: i have the addictive VC-10 which has transparent wings...Im missing a texture...somewhere!!)
-
helos definately seem to (for me anyway) - I can actually land em now :music_whistling: The one or two fixed wing ones Ive tried so far seem to behave much the same as they did in fs9...
-
probably a bit to do with dual core cpu and the extra video ram you have ;) But yeah without fraps it does seem a whole load smoother - I also force AA/AF so that hits the frames as well. Still just tinkering rather than flying properly - i got all the gauges etc working on my lago hind now ;) Best fun Ive had in an msfs helo for ages!
-
Ive got a few more screenies here I used FRAPS for screenies since it gives FPS info, 1280x1024 all sliders maxxed on a A64 3500+, X800XTPE AGP 256MB, 2GB DDR400 spec system. plugging in fs9 aircraft seems to "mostly' work too.... havent put in the gauges etc so some are missing textures/gauges here and there... good for a bit of fun too. The Lagoi Hind flies gorgeously compared to fs9.

VVS 504th BomberWing Recruiting!
504bigtonka replied to 504bigtonka's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Just giving this thread a little bump as we are still looking for more recruits... Also if there are any budding Su25/T pilots out there, who would love to join but for whatever reason are hesitant to give it a go - all I can say is dont be silly and at least try out. You may be pleasantly surprised. :) -

I couldnt have put that any better Kenan :) BomberWing "lost" 4 pilots - this recruiting drive is hoping to replace those (and add some more to BW numbers) with fresh blood - Pilots who are keen to fly in an active squad environment. That being said, if any of the [DC] guys need a wingman to fly with them, I'll be the first in line! S! -

VVS 504th BomberWing Recruiting!
504bigtonka replied to 504bigtonka's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ive just replied to your post on the 504th forums - look forward to talking to and flying with you very shortly. S! -
S! The VVS504 BomberWing is actively seeking Su-25/25T pilots to join its ranks. Do you think you have what it takes to join the 504th BW? If you can work as part of a team to get the task completed, are motivated to fly and have fun amongst friends, and have some familiarity with the Frogfoot & Rook airframes in FC then what are you waiting for? Visit http://www.vvs504.co.uk, join the forums and submit a squadron application. We'll do the rest! If you do, pretty soon youll be one of the best virtual frogfoot pilots out there!! We like to do the job properly but we have a lot of laughs along the way! Look forward to hearing from you soon! Tonka

Hi Guys, Just double checking that its fine to post 'squadron recruitment' type of posts here, or do I need permission from the moderators etc to do so? Ive been a lurker since day 1 - so while Ive seen a lot of these posts in the past, I just want to make sure Im doing the right thing before I proceed with my post :) Thanks! Tonka
