  1. @ Wichid: If you push the PTT you hear nothing, because your receiver is switched off for the time you transmit. You hear voice, squelch and background noise only from other players if they have Aries Radio installed. This functionality is taken from real radios because an active receiver during transmissions would cause a terrible feedback. @wilco: It is most likely, that you use an older version of TeamSpeak. If possible, upgrade to the latest version 3.0.15 of TeamSpeak and try it again. Another problem could be , that your TeamSpeak is a 32 bit version. Aries Radio works only in 64 bit versions. A last and seldom reason could be, that you need the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package, which is necessary to run application developed with MSVC++. It can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=5555
  2. I am using 3.0.15 the entire day and all works normal. Would be interesting to know what is not working properly in detail .
  3. The items 1 and 2 are already solved and quietly stored in the latest installer on my website. I got my kicks from my fellow pilots. The return to DCS after mission end is not under my control. I get the shut down signal from DCS and from windows DLL interface almost at the same time. At that moment I cleanup all resources and stop all threads. This takes 100 ms in maximum. If this time would be exceeded, all remaining threads are killed immediately. That's all what I can do. A bug source could be another mod, addressed in export.lua.I had troubles with TACVIEW until I moved the Aries 'dofile' entry in export.lua before all TACVIEW entries. Playing around with the sequence of 'dofile' entries could probably solve the problem.
  4. I just tested it with the new TeamSpeak version 3.0.15. No problems... A simple, but effective test is to start TeamSpeak and having a look to the menu item Settings/Plugins. If Aries Radio appears normal with the checkmark set, then it should all be OK. TeamSpeak kicks out all DLLs which are not compliant.
  5. The evaluation of Frosties configuration turned out, that the keyboard handler for the 'toggle GUI' function was deactivated accidently . The bug is solved meanwhile and a bug fix will be released on next Friday. For those, who want to use the keyboard for the 'GUI toggle' function, please use a button from another device until the bug fix is released. Thank you for your patience...
  6. @Frosty It seems to be a combination of the z-order bug and the absence of the GUI toggle key. I could at least reproduce the bug ,if I change to some specific applications (not every application) with Alt+Tab. But the GUI could be reactivated every time with the GUI toggle key. To solve your GUI key problem, please send a screenshot of the configurator you use to support@ariescon.com and attach the file \DCS World\AriesWings\AriesAirborneRadio.ini. I will have a look what is going on in the configuration. @astiles5470 The bug is confirmed and solved meanwhile. I will wait for a period of one week to gather all reports before I publish a bug fix.
  7. @Frosty I just tested this item and can confirm, that under undefined circumstances, the z-order of the different desktop windows are confused. I had one time the effect, that after an Alt+Tab , the radio panel disappears behind the DCS window as soon as it was touched. It could be restored by pushing the GUI button twice. But inputs were almost not possible. The effect disappeared after restarting DCS. All worked normal , even after an Alt+Tab. If someone finds a way to reproduce the bug safely please give me a message. If you are not sure about your GUI button, you can check the following entry in DCS World\AriesWings\AriesAirborneRadio.ini It shows the device used and the button number of this device. The above example shows the default entry delivered with the radio package. If it does not match your configuration, you need to adjust it with the corresponding configurator.
  8. In case of any crash caused by the radio It would be helpful, if you could send the files C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\DCS\Logsdcs.log and the latest C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\DCS\ DCS-xxxxxxxx-yyyyyyy.crash to support@ariescon.com. You can influence the level of the background noise in \DCS World\AriesWings\ AriesAirborneRadio.ini. At the end you find sections for some types I support with sound mods. There are numbers defined in PRIMARY_BUFFER and for each SND file. The numbers define a relation for the noise levels. PRIMARY_BUFFER is the level of the pilots voice. BKGND_ENGINE is the noise sound and level of the engine BKGND_COCKPIT is for the moment onl y a sound of streaming air. Same for each vehicle. BKGND_SILENCE (not supported for the moment) would be electrical generator and similar during startup. The A10 has a relation of 99:3:5:0. if you increase the number 3, the engine noise becomes louder. Decreasing a number decreases the corresponding sound. Only integer values are accepted. HULL : the first value defines a frequency, how often per second a rotor or propeller blade passes in front of you. This is a combination of RPM and number of blades. The second number defines the decrease of loudness per pass in percent. The values 10 70 say, that the pilot voice is reduced 10 times per second by 70%. This produces the typical voice vibration of a Huey pilot. You should keep in mind, that every change of these values effect only your local configuration. The results are audible for your fellow player only. It would make sense, if all participants have the same configuration. The sound files contain 16 bit samples, mono, 48 kHz, raw format. You may fill in any sound in a file, even an opera if you like.
  9. Well, even my fellow pilots nudged me to make the dialog available outside a running scenario. I will keep that in mind for the next update. If you find out the way to safely crash the simulation, let me know.
  10. @SchniX: When you say 'manual installation', did you use the manual installation package or did you simply change the path for TeamSpeak in the Windows installer?
  11. @chromium, is the bug observed even in the New Version?
  12. @chromium sorry for answering late. To be honest, the bug was not reproducible. But I did an extensive evaluation to find a reason for it. The result was, that even other types received on all frequencies in a cold and dark cockpit. To avoid such a situation, I switch all new vehicles in a defined "OFF" condition when they enter the game. I admit, that is pocking around. But from the logical point of view (whatever logical means), it should solve the situation. @shagrat I appreciate such responses. But the sequence should be first testing then being enthusiastic or frustrated. Nevertheless, thank you...
  13. Dear users, version 1.930 of Aries Airborne Radio is published on the Aries web site http://www.ariescon.com/. There are three packages available on the download page: AriesWingsRadio1.930.zip contains a windows installer and the Quick Installation Guide AriesRadioManualInstallation1930.zip For those, who experience troubles with the windows installer. The package includes the Manual Installation Guide and all necessary files. AriesWingsRadioCommunication.pdf The latest documentation for version 1.930. may be, that some items are missing. If you find something, pleas report it. If you upgrade from an earlier version, please safe your AriesAirborneRadio.ini from DCS World\AriesWings. The installer tries to save it, but it is not sure how it reacts on the very old versions. As said before, please report all troubles to support@ariescon.com or post it in this thread. Thank you for your patience...
  14. I just did a small test run with the Huey. Upper left VHF AM Box: Frequencies are dialed with the mouse wheel. Normal reaction. Power on and volume are controlled with left and right mouse click. UHF Box below: Frequencies are dialed with the mouse wheel. Normal reaction. Right VHF FM box: Frequencies are dialed with left and right mouse click. Normal reaction. The controls are not in dependence of any other switch. They should work even in a cold and dark cockpit.
  15. It exists already for the A10C and works. I developed a remote cockpit which displays all cockpit instruments and allows even to take over aircraft control. It was planned as flight instructor cockpit and works even on an internet connection. Unfortunately the interest was close to zero. Therefore it was never finalized for a publication. Since it needs only a compilation with our latest radar version, I can make it available when Aries Radar is released.
  16. Today we did the final test with Aries Airborne Radio Version 1.930. Since we experienced no bugs anymore, we decided to release the new version on the coming weekend. Unfortunately, the Version 2.0 could not be finalized. But this impacts only the remote radio panel which would allow to control the radio from another computer, tablet PC or cell phone. All new features for voice communication will be available which are: Radio Power Range The maximum distance limited by radio transmitter power is set to 200 NM. In this version there is no difference between the radio types. Type specific power output will be implemented in version 2.0. The power degradation will start at 160 NM and is observed as increasing white noise, receiver interrupts and complete silence when out of range. Horizon Line of Sight For all communications, the location of the transmitter and the receiver is observed. If the line of sight is interrupted by the natural globe horizon. The receiver quality will be degraded. Terrain Masking An additional file containing the terrain elevations of the simulation area is included in the radio software. This allows to check the line of sight between transmitter and receiver, based on the terrain structure. You will experience radio interrupts and silence while flying low in valleys and canyons . Radio voice quality This effect simulates the reduction of audible quality in radio communication. Depending on the radio hardware, the human voice is limited to 8kHz sample rate. All frequencies above 8kHz are cut off. The audible effect for the listener is the absence of sibilants in the voice. All words containing 's' or 'th' are hard to recognize. In aviation radio communication therefore, some words are pronounced in a specific way for better recognition. The number '3'for example, is pronounced as 'tree' instead of 'three'. White noise Every radio used in aviation has an small amount of audible white noise. This can be clearly heard if only the PTT button is pushed. Type specific Background noise A small portion of the cockpit noise can be heard if someone transmits. Each type of vehicle has different engine noise and even different hiss caused by streaming air. Furthermore, the rotor blades of an helicopter or a propeller could be audible. Rotors and propellers cause even a vibration in the pilots voice. IFF/SIF The IFF/SIF mode 4 function is implemented in advance because of the coming radar application. Mode 4 causes an audible ping if it is interrogated by a radar ground station. If someone experienced troubles with the installation process, don't hesitate to e-mail us via support@ariescon.com or by posting your questions here in this thread.
  17. Absolute Show...
  18. That's interesting. Are you talking about the A10C or UH1D? I observed a similar bug with the VHF boxes in the A10C. Especially with box 3 you can see the dials turning after a mouse click, but the frequency does not change. I am not sure if this is a DCS bug or that I destroyed something in my configuration. If someone else observes this in version 1.2.8.27915, please post it here in.
  19. Are you sure, that you service the right panel? The ADF has no volume control. It has a gain control which controls the amplification distance to the white noise level. The frequency is controlled with the right rotary knob (TUNE). Use the mouse wheel to dial the frequency. The lower level knob sets the frequency range. This is controlled with the left and right mouse button. BTW, I just tested the controls. It all works normal.
  20. Export.lua is not available by default anymore. You need to create one manually in: C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts or C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts That's the location where the latest DCS versions expect an Export.lua. The format of Export.lua did not change. So you can use an old one.

  22. There is not enough hydraulic oil on this world to put pressure on me. Therefore I would not specify any date to produce hydraulic oil. But some details: The next version will be V 1.928. Version 2.0 is stuck because of troubles with the remote panel (Android).Nevertheless, all version 2.0 functions, with the exception of the remote control, will be available in V 1.928. We are in the final test phase and tune the background noise. The documentation of the new function and features needs to be finalized. The windows installer does not cover all possible user configurations of DSC and TeamSpeak. This becomes a pain in a certain body opening. If all the open items are solved, we will release the product. So patience is the only way for the moment.
  23. @astiles5470 I just tested the channel setting on both VHF boxes and found no error. For confirmation: VHF preset settings are done in manual mode (left rotary switch set to MAN) while UHF preset settings are done in preset mode (right rotary switch set to PRESET). The UHF Box has another unexplainable bug. After the frequency is loaded into a channel, you need to move the channel selector at least once to another channel. Otherwise the frequency is not effective in preset mode. To control the channel setting of a box, set the Box to preset mode and do a left click in the Frequency field of the Aries Radio Panel. The raw frequency of the channel will be visible. During my tests with the DCS World version I noticed, that the VHF Boxes do not accept manual frequency settings with a mouse anymore. The buttons on the VHF FM Box move but the frequency digits do not change. This is not observed in the Open Beta version. It would be interesting if anybody else observes the same bug.
  24. If you open such a drum gauge, you will find an impressive piece of mechanical hardware, but no electronics. Normally it is driven directly by the dynamic pressure from the Pitot tube. There are only some cogwheels, which try to come close to the real value by clever transmissions. If you calculate the airspeed by a computer you have a pressure sensor which gives a value into the Air Data Computer. In difference to the mechanical measurement, the Air Data Compute takes some more values into account. This is mainly the air pressure, air density and air temperature. Furthermore, mentioned in the previous post, there are considerations regarding the position of the Pitot Tube, dimensions of pressure tubes and more, which finally results in the calibrated airspeed. The mechanical gauge does not consider the variable air data. It is calibrated for one standard atmosphere condition in a fixed hardware environment. So it is normal, that there is a difference between the mechanical indication and the computed indication. Whereby the computed speed is the more precise value. The next question would be, why using such a unreliable indicator? It needs no power supply, no computer, only a tube connection to the Pitot tube. This is a real help if you experience an electrical power loss.

    *.Lua export
