Bug Release V1.012 The bug release V1.012 of Aries Radio is available on the download page of: http://ariescon.com/index10.html Regards Mike

@Tacom The logic is as follows: If you define a button or key for 'Common PTT' , then the selection buttons/keys act as selection only and you have to use 'Common PTT' if you want to talk. This would be only one PTT button/key. If you leave the configuration for 'Common PTT' empty then the selection buttons/keys act as select + PTT. These would be 3 PTT buttons/keys. To delete the 'Common PTT' definition, simply press and release the arm button. You will notice, that the edit fields will be empty. @Agaton the voice modulation is planned. There is already a background noise function build in but not released yet. It let you hear some engine noise of the senders aircraft in dependence of his model. The short squelch when releasing the MIC button is even planned. I am looking for a good WAV file. The range and power reduction will come with Version 2.0 when the first radar is released. It will follow the official FAA radio power distribution model. The stereo function is a good Idea. I have to do some investigation in TeamSpeak. The possibilities are limited to feed the voice packages into different channels. @All We noticed in a test run, that there is sometimes a problem when entering a multiplayer server. This is a severe bug which forces me to do a bug release on Monday 13th (fortunately not on Friday). Please check the download page of ariescon.com for version 1.012 on Monday after 16:00 UTC. Thanks and sorry Mike

Release 1.011 available Aries Radio V 1.011 was released today with the Huey integrated. Details can be found at http://ariescon.com/ on the download page and on the support page. Please read the ReadMe.txt file (included in the download ZIP file) before installing the new version. After some considerations I have decided not to support the full screen mode of the simulator. The reasons are as follows: If DCS runs in full screen mode it accepts no additional window in the same process. It simply crashes because of a second D3D device. If an own process is created, there is no chance to keep the additional radio panel in the foreground. It is always covered by the DCS simulation window. If the panel is moved to a second monitor, outside the DCS simulation area, it freezes the simulation as long as the panel window has the focus. A test, to find the performance differences, had the following results: 1 Monitor 1920 x 1200, Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 Windowed mode, no vertical sync, ~60 fps fluctuating Windowed mode, vertical sync, 30 fps stable Full screen mode, no vertical sync, ~60 fps fluctuating Full screen mode, vertical sync, ~60 fps fluctuating The results told me at least for my installation, that there is no significant advantage in full screen mode. A different hardware could probably have different results. Nevertheless, if someone has different experiences, all comments are welcome. Regards Mike

@Robin Hood I will have a look for it. It makes sense, if it is availabe in the cockpit box. Mike

Stacker said it. The export.lua resides now in C:\Users\[user]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts. Regards Mike
-
Yes it works with export.lua. There is the full range of MainPanel numbers to scan buttons and instruments and vice versa devices to be fed via performClickableAction. Even the normal functions to get the flight details work. Regards Mike

Due to stability issues with Aries Radio and the latest version of DCS World, I have to postpone the release of version 1.01 to Monday , May 13th. Nevertheless, the Huey is fully integrated meanwhile and the radios can be handled as usual. Even the volume control was enhanced. Now each frequency voice volume can be controlled individually while the background noise, like engines and airstream, remain on a steady volume level. Regards Mike

There is a configuration program. You can define the frequencies of your choice for each channel. Furthermore you may define the labels for the landlines. The frequencies and labels you see for the moment is the default setup. I found the number of slots sufficient for the moment. It reflects the hardware I got use to for 30 years in a military tower. So it may be not the modern art. If you have something else in mind, please tell me. Regards Mike

KA50 crash Due to a timing change in the KA50 1.2.4 software, a model change on the fly in multiplayer mode will crash the simulator caused by Aries Radio. The bug is solved meanwhile. A repaired version will be available at http://ariescon.com/index10.html on Monday, 6th. Sorry Mike

This can even be confusing. It depends on , what presets are stored. I noticed many times, that the preset channel had the same frequency value as the manual set frequency. You can test this easily by clicking and holding the displayed channel number. The display then changes to the preset frequency as long as you hold the left mouse button down. Now you can compare the shown frequency with that displayed in TeamSpeak. If the values are the same then it is all ok. It is important to know, that the presets in the A10, KA58 and P51 are read out of the cockpit radios, whatever is stored there. So another test could be to set your own preset frequencies in a cockpit box and then compare if it is sent correctly to the panel and to TeamSpeak. But use caution, the VHF boxes have to be in manual setting and the UHF box must be in preset mode for the programming. And you must increment or decrement the UHF channel once after the presetting. Regards Mike

@Robin Hood there is really a short time gap when you start the mission. This is caused by the D3D initialization and the window build up. At this moment the radio panel is created. On my test machines it is very short, not to say almost imperceptible. I will look for a solution when I implement the full screen version. It is the same construction work. For the keyboard control, I will have a look... Regards Mike Result for Robin Hood: I just checked the keyboard control and found that all worked normal. The only situation I could assume is the compulsion, that the box must be selected to change the mode via keyboard. This is even necessary for the frequency digit change. If you have the time, I would appreciate if you could test the keyboard control again under the described prerequisites. Regards Mike

Thank you Theoretic...

Woche geplant. Vielen Dank für den Feedback Mike

Thank you Headspace, and I left already some limbs while defusing TS3 mines. Regards Mike

There are 6 internal encryption keys hard wired for the moment. So if you power on the box and select VHF or UHF encryption together with one of the 6 keys selected, your voice is not hearable any longer for other listener on the same frequency band, unless they have set the same encryption configuration. In a first version I produced a screeching noise from the encrypted voice. But my fellows found it annoying. If you have an idea how the encrypted voice should be presented, let me know. In the real world the encryption is done by time and frequency hopping. I do not know what the hearable result is of such an encryption. Mike

Yes, radio communication is possible between all participants in the simulation. The huey will be included as soon as it is available. Mike

The LUAC bug is solved. The configurator window size was adjusted so as to fit in 1080 pix vertical. The manual installation guide is part of the downloadable package. Mike

@Chriz6662 It was really an error. I will change it immediately. It influences the case, if an export.lua exists already. The 'dofile' entry gets the wrong name in this case. If the scripts folder and export.lua have to be created then it would work normal. @Robin Hood I would believe the impression of freeze is a side effect of the keyboard focus. As soon as you hit the radio panel with a mouse click the keyboard focus ids given to the radio panel . When you release the mouse button , the keyboard focus is forced back to the DCS window. This causes some spectacular changes in the DCS window. While the button is down, the taskbar may become visible and other visible effects could happen. In any case it initiates a screen refresh. But I could not observe, that the simulation flow is interrupted. Unfortunately I have to maintain this procedure. If the keyboard focus would stay with the radio panel after a mouse click, the DCS window would not accept any keyboard input. This confuses most of the users. For the design I am a bit in a Trap. The idea was to have a universal input device used with all types of radio. The additional panel was first meant for FC3 and CA only. It turned out, that it was an advantage not to fly loops while changing a radio frequency. So I left the panel visible even for a-10C, KA50 and P51. Yes, it works with the latest version of TeamSpeak. If a new version is available, the software will be adjusted immediately. The information will be posted here and on the Aries Wings website. And as I stated before, I am thinking of a full screen version. But I sign all documents with 'don't rush me' Mike
-
Yes, I had that already in mind. Mike
-
@Robin Hood In case of A-10C, KA50 and P51, the entire switch logic remains in the cockpit boxes. If you switch to an ADF frequency and the HSI or a radio compass is bound to that receiver it should work. It would not work for all other vehicles because they do not have any radio logic in DCS World. @ApoNOOB Good information, I had the wrong glasses on my nose. Will work on it. Mike
-
I did not think on this type of combination. So POV and/or modifier + button is not supported in this version. I put it on my list. It needs some investigation how to realize this. Mike
-
In the DCS World options tab the 'full screen' item must not be checked. DCS World does not accept any additional window in 'full screen' mode. It would crash without any warning. Mike
-
Videos will come when the radars are ready. I plan to show a complete GCA pattern and a final talk down from the pilots view and from the radars view. Mike
-
Yes, you can find it in C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins\AriesRadio\ AriesRadioLog_log.html. There is even a direct access offered in the TeamSpeak Plugins Menu. But I am afraid that it would not notice such a situation. I will add a function to the internal watch dog if you confirm this bug. In any case, it would help to send the log file to support@ariescon.com. I can probably recognize a situation which could produce side effects. Mike
