Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between Holdmodes and Autopilot as the Apache hold modes may not be considered an autopilot function ?

Thx for you response admiki, Ah okey. Thx for explaining. And I think i found what i was looking for. Page 207. --- Additional switching logic is determined based on whether Attitude Hold is activated and if the force trim release switch is being depressed, as described below. --- Page 211 --The FMC Pitch and Roll channels operate with Attitude Hold and two additional sub-modes: Position Hold and Velocity Hold.--- All these four Heading, Turncoordination, Velocity and Position hold are Attitudehold Submodes. -

Yes you have do make some more effort to understand how the systems really work. But i really would like to know how come or why the modes are called Submodes. How they work is explained but what makes them a submode ? -

You have nailed it perfectly. I had the same problem with the same systems you were struggling with even after reading the manual you need to put it all together. But in this case i miss more information to put this Modes vs Submodes together. They way modes can ve found in the manual but Why are modes Heading hold, Turncoordination, Position and Velocity hold Submodes are called Submodes ? -

Okey Raptor 9 Thx for your response. -
It could be me or maybe the style how this manual was written but its very cumbersome Take for example the Chapter Aircraft Controle, section Hold Modes page 206 and 207. If i read Modes and Sub modes i think of some kind of hierarchical structure. Iam used to having the hierarchy broken down in pieces from the top down or visa versa first to understand how the system works. In this manual the modes are mentioned in processes without first explaining how the system is structured At page 207 Suddenly Submodes Heading hold and Turn coordination are beeing mentioned how they work without explaining the total hierarchical tree of the modes meaning you have not explained yet what the primary mode is or to which primary mode these submodes belong to. It would be helpful to first know the Primary mode and their Submodes maybe a scheme illustrating the Modes and Submodes ? Same goes for page 208. If attitude hold ( in Position or Velocity sub-mode) is on, Heading hold is engaged. Here Position and Velocity are beeing thrown in the mix without a proper explaination of where these submodes belong in the hierarchy. Also at page 208 .Heading hold will be engaged when a few conditions are met. Why is the second point even mentioned in the list ? .The Helicopter is off the weight on wheels ("squad") switch. If the helicopter must meet a ground speed of at least 40knots and must be trimmed, obviously that means the aircraft must be flying or taxiing and is out of squad position. Wouldnt this fit better in the general Hold modes overview. Maybe i missed something or maybe i should get used to the style of how it written but can you keep it simple please ?

@Hangar200 great mission but i couldnt wrap my mind around the question why the aircraft wount lift as easy as the other missions. Are the other missions less realistic with regard to the weight ?

Thank you so much for your kind and helpfull response

I havnt dereailed anything thats why i kept my reaction brief. And i will dm you.

I agree and i know the rules but have you followed the total conversation ?

I also had a frame drop but that was after updating DCS. But i will definitely try the Openxr default setting to see if it has any effects for me. Thx for your input.

Hey Edmuss, I did found out later there was a link with your answer and i would like to offer my apologies.

Vr Guy just launched a new clip. Is Native DCS OPENXR now working properly ? I had it installed for my Varjo Aero but the mouse function had errors in the cockpit. I couldnt click on the switches the clickable positions were displaced three weeks ago and ED said they are working on it. Is this problem fixed now for Varjo users or maybe because the VR Guy usses a HP G2 Reverb he didnt experienced this issue ?

Ok ok Thank you for taking notice. -
Thx for your explaination. Ok ok... I was approaching this totally diffrent. I saw the Two Hold modes, Attitude and Bar Alt modes as primary modes to enter and only after entering those you could enter the other secundary Submodes Turn Coordinated and Heading hold mode. The way you have explained it is easier to understand. Instead of submode, default state would be a better term. E: Also makes sense. thx

In the Hold Modes section of the manual page 208 If Attitude Hold (any sub-mode) is off, Heading Hold is engaged when all of the following conditions are true: • One second has elapsed since Heading Hold was disengaged I dont get it .... First how or when do we enter the Submodes like Heading hold or Turn coordination sub mode and how can we take notice of this ? There is no way to figure out in what submode the aircraft is in. All these automatic submodes, Turn coordination, Heading Hold, could be engaged without the pilots knowledge ? So first you switch off Attitude hold mode, trying to meet those 6 conditions and hope that you have entered Heading Hold mode ? Or you could have messed with the buttons, entered a submode but is almost impossible to figure out in what Submode the aircraft is in.

Its very difficult to first figure out it someone ever had the same type of topic and start it in there. When i have a question what to do first ? How do i put it in the expected right place ?

Hmm .. thx for compairing the advantages against the disadvantages. Its a eye opener and seems there is so much to evaluate before they would consider begining with the module. But like you said we have some great free mods and they always kept them updated and running with every update, wouldnt they be able to figure something out as well for the Rah66 mod ? -

Yeah we dont want all types of unrealistic situations in DCS but i was just fantasizing what it would be like to have that as a module in DCS and also to have it operational in real life. The Comanche would be a game changer. Some compair it to the ivictus 360 and say this is the replacement for the RAH66 but thats not even close -

Hell Yeah !!! Its a pitty this helicopter was cancelled and never was taken in to service. I would like to see it in action. I have asked ED this same question a while ago because i tought Empire did a great job back then with the game Enemy Engaged RAH66 vs Hokum but there are no plans to develop this module sadly. -
Ok. I assume FM would be Flight Management. Thx.

Hanging under a rotor or balancing on a ball?
Clyber replied to RackMonkey's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I had the same question. ( Uncontrolled Roll https://forum.dcs.world/topic/317844-uncontrolled-roll/ ) I should have known it wasnt my controller or the settings because the KA50 is solid as a rock in the air with my controllers. -
I have noticed that my Apache waddles so much even if i keep my Cyclic stick straight on the centre position. The helicopter tilts slow but constantly from left to right like a boat. As if there is a giant deadzone in the Cyclic. I Is this normal behavior from this helicopter , is it the axis settings or is it my cyclic ?
