  1. Well, a dedicated server for Windows would be nice. But what we really need is a dedicated server for LINUX. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please ED, give us a dedicated server and a LINUX port. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  2. I'm using 2 Kraemer V800 8'' TFTs (connected via USB). Currently only one is mounted under one of the two MFD but I plan to integrate both TFT into a case with switches and buttons controled by an(programmable) x-keys Matrix Board (128 keys supported). USB-Monitors are sufficient for displaying the MFCDs. And there is no need for an additional graphics card. There is no screen that matches perfectly I think, so you will have to test. My experiences so far: Well, it works (obviously) but the buttons of the Cougar MFD do not match exactly the labels in the MFD. and the edges of the MFDS are rounded so they cover a bit of the display (but not much). but even with only one of the MFDs working I would miss them - even without a perfect solution so far.
  3. Well, I would'nt suggest to use direct mode. Some features of the sticks could not be used in this mode. I would STRONGLY recommend to use mapped mode. @outaluck1: If you have questions, feel free to ask. Configuring the stick and throttle is an easy task within the control manager. To make sure the sticks are working correctly in mapped mode, you have to put a small programm (a link to it) from CH in your autostart folder. In DCS you have to identify which direct x device is assigned to stick/throttle/pedals, but this is not a big deal. BTW: I really would suggest to build your own profile in the Control-Manager also. Profiles from other people will most likely do not match your needs.
  4. if I understand your solution correctly, this will work for every device with switches, that binds them to joystick buttons. I have searched for a similar solution for myself, but didn't found any. if this will work, this would be of great benefit for many users - not only warthog owners. Even for me, because I'm currently building my own input panel with switches and X-keys (some kind of a "universal-mini-cockpit" with integrated MFCDs). I have also asked the DCS support, if they know about a solution and they told me, they didn't support this... :music_whistling:
  5. Well, ty for your replies. It seems I will have to spend a bit more time with TrackIr. I don't have completely given up, but the first hours were frustrating. But for the next days I will play without TrackIr and try to get used into in between. I will be way to distracted playing Diablo 3 anyway. ;) To bad, that it takes a while to get used to it. I would free up several buttons on my HOTAS dedicated to viewing at the moment.
  6. I'm using the control-manager. My gear: Fighterstick, Pro-Throttle, Pro-Pedals and MFP including 50 key extension. First: I try to manipulate as few options ingame as possible. It's a lot easier when you have to reinstall and lost all game-configs. But this can happen with the ch maps also, so a backup - better storing it in a version control system is an obligation. One problem with this aproch is, that you have to reload the maps if you fly a different kind of aircraft, that differs much from the current one. I have two maps so far: One for A10 and one for BF2. The benefits of my approch: You could use a shift button for your config and double up the available controls. AFAIK this is not possible if you dont remap the buttons. To remember your config you could also enter notes for each button. Its also possible to use the scripting language to create a very specific behavior of the keys. Both approches have their drawbacks. For me remaping the stick each time I change the simulation is not a big hassle. It can be done without restarting the sim and its done in a few seconds. Your approch have the benefit of working in all aircrafts out of the box, but without the option of shift and special keys.
  7. Strange. In the axis tune options I notice also a slight eratic movement of nearly all axes but at most from the throttle. Ingame I notice nothing of it. There is only one thing I have done in the axis tune options: I increased the zero range of the throttle axis a bit to make sure the throttle is really idle when in idle position. Without this I couldnt start/stop the engines sometimes.
  8. Just my experiences with TrackIr. They are completely subjective, but perhaps others may have similar experiences or some tips to overcome the difficulties. Well I have done it and purchased a Trackir5. Used it for about 2 to 3 hours ingame so far but cant really adopt to it. Its no problem to move the head/view but if I want to look closer my eyes get to irritated because the view is not "fixed" anymore. I cant really see any details (distant planes, airfields,...). Second problem is, that my joystick is covering the lower part of my monitor. That was no problem without trackir yet. But its a mess if trackir is activated, because I have to shift my head a bit to view instruments sometimes... then trackir shifts my view and all gets complicated. Changing the position of the joystick is not an option, moving the monitor upward is possible only on a small amount and does not solve the problem. Its strange, but with trackir event then my eyes tends to focus on my joystick and not on the screen anymore (a similar effect like in some cars where the front windshield has some kind of heating to prevent steaming - Its hard/impossible for me to drive them because my eyes tend to focus on the the tiny visible lines in the windshield and not the street). At my last landing the first action was to deactivate Trackir because I cant concentrate on not moving my head and the landing procedure also. I cant keep my eyes on the landing strip. For me Trackir perhaps would be usable if there were some kind of activation key. Or perhaps I will have to spend a lot of more time getting used to this. But at the moment I dont think its possible because the view directions jumps/shakes to much. And a few hours are not enough to get used to it and I have tried a lot to check I can change the setup. Well, the conclusion is: Trackir perhaps is not for everyone. Perhaps I will overcome the limitations some day, but for me it was not possible to use it after 2 to 3 hours of training in any way. I will have to spend much more time to get used to it if its possible. Technically Trackir works well. But people are different in their possibilities to get used to it I think. André
  9. Well... the 3 modes/layers of the CH-Combo... pretty useless I think, because its to difficult to switch between layers. The MFP has an easy way to switch between two layers, but its also only useful in rare conditions(one layer for ground, another for flight). At least for me its way to complicated and take to much time to switch between 3 layers with a toggle button and keep an eye on the status LEDs also. For some functions I use a shift key, but I have never used the layers of the combo. If there were a three way rocker switch... André
  10. Yes, 4000x1080. matched perfectly.
  11. Hmmm... file copied, configured. Works at first (fullscreen enabled), just crashed before enabling the fuel pumps... running for about 30 secs until crash. zClear=0 and enableVBQuirk=1 changed nothing else. So I will have to try a bit more I think. PS: just tried the 32bit version. crash just after pressing flight-button. Monitors have been detected correctly. Neither the 64bit nor the 32bit version (2.08b) is running on my system. Very unstable on first sight, but the software is in an alpha stage so this is no complaint at the moment. But I dont see any chance to get this working; just checked the config and nothing dubios is in there. So I will remove it for now.
  12. Hmmm.. that thread doesnt exists. But I'm trying it at the moment. Because I don't have much time this week, it will have to wait until weekend, if I dont get it working in less than an hour.
  13. Well to bad. Well. I'm investigating this at the moment. Its possible to run on fullscreen (win7/64bit) an still using additional monitors? Also monitors connected with USB? And why a hotkey? I dont like the idea to switch with a hotkey. Currently I'm using a main monitor at 1920x1080, a second one at the right of1280x1024 and a third one at 800x600. The fourth monitor will also get a 800x600 resolution. The small monitors (both are 10'') are the rightmost ones (its not an option to change their position), the second monitor is not really used (for the left MFCD at the moment until the next monitor arrives). Hmmm... I can only check the documentation at the moment, but I will give it a try. Performance.... well at 4000x1080 its not really a problem at the moment. At the ground frame rates drop a bit, but still playable.
  14. Yes, the path is for A10, but BS2 is similar. If you don't change the aspect ratio you will have to experiment with coords, because the view wont appear as you might expect them. My first solution was to adjust the x/y coords of the MFCDs but then I got the aspect valua right an voila all views show up as expected. Maybe my finding is not the whole truth or perhaps wrong, but it worked for me. PS: its in the "saved games" folder of the OS user; most often C:\Users\username\Saved Games, if "username" is your login name.
  15. Well... its not that hard. It had cost me one evening for the basics and another for bugfixing the script. But ok, I'M working as a software developer in real life, so I have a bit experience in learning new languages. ;) But really: Its not that hard. I had ignored the script language of the CH manager so far. But A10 asks for a lot of keys and new solutions. Used up all 50 keys on the MFD for BS2 and nearly all in A10, but still not fully configured. So scripting was the last solution because another MFD would be to expensive and not practical, because it would use to much space on my desk. ;)
  16. No, it relies on CH Control Manager programming. So its only useful for the CH HOTAS. I use it mainly on my MFD and I use it a lot at the moment. But it works well when a audible feedback from the game is given. A primitive example of the script: ---------------------------------------- // Master Arm Switch %DEFINE MasterArmSwitchArm CMS.B5 %DEFINE MasterArmSwitchSafe CMS.B6 %DEFINE MasterArmSwitchTrain CMS.B7 [...] // Master Arm button observer sequence wait( JS4.B31 ); MasterArmSwitchArm = JS4.B31; delay(1); MasterArmSwitchArm = false; delay(10); MasterArmSwitchSafe = JS4.B31; delay(1); MasterArmSwitchSafe = false; delay(10); MasterArmSwitchTrain = JS4.B31; delay(1); MasterArmSwitchTrain = false; endsequence Buts thats the easy part. Rotation knobs are a bit complicated: // Formation Lights Knob %define FormationLightsButton (JS4.B44 OR JS4.B94) %DEFINE FormationLightsTimer CMS.B19 %DEFINE FormationLightsFlag CMS.B20 %DEFINE FormationLightsInc CMS.B37 %DEFINE FormationLightsDec CMS.B38 // formation lighs knob observer sequence wait( FormationLightsButton ); FormationLightsTimer = false; delay(10); FormationLightsTimer = FormationLightsButton; // was button release in first 0.5 seconds? if( FormationLightsFlag ) then FormationLightsDec=FormationLightsButton; else FormationLightsInc=FormationLightsButton; endif endsequence // formation lighs knob increase, if button was not releasedin first 0.5 seconds // formation lighs knob increase, if button was released in first 0.5 seconds sequence wait( not FormationLightsButton ); if( not FormationLightsTimer ) then FormationLightsFlag = true; else FormationLightsFlag = false; endif delay(20); FormationLightsFlag = false; endsequence ---- PS: indent is not shown and its an incomplete part of my script. But if anyone has a question, just ask. And: the CMS-buttons had to be assigned with the correct keys of cause...
  17. Is there a way to get the ingame map (F10) only on one monitor in a multimonitor setup? Is there a way to limit the size for the ingame map? I have configured A10 and Bs2 with a multimonitor setup an currently 3 monitors (soon 4 monitors). Unfortunately all with a different resolution. Well in flight it works great with one exception: the ingame map. I use it mainly for testing and training but because of the different monitor resolutions a part of the map is hidden. I'm still looking in the luas but didnt found anything so far...
  18. Did you adjust the aspect value in the ...\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config\options.lua? If not, try ["aspect"] = 3674/1440, I had similar problems before I have done this. André
  19. Well, in A10 its nearly useless. Agreed so far. In BS2 I trim the pedals often back to middle and so I cant live without Ctrl-Enter. Agreed also. But a trim reset can implemented in a way that do not lead to the are-you-still-there-question. Of cause the reset has to be done in a smooth way and at the moment the reset key is released the trim reset stops (even its not in neutral position). No rocket science. AFAIR the trim-reset in BS2 is not done in a smooth way, so for me it was useless. BTW: Is there any known way to get the Ctrl-Enter-Display on another screen position/monitor? PS: Ah! now I understand! You have an axis for trimming on the HOTAS. So yes, thats an interesting question how to utilizise this with a trim reset. :)
  20. No. They say their Control Manager works with CH Stuff only - which is obvious of course. Logitech for example also states on their website that their driver and programs are compatible with logitech products only. But other mices dont stop functioning only because you have a logitech mouse plugged in... Trust me, I'm using the MFP myself and the Cougar MFD also. They both work. Its quite nice to have the CH MFP but of course its only a compromise. Still 50 keys are not enough but thats the max number you can order in groups and remember on such a small area. And flexibility comes with a compromise - thats nearly unavoidable.
  21. lol :) Well of cause it will work. Its just another keyboard ADDITIONAL to a Cougar. You only will have to use an additional software (the control manager). Or do you really think, because the configuration software used for the cougar could not longer be used if you connect a logitech mouse for which the cougar software is of cause incompatible also? ;)
  22. Something like this? http://www.chproducts.com/Multi-Function-Panel-v13-d-724.html ;)
  23. I tried this but the sudden change in trimming caused me to many problems. So I prefer to retrim most of the time - and I will have to keep the pedals in mind. A "pedal reset" or a "stick only trim" would be a nice option. Often I retrim only the pedals back to center. With a little practise trimming works without an extra "pedal reset", but an extra key as an option would be a nice feature. especially if a keypress would not trim suddenly but trim smooth toward the center while the key was hold. Still dreaming... ;) BTW: The first days I have tried to fly in BS2 without trimming. A very hard experience. After reading the manual and some guides I got it. It works, but you have to get used to it. One of the first lessons flying the Ka-50 in BS2: You cant fly serious without trimming (and using/understanding the autopilot correctly). And someone mentioned allready: the RCTL-Enter key is very useful!!
  24. Well, I have never owned the TM Warthog. Just got my hands on for a short time in store. Its a matter of taste I think. But if I had no HOTAS at the moment, the TM (TH was a typo) HOTAS would be my choice too. Regardless some users that have reported it gets a lose center after a few months of use and something like that. Price is nearly the same. On quality is a CH a bit on the plus side in my opinion, but it lacks the nice metal feeling and the second axis of the throttle. So... still hard to decide... for that price a HOTAS must last long. CH does, TM... well, a few strange reports are out there. For a first HOTAS I would take the risk. For an upgrade it has to be a better investment without such a risk. TrackIR is on my wish list way before the Warthog. And just before TrackIR my own selfmade panel with integrated MFCDs... so the Warthog has to wait. ;) In my oppinion the original poster should decide if he trusts in the long term quality of the Warthog. If he does, he should consider it over the CH HOTAS. If not, well, the CH is not a bad choice. BTW: In germany the 500$ are not enough. The Warthog alone costs over 300 Euro, plus TrackIR, plus pedals it goes over 700$ easy.
  25. I know, but its a matter of priorities. At the moment I can live with some coolie hats and mini-sticks for viewing. ;) But Track-IR is on my wish list for the future. :) And because the original poster wants to buy Track-IR he probatly dont miss the mini-stick of the Pro Throttle to much.
