  1. Wait, we don't have the M-53P2 in DCS ?

The information we had on the aircraft was from older sources. Yes such as engine performance.

Even with the areas I am in, the 3D model side. Our data was public and from older and various different configurations, time periods, etc of the aircraft.

After the collaboration between the Armee De l'aire and us started, now we have information to basically bring the aircraft to a modern day configuration and performance. In all areas of the aircraft. That is why we are doing this mid life overhaul.

  2. I don't think you can compare flight model characteristics differences between other aircraft especially with wing shapes and different FBW systems.

We have a personal connection with the pilots from the 2/5 and we bug them constantly to really dive into comparison with the real aircraft and the DCS version.

We have developed a good relationship with them and the communication is strong. They use DCS as training tool so they want to give us the most accurate feed back as possible.

Actually we have even flown in their training simulators and the DCS version feel basically the same.

When I got in the sim and tried it, I was quite impressed with Captain Smiley's work on capturing the "The Feel" as everyone calls it with FM performance.

Except with the Thales simulated cockpit and a FBW simulated FLCS, also a throttle you have to slam in AB, etc. That is what draws the difference between their simulator and DCS that i could feel.

(Edit: Their Mirage 2000C is the newer P2 Engine which spooled up faster, and we are addressing that in updates with accurate information soon.)

The Mirage 2000C Stick is really hard to move and the pilots say that they learn to fly it "in the dime" not like how we do in in front of the monitors or in VR with our warthogs or Virpils slaming sticks from one side of the axis to the other.

Also another thing about the simulator and this goes for every single one ever created that nobody takes into account when comparing to a real plane.

Flying a real aircraft is a lot easier IRL than one on the computer, I don't care how good you code it and if you are Microsoft, ED, Xplane or even Thales within a million dollar simulator.

It is so much easier in a real plane than any sim.

  3. The cockpit is undergoing new updates with the Dark Grey (current) color change, adding other items and as seen in pics the NVG filers which are really Plexiglas plates and dark green film over the lighted areas such as the PPA, RWR, Gear ind, Caution panel, Fuel Qty, and place-cards over other items such as Engine lights, and A/P.

  4. French Air Force Mirage 2000C have been converted to use NVG. I have seen and been in the cockpit personally with the NVG converision. As Zeus said we will be adding NVG to the M2000C Module.

  5. There is dash 1 for flight, and a dash 34 for weapons with the manuals.

It will use the sniper pod, but still working on the normal items in the pit. So no anwsers right now

  6. Our is 15 April 1993 and is 15 August 1989

I figured since we are going to have NVG usage in DCS best to make the studs and filter when in NVG.

Also I noticed the Center MPCD, some have BIT and some don't which would be better?

  7. Just being slightly picky, but the screws on the face plate were changed to posts in circa ‘02. There’s a green plate the secured over the UFC to filter the digital readouts. The NVG filters secured on the posts until the new UFCs were installed

I can add the posts, you wouldn't happen to have info on that filter used for NVG?

There is 4 posts 2 up top and 2 under the UHF knobs. Just to be clear they are ball ends with hex shaft and flared out base?

  8. If you have an actual light source from max used such as flood light in cockpit (for example), it will shine through the console. In reality the flood light should cast a shadow on the floor from the console but doesn't in the DCS cockpit. :(

The Refuel lights or strobes make their way into the cockpit and the fuselage doesn't block it.

You can see this in the AV8BNA. The flood lights on the canopy bow, will cast light through the UFC to the opposite side of the panel.

  9. Yes there is glass polygons and use 3C textures. There will be more updates mid March. Will fine tune PBR textures, and also the M2000's exterior bumps should be fixed in next update, AV8BNA's will come after my return.

  10. Hi Guys,

I will look at and see if I can address the normal maps before I go out of town. The rho and theta symbols on HSI and also the VTB have been addressed and committed changes in our system for an update to ED.

So hopefully that will make it out with the next update. Sorry about that, all of the diffuse textures were redone for PBR and it was a huge task, so some things might have been missed.

  11. Yes that has been adjusted I don't know when it will come out. The reason is DCS engine doesn't cast a shadow from the fuselage so the light doesn't shine in the cockpit. We adjusted it by rotating the light source slightly to the right. Just enough to keep it from coming in the cockpit but still able to light the refuel area.

There is still some light on the right aux panel.
