1. As an 11B2P = Airborne Infantry in combat you do not run from anything. Aircraft or not. That is what makes a good Army vs. a Gaggle of troops. That last thing you do is unass the vehicle at every threat you encounter. You turn and draw all weapons to a single point in front of the oncoming aircraft and unload hell. Thousands of 5.56, 7.62, and 12.7 mm rounds will make quick work of most aircraft dumb enough to do a strafing run. Especially if we had Vulcan turrets attached as we did most of the time. The air threat today is low so you do not have such firepower organic in convoys. Yea we also had at least one stinger for every two vehicles. Pulling off of the road is more for keeping it clear once the threat is over and you can resume mission. Tough to drive through a bunch of burning hulks. Herring bone is about sectors of fire and security. There is no place you can hide from aircraft and we knew that. So we would go down fighting rather than scattering like cockroaches. To a civilian it may sound idiotic but to a Soldier it is reaction under fire. That is why they drill you so much.
2. Mine was on the Amiga 500 back in 87. F-18 Interceptor!
3. This pic was from tonight's testing of lights and afterburner effects. These are still WIP but I really like how this turned out. Still need quite a few more lights and effect tweaks but I wanted to share with you now. Enjoy! To Keep up with our progress feel free to visit our page on Facebook. i will make a point to post it the ED forums till we get our own in the Dev Section. http://www.facebook.com/VRCF100
4. All I can say is that is some Sexy Eagles! Great work!
5. P*Funk, are a seriously on a campaign to prove that optimism is wrong, and that we should all be squatters till someone brings out a new aircraft for DCS successfully? Then if a project fails to materialize we get to say "I told you so"? Every one of the projects being announced is a product of passion, desire, and long hours of hard tedious work. Unlike you it seems, each of the project members would much rather spend their time on the challenging tasks at hand. You continue to spew venom as if it were wisdom yet nothing you have said lends any credence to your point. From here on I am just going to ignore your posts all together. I hope you find happiness soon because your sad :badmood:existence, well it is just sad.
6. Since my last post the Team has decided to create a Facebook project page so you can see what we have accomplished to date. Feel free to post. http://www.facebook.com/VRCF100
7. First off I have to say that we dropped the ball on this one. TEAM VRC was not ready to divulge our project aircraft until we had a cockpit ready for video. The justification for doing so was for the sole purpose to secure our Dev status with ED. Since you have video proof of our efforts, be it not very flattering, I am confirming that we are working on the F-100D Super Sabre. We will release 3 mods based on this airframe: QF-100D which is depicted in the above video. F-100D Thunderbird variant - later releases will include AFM. F-100D Full combat ready with all systems, 6 DOF, and clickable cockpit. Our team is working diligently to get up to speed and heavily into reverse engineering code so we can bring our Cockpit to life. We are busting through every barrier that we hit and the team is producing some of the best work I have seen in a freeware effort. We have to discuss as a team what our next steps are to be, however I am sure that we will be forthcoming with screenshots and videos. Our goal is to provide the Community with the HUN so you can enjoy DCSW even more until your favorite mods are available. Stay tuned.
8. I would suggest to go with the ICE or G models but both have their challenges. I have not forgotten our conversation.
9. Team VRC maintains the vision to create a fast mover add-on with high quality graphics, high fidelity FM and fully clickable cockpit and systems. Our choice for our first project was not a market focused one. It was a test bed for us to get up to speed on our development process. And give a chance to mature as a team before we take on something like the Aardvark, Phantom or Tornado which are all awesome aircraft. We have begun building our project based on our design concepts and now have a player flyable aircraft with ordinance and an external model that is just looking great. We are now working on the cockpit and hitting wall after wall especially after 1.22 due to lack of documentation. Let us figure out the cockpit args and we will publish our findings. Our progress toward getting development status is a revolving door. We need a cockpit in our aircraft for the proof of concept but we do not have enough documentation to get there. Not to worry we are a tenuous group. We plan to release our Fast Mover and our Helo for free to hopefully to entice some new players over to DCSW with more free offerings then just the SU-25 to check out before they buy. It will not be till next year before we really start developing an aircraft that we are passionate about as team. Just one of the many milestones that we have to pass on our way to becoming a respected development shop. So to help you understand, the working going on behind the scenes is not sexy, it is allot of hard work and set back after set back. In conclusion, I agree with you on everyone of your points.
10. Both Roiegat and SkateZilla are two of our key players in the development of our aircraft. Our promise to you is that all of our efforts are done for you. The first two project aircraft .lua files will be commented and released to you for free. Our motivation is to spur more home grown development projects. Also we want to draw in new pilots from other sims to DCSW by offering a fast mover and a chopper free so they have more choices then the SU-25 to try out. I can say that we have a fully player controlled aircaft that is armed and deadly. We are working on the cockpit, systems, and FM. We will be releasing videos once we get to a point in our development that we are comfortable to disclose our progress. Stay tuned.
11. Thank you Aaron. I appreciate you taking time to do this.
12. So devices are where you define pumps, transfer valves ect... Yes, a video would be great.
13. Has anyone successfully layout a fully redundant and or multi-tier fuel or electrical systems in lua? I can locate the weapons, and oxygen, environmental systems but not anything on fuel or electrical. it looks like the devices have some bearing on these but the relationship is not clear to me. Any help guiding me in the right direction is much appreciated.
14. At this time we fully intend to keep them free. The two air frames are purely for proof of concept and to help us get our development process down. We will continue to improve them as we mature as a team.
15. The current team VRC Roster:
Name -- VRC Role CptSmiley -- Flight Dynamics / Integrator Gecko6 -- Product / Release Manager Ich666 -- Lead Modeler Joey45 -- Texture Artist / Tester Lovac -- Coder / Tester Raptor -- Coder / Tester Spiderpig -- Mod Packaging / Research /Tester Simast -- Coder / Tester Skate Zila -- Lead Modeler / Integrator
Some members have not consented to releasing their affiliations at this time. We are also in the process of designing a VRC logo to identify team members. Disclaimer: Team members are participating on their own accord and are not paid. So harassment will not be tolerated nor will it be acknowledged. Everyone here at VRC is doing this because we want to support the Community on our own time and when our family, jobs, daily life allows us the do so. Respect is key!
16. 1. The community can participate in our efforts to release aircraft as the need arises. Right now the need is focused on modeling and FM development. 2. The team is invite only and the criteria is not set in stone. If you have a skill set that we are in need of you will surely be invited. Just contact me anytime. 3. The site we are using is not open as of yet. We are in the process of acquiring out 3rd Party Dev status with the producers and ED. Till then our site is secret on Facebook. Once we find out what we can say based on the NDA we will gladly open the site up. We hope to obtain our forum project thread in the Dev section soon and that will be were most of the communication come from. The first two projects are going to be free to you all. We are in the learning as we go phase but we are capturing lessons learned. Those will be made available to the Community. I hope I answered your questions.
17. Let me talk to the team and I will see who wants to be introduced and who wants to stay in the shadows. We will be asking for skilled folks to step up from time to time and join us as we blaze down the trail. As you already know cjsoques is an active member of our team from his post this morning. I will have a team roster by the end of the day for you all.
18. We have all read that and had it repeated time and again. But thank you for reiterating it.
19. The CH-53 is on our list to do but there are allot of systems and optics that need to be coded. We will get there but right now it is all about the KISS method.
20. Not subtle enough? :) Should bring a tear to your eye when you see it.
21. Will this be a free module or paid? The first modules will be free and under constant development until we get it right. Lessons learned. However we do have the option to go paid modules but we feel the team needs to get internal process and procedures down before we can develop to the quality you expect in a paid module. What is that date for? public beta or your own subsection on the forums and like a video and more info? This date is for our team to bring everything together so we can show ED that we have the skill and business case to bring us on as developers. Once we have a signed development contract our first bird should be ready for beta. Cockpit will continue to be updated and clickable as the beta proceeds. Till we get to that it is all speculation. I hope this answers your questions neroroxxx.
22. It has been just over a week when I posted on the forums here asking if anyone would be interested in forming a Dev Team to build and release aircraft for DCSW. I was sure that there would be a lot of interest and little action. The Good news is that I was wrong! Team VRC We are now 10 members strong and many others inquiring about us. We have filled the major roles with very capable and very talented folks. We have our own shared development environment and are in constant communication. The name chosen for our team is Virtual Reality Combat (VRC). VRC Vision To design and build high quality products for the DCS World. Also to support community members through mentoring, development guidance, and educating new developers on DCS Mod development. VRC Mission Provide high quality aircraft and ground vehicles to the DCS Community that fulfills the following guidelines. Highly detailed models and cockpits Advance Flight Modeling Multi-National liveries true to historical records Real World systems operation reflecting the original vehicle Ordnance load outs are representative of each Nations unique mission requirements 6DOF cockpit “fully clickable at final release” High fidelity sounds and effects VRC Planned Releases We have designed two parallel tracks for our releases. 1. Fixed Wing Track 2. Helicopter Track Fixed Wing Track Our project lead Modeler is busy migrating a model that we acquired and is in the process of finalizing the animations, Texture correction, and lighting attachments. He has provided no less than 15 screens of your bird in game and she is under AI control. He has to fix a lot of anomalies and tweak it to his standards which are very high. You will not be disappointed in this level of detail. -- I choose to not disclose any specifics on our air frame choice to prevent someone else trumping us when we apply for our license. -- Helicopter Track Your new helicopter is being created from scratch by our second lead Modeler and is in the process of scrutinizing 3view drawings. This bird will fit in with existing choppers in DCS and will be fun to fly. It is a single seat air frame that does have a copilot seat but very rarely utilized. So we are making it single only to speed up development time. Later on we plan to update her to take advantage of the second seat as a gunner role. It is a muli-mission bird but does not have the legs or payload to fight very long. -- Once again I choose to keep our efforts nonpublic at this time for the same reasons. -- Summary Both of these projects are for the DCS Community and we hope to prove that development is not just for the big boys. The only tentative date that I can give you all is Mid December time frame. We plan to have our proof of concept flights done in support of obtaining our license and getting our forum topic in the Developer area of the ED Forums. Stay Tuned.
23. You are correct. This is one of the key things we need to discuss as a team. Our framework release methodology.
24. I have created a test session for the purpose of evaluation. http://code.google.com/p/dcs-open-source/ So far i am not that impressed. I have set up a private project Management site that has much more customization capabilities to fit our needs. PHProjekt Again this will be part of the agenda for the first discussion.
25. This is a planning thread for the upcoming planning session. Three questions need to be answered before I can proceed, so please answer the poll and i will announce the time and specifics of the meeting. How should this meeting be conducted? When should this meeting be conducted? Closed session or open?
