RvE Lockon Realism Mod Release Candidate 4 (Public Beta)
A.S replied to RvEYoda's topic in DCS Modding
Hmm ...what about 3 alternative Loads to choose from.. otherwise with the totall freedom to pick everything the romantic "coming closer" to that bia....ches down there would be gone. See it from the serverside.... if you allow everything...you have to consider that...almost everyone will take the biggest strongest boom booms he can get ..(as usual) ....then you have to design the mission following this behave ... and the idea of bringing combats "closer" would be lost.. also answering with stronger SAMs to that "gimme all" payload would influence airspace...(a2a) what u think? -

Right now the strikers have fixed payloads (DONT CHANGE PAYLOAD in loadout screen) and that for a very good reason - though changing strikers payload will not be detected by amraact yet - only fighters get punished. The type, location and strenght of the ground targets are adjusted and placed in such a way that it provides fair good balanced A2G Missions for A-10s and Su-25s. Payloads also have been considered to guarantee this too. In the Outbreak mission you have a kind of capture the flag situation where enemy base is target....in Inbound missions its more like a pintpoint strike where you have to get inbound or/and retreating units.....in Last Stand mission its more like a combined attack (a-10s have to shoot free a corridor with Night-Mavs and su-25s have to illuminate a area with candles ...and this area is save under specific circumstances ..altitude, flank and supported by own ground Sams a bit more to defend fighters from other side etc) Once studying the briefings good...you can draw or plan your attacks well. It wouldnt make senes to hunt Gepards and Vulcans with kh-58 if you know what i mean BUT ...we are already thinking about this topic....and we are open for any suggestions....keep in mind, that just adding more stuff on your jet to make live easier is not the only goal....also mission logic has to provide nice action and challange and balance in a online environment. Another reason why we haven´t done anyhting yet (ground) is also to hear you guys ideas in the test phase. -

1. Cause real maddogs dont operate like target search drones! and maddoging is not a standart attack option. It makes no sense at all to maddog in real except very very few cases. example: Guidance system overview Interception course stage AMRAAM uses two-stage guidance when fired at long range. The aircraft passes data to the missile just before launch, giving it information about the location of the target aircraft from the launch point and its direction and speed. The missile uses this information to fly on an interception course to the target using its built in inertial navigation system (INS). This information is generally obtained using the launching aircraft's radar, although it could come from an infra-red search and tracking system (IRST), from a data link from another fighter aircraft, or from an AWACS aircraft. If the firing aircraft or surrogate continues to track the target, periodic updates are sent to the missile telling it of any changes in the target's direction and speed, allowing it to adjust its course so that it is able to close to self-homing distance while keeping the target aircraft in the basket in which it will be able to find it. Not all AMRAAM users have elected to purchase the mid-course update option, which limits AMRAAM's effectiveness in some scenarios. The RAF initially opted not to use mid-course update for its Tornado F3 force, only to discover that without it, testing proved the AMRAAM was less effective in BVR engagements than the older semi-active radar homing BAE Skyflash weapon--the AIM-120's own radar is necessarily of limited range and power compared to that of the launch aircraft. Terminal stage and impact Once the missile closes to self-homing distance, it turns on its active radar seeker and searches for the target aircraft. If the target is in or near the expected location, the missile will find it and guide itself to the target from this point. If the missile is fired at short range (typically, visual range), it can use its active seeker just after launch, making the missile truly fire-and-forget. At the point where an AMRAAM switches to autonomous self-guidance, the NATO brevity word "MADDOG" would be called out on the radio to inform other pilots, just as "Fox Three" would be called out upon launch In Lockon Madogs go off the rails like super scaning drones jumping on track without any guidance or midcourse updates, in other words they scan the whole front sphere in spiraling intervals and therfore better then your jet often. Many others reasons why you would avoid a maddog in real...anyways... Thats why NO maddog in this MOD We want pilots to lock (eos or radar) before they shoot ....whats so wrong with this more advanced thinking? I dont know how you guys find targets so easy and can place a "save" maddog into them ..are your enemy planes bigger (cough*) or have you special eyes (double cough*) ....so whats the problem with locking first? Gives you even a better shot. Shouldn´t be a big problem..isnt it? And cmon a sneaky far range maddog head on shot and pray is not all ...isnt it too? 2. what? that is not even possible in standart lockon. Are you using payload editor? 3. because commander and ground-crew in RVE server have put it on your wings....and thats all you have. Here your answers. -

Yo!!? what the h.... is wrong with this guy? 1st Sanakan... this is a MOD on ONE server... an IDEA .... alot people like it....if you are not able to understand the reason of NO-maddoging or fixed payloads, what has been over and over discussed in this post and since ages,... then i cant not help you. The servers name was 80s ..meaning there was no ER back in 80s..!! Now the server runs as 90s! How smart are you to argument on something what you even havent tried to understand. Fixed Payloads is because we want to make it more advanced, simply said. (how can i explain this to him lol) But i m sure at one point, if you become advanced enough you will see the lights. 2nd of all im EVERY day in hyperlobby. 3rd If you dont like it...OK....respected...and noticed....now go somewhere else and do what you want and where you are free to do so. Is that fair enough? geeeez Flankerator, this mod will not became THE standart of Lockon community. Its an idea on our server, and to be honest this kind of discussion makes me feel very wiered about releasing anything from it as client version. Few, who like it will enjoy it. Others will try it...others will dont like it. Period. Im sure there is enough room for you and others to maintain as usual and in prefered servers. 169th is a very nice Server too. All we try is to improve gameplay in advanced kind. We are sick of "cheap" playing...and YES we are also good in this but we dont like it...either in realism aspect or fun-view. Dont think that we are not in Lockon since the first days. We have seen almost all kind of wiered things and lacks just missing in many hearts here (look patch 1.13 post) ...thats the reason why we try to make something better. All i hear is "...ohhh noooooooooo ....they will make my maddog unreal....now, how i can make killkillkill ??? i must learn different...and what bout my tricks.....oh noooooo......" thats not the kind of critic we need....we want critic...but inteligent and creativ. so if someone has to add something, welcome but in a way what makes sense and not offtopic argumentation or unbased expressions of something something....... Su-27 XFKlsDIHyperHybridTurbO can carry R-77E-Special with new colors or Pilot Kalibaba shot ET maddog in reallive in 1898 and killed grandma of enemy has NOTHING to do with this MOD. over. -

Sanakan.....critic welcome...but what excatly you dont like and why? If you dont like the change, no problem we dont change lockon, we just change our server. But if you start argumentation you have to be more specific and understandable in things you try to say. Following your logic...every change would be a no-go....also terrain mods....and gfx mods.... cuz ED made this game and it is how it is...and its a game... ??? what? -

RvE 90´s Server is UP and running Mig-29 S instead of A 2x R-73 1x R-27ER 1x R-27ET 2x R-77 Su- 27 2x R-73 2x R-27ET 4x R-27ER F-15C 2x AIM-9 2x AIM-7 4x AIM-120 summary Modifications: http://www.f.kth.se/~kjolhede/LRMrc5.pdf A quick reminder how the Campaign runs: The battle starts in the middle and moves to the right OR to the left depending which side won. Depending which side fullfills primary objecitves ( Primary 1 Strikers or A2A reducing Forces to in chat-window displayed number before reinforcements can arrive) the next mission will move towards the loosers side and move the lines to their disadvantage. If the previous looser side wins it will move one mission back again. Goal is to defeat one side in its last stand. Every Mission has its own characteristics (check briefings always) -

When the 90s server comes up (soon) CHANGES: Mig-29 S instead of A 2x R-73 1x R-27ER 1x R-27ET 2x R-77 Su- 27 2x R-73 2x R-27ET 4x R-27ER F-15C 2x AIM-9 2x AIM-7 4x AIM-120 and with new AIM-120 and R-77 anti-exploit dodge fix Then you will have also a new PAYLOAD CHECK included, meaning if you change payload and join the server, you will not be able to spool up your engines :music_whistling: I think that was long time wished by many, wasnt it ? :smilewink: -

This is a legitime point of view and statement. Overall spoken and worth to be considered. But lil bit too overall missing the details what is changed and why. Development lives from attempts to improve things and noone can deny the lacks we have. Besides: We dont change the Sim. We just provide THIS environment on our server...... everyone is free to "taste" it or not and give their impressions and suggestions. A Sim will stay a strong sim over years ONLY if devs and simmers are interested in to improve it over time !! Peace. -

AIM-120 behaves still like b4 (energy performance) but the "missing in last second with uber-pull" is fixed so you cant barrol roll or exploit dodge it anymore.(same for R-77) You have to dodge it "normal" by breaking lock...bleeding off etc etc etc So what does this mean compared F-15 vs a Su-27 and 27ERs ? With new reduced chaffs and ECM/ECCM logics it means this: You become very very deady in the Su-27 IF youknow how to play out your advantages against a F-15 using your better performances at range and closure. Disengagement is an option for both sides and always will be. That s the part if it comes down to Wingman tactics and fromations. You can always abort an attack if given conditions are not right. The trick is to force the bandits to that position where the attack IS right. (few missiles and maneuvers draw the fight but ONE missile kills) You have a way upper hand in the Su-27 at range and closure if you know how to use your performance advantages for your best. Noone forces you to go headon with a 8x120AIM onboard Eagle if he is just truning and shooting turning and shooting....(if you dont go maverick he will rtb with empty pants) Each Plattform (15 and 27) has its strong and weak points in that situation so you have to know how to use it. If you fight on different plattforms you have to use that difference. Thats why we talk about E-F-A Poles....Notching....Pince....Drag..Box Posthole......etc etc etc.....DLZ ...PK.......Rmax Rmin....... these are values we fight with....NOT MADDOG or EXPLOITS. Our goal is to make BVR to that what is it should be away from the "tricks" the game unfortunatly provides. IF you want to balance it you can force pilots to use their load more disciplined and strategically...you can say....lets talk about how many missiles and which one each side is allowed to carry. F-15 2xAIM-120 4xAIM-7 few Sidewhiners Su-27 4xER 2xET Mig29 2xR-77 2xETorER/ET solutions like this in my opinion is a very nice way to "balance". EDIT: different thinking .....and few stories i have expierienced..... i fly Falcon and Lockon...and i love both ! In Faclon for example your Mission is accomplished if your given or choosen Combat Mission Role (BARCAP, Intercept, SEAD whatever) is fullfilled in a Battle-Environment (online servers or campaign-sinlgeplayer) if you succeeded in doing so and returning to Base alive. IF you kill someone A2A ....great ..extrapoint....but you Mission is priority. In Lockon mostly if you join a online server you want to make as many kills as possible, even if you have alot losses and end up with a 1000kills to 800losses stat on one of the stats pages. (Honestly...how many are reading the briefings if they joing a server..... truly isnt it mostly...HIT FLY FAST kill MUCH fast and be a "hero" often?) Lockon has way more to provide in terms of gameplay...if we would use it. think about this...... -

A.S replied to RvEYoda's topic in DCS Modding
The "style" to MADDOG as a kind of attack is not realistic AT ALL (if you say in real life they maddog...think when and why only) In very very few cases u may maddog a missile in real but generally it makes NO sense do to so at all. I know in Lockon it works well especially with LNGT mode.....and i know that its the easy way for lowflyers to pop up on AWACS symbols and do so...but that s not BVR combat...that´s smart gameplay, that figuring out how to make best points on a flipper....or how to avoid bullets with bunyjumping in shooters...etc etc etc lol Talking bout Maddog punishing or not..... in my opinion it should not be possible at all......Fly BVR in its proper way guys ...away from "tricks" which just works ingame. That doesnt make it legitime only cuz it counts for you or not. It s just wrong. DeV should consider excatly these things creating a SIM. If the missiles would operate correct (in coding) you would pffffff bidon blub your maddogs....or waste it ....or hit 1 of 20 shots maybe.. TWS shots on F-15 is a different topic in functionality and not compareable in terms of .. "oh they can shoot silent...we want it too" Besides if you have a F-15 inbound ....force him to go STT down to burnthrough and once there it doesnt matter anymore cuz fight is written new. With that new ECM - ECCM change right now done....far range TWS shots wont work either. :smilewink: -

Just made a testflights vs the "new" AIM-120 (RvE-server-side ..same for R-77 ) shot at me from Yoda. Im impressed !!! NOW ..you have to fight the missile FIRST before you even think about re-engagement. Its sticks on you like Glue....though its still possible to defend it from 8nm with really smart timing and flight....but headon dodge-merge-last moment all missiles spamming everyone .. FORGET IT !! I tried few known headon dodge exploits.... no chance...do it the proper way honey.. This fact was always the biggest problem if it came down to wing-tactics...cuz folks just ingnored missiles by exploit dodging and tacitcs became almost meaningless..... i hated the days of flying on servers.. ala ..who knows the better exploits. Also nice the new 2nd launch delay 1.5 second. This and ET-maddog "dealer" may allow a 90s server ..maybe PS: this is not related to reduced chaff -
awesome.. i solved the interface issue with a very efficient mutli functional easy to reach and use, all in one board.. http://www.priz24.de/images/ingram/2020800000073440291.jpg :music_whistling::megalol:

"Opposition defends Joint Strike Fighter over simulated dogfights"
A.S replied to Case's topic in Military and Aviation
Im not suprised, but you dont have to forget the different roles these Jets are made for. Eeach of them have different qualities if it comes down to performance in different fields ( tactical and operational ). Where the JSF is a "mix" of Mini awacs, fighter and bomber etc etc....the Sukhoi may have upper hand in pure dogfight. To analyse this objectivly you have to split the pure BFM perfromance abilities for each..... and compare this in that manner.... then still there is room for DACT fights ending up in pilots skills.
