  1. Hi guys I’m pretty good on most types of compass being ex military from an age prior to GPS! I’m setting the system as per Chucks Guide, which makes sense. Correct me if I’m wrong align the T with the N and apply the magnetic variation to get the correct heading? For the love of me I can’t get the heading to match with the F10 Map. In fact it’s no where near it. I’m setting from the ramp. The only thing I can think is maybe the plane needs to be straight in level flight? Any help much appreciated! 4. Hi Just about mastering the startup, takeoff and navigation in this old bird! However after doing the perfect circuit (my RL Cessna instructor would be proud), I get wing touch after a massive yaw to the left! Prior to finals I have ensure that sideslip is spot on and straight. I know for take off we have full rudder trim right. Should I be doing that just as I touch down or does anyone else have a theory? Cheers in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  5. I am a RL Cessna pilot and have to say. Take your time with the start up, get to know where the switches are, get to know the take off speeds (rotation) and the. Approach and landing procedures. Start flying a circuit of the airfield (google VFR circuits) and get used to take off / landing. Then get into the manual for whatever module you are into. Slowly learn each system nav / weapon until you have mastered it. Then it’s practice, practice and practice!! I’m still addicted many years later to this sim! I’m actually now designing missions! 6. Spitfire needs some love too! Also one of my favourite ones is the MIG 15! I’m loving the FA-18 but it’s not complete yet so I’d hold off on that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  7. All I can advise is when you are able upgrade! 2.5 is the best thing that has happened to DCS! The new maps are awesome! I am sad I even built my system mainly for DCS! I use track IR and the VIVE for VR and both experiences are excellent! I fly Cessna 172 in real life and have to say 2.5 is as real as flying gets! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  8. Hi guys I am looking advice on the following. How to end the mission on player aircraft shutdown. Doing a transport mission and want it to end when the player shuts down the heli after he rtb’s Also is there a suitable trigger for troops finished loading that I can use a sound or text message? Thanks Gary Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  10. Thanks Quadg! Will watch And attempt it! I’ve been a passenger in all sorts of heli as an infantry air assault British soldier, so it’s quite funny I’m only learning the mechanics behind it now! I had an incident in the balkans in a Lynx where there was a funny beeping noise and flares started discharging from the rear, then stomach in mouth evasive stuff! I only realise now it was more than likely a lock on from a manpad or other air defence system haha! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  11. I hope they can change the voiceover and speed, as R/L procedure is knots in the western world. If it was a changeable option that would be great! I know there is a lot more to do that takes priority, maybe some day! You Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. I don’t think it’s an option you can change without changing scripts and adding custom voiceovers for read back in knots. Best conversion is the following page https://www.aqua-calc.com/mobile/convert/speed/knot-to-meter-per-second Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Have been on and around helicopters in my old career, however have no clue in the procedures! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Hi I have the UH-1 module and have now got to grips with all the controls and systems! What is the correct sequence from start to take off. Is it? Permission to start Start up Hover check Taxi Take off from runway Do we take off from the same as planes IE from the edge of the runway? Having some issues getting arc to acknowledge permission to take off! Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  16. Hi Does anyone know if there is an issue uploading user missions? I have done quite a few and this is the first issue?? Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  17. Yip I’m a clampet! For some reason the last update deselected this option! The click on the small tank fixed it!!! Cheers! I was changing the LUA file for Pete sakes haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  18. Hi Does anyone know what happened to the 3D unit view in the editor?? All of a sudden it has disappeared!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  20. Too right! A Cessna 152 I had been training in downed with another crew on board and it may have been carb ice. In the old GA planes it makes the engine run rough and you have a very limited time before full stall! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. Like I say so have no experience in real FA18 and have only done fighters in the armchair! I would say fuel is the main limitation, if you saw the real ones using AB for climb and catch-up. If anyone can find tech specs for AB use it would be interesting to know. Have tried checking all sorts of places, but there is only general advice. Nothing on time limits etc. I will test later and do a whole tank on AB and see if DCS models any related fault. Found some info re the F16. If you were to fly at full AB you have 9mins on main tank. That’s frightening, when the nearest runway is on the horizon! It must be a very realistic model if we are getting into the nitty gritty specs! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. https://www.baesystems.com/en/download-en/20180518171117/1434583076231.pdf Also re the afterburners. It is advised they are only used when really necessary, I.E for combat reasons or take off / carrier landing. They will massively increase your fuel usage. You also run the risk of structural damage with prolonged use. Best advice is use only when necessary! Don’t know if a fault is modelled in DCS, but a possibility. 23. Hi I could be wrong! I’m not a fighter pilot, but do some fun in RL Cessna. I noticed the absence of the transponder too! I believe that the system used is integrated into the IFF system on most military applications. Click the link below and you can see a BAE system for the hornet. https://www.baesystems.com/en/download-en/20180518194500/1434555671810.pdf I’m sure a civilian controller see’s a unique military code and signal for each craft. 24. Great to see some like minded mission makers! I served in a Air Assault Unit in the British Army and did many Ops. I have lots of ideas, however it takes massive effort and skill to put on to the DCS canvas! Just not enough hours in the day to do what I want!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
