  1. An encoder can only be two buttons. Does hardware button 1&2 light up in MMJoy when you twist the encoder?

Even if you have attached the encoder correctly, the pulse that the encoder generates may be too fast to register. You have to set up a timer, that increase the signal duration.

Use the VKB Button tester, and click the log to see if there is any signals being registered.

  2. Nice mod!

How is centering with that damper?

Are the pedal springs strong enough to bring the pedals to center?

I bought a couple of large RC car dampers. The throw is only about 45mm, so I will have to mount them closer to the pivot, where I can find a range of motion of about +/- 20mm. But they will help with centering force.

  3. That sounds like the problem I had (have?).

FPS were a silky smooth 90, but as soon as I moved my head, the entire picture started to stutter, while FPS stayed at 90.

I googled this and found people with similar problems.

Some people reported that turning ASW on and off a few times, solved it.

Others simply took the HMD off, and put it on again (or took it of and used a finger to activate the proximity sensor) a few times.

Others seemed to correlate this with MSI Afterburner or ASUS GPU Tweak, and similar GPU overclockers. Even ASUS Aura could be the culprit.

I uninstalled the ASUS software I had installed, and haven’t seen this problem since... Fingers crossed!

  4. Go get the VR shader mod. Thats basically FFR

I have used it. Stopped a few DCS updates ago because of performance increased to get by without the mod.

The VR shader mod has partial screen MSAA where the anti aliasing is applied to just a defined center circle and it works really well.

It doesn’t do anything to the resolution, which remains the same througout the view.

But the basic concept is the same; only present high quality imagery where it can be seen.

  5. The real questiin is there anything that can push enough pixels to make it work.

In time, there will be hardware capable of running this kind of resolution.

It is also possible that they can run in a foveated rendering mode, where just the center view utilizes the high resolution, and the surrounding area has a lower res. Other companies are looking into this as a step towards true fovea tracking and rendering.

Either way, I’m happy to see that not all VR devs are going for stand alone solutions...

  6. Yeah, there is a soundloop at the entire RPM spectrum. I have never flown the CEII, but several other Lycoming powered aircraft, with or without constant speed props. The engine and propeller sond should be more sedate, and constant. Almost boring...

  7. Yes... Again, I’m not saying you are wrong. Relax, ok?

For all I know they will revisit the Sabre module. Would be great if they did.

Juuuust trying to give you some perspective.

Btw, and please don’t blow a fuse as I’m just making this as a friendly remark.

Your sig needs a spellcheck. It’s Noctua, hard drives and Samsung.

  8. Relax, Kev2go.

I’m not saying you are wrong. This is evidently very important to you.

Just saying that it’s a sim, so features may have been added to cater to a wider audience.

You may not agree with this, but you’re not the developer, who needs to earn a buck from this module.

    That’s all.

  9. A) its a surplus plane sold off to Spain, not a sabre operated in USAF inventory.

Well, there you have it. They may have chosen this configuration to accomodate more users.

Or, we have this version simply because the devs got hold of a surviving airframe that they could document. And survivors and museum aircraft often are franken ships because many are put toghether from multiple airframes.

    to prove a point.

My point would be that DCS is a simulator.

And with the current F-86 config we can simulate a larger timeframe and more operators...

Sure, more variants would be fun. It would also mean more work for the devs, that they probably would like to be compensated for. That would be absolutely fine with me. But I don’t know how well multiple F-86 variant modules would sell, considering the cost-benefit of such an effort.
