Hey Guys,
Sorry my PM box was full. I Just cleared out some space in my PM inbox. You can PM me now with your invoice email address for identity confirmation.
MilesD, your inbox is still full.
Did you get my message with my email, the other day?
-
Yes. I’ve tried it on both blue and red USB 3 ports.
-
OK, tried with ASW off and found it unplayable.
Try lowering some graphics settings.
MSAA and shadows are very demanding.
Perhaps you should start out with the VR preset and take it from there.
-
Is this ASW artifacts that you’re seeing?
What is your FPS?
Don’t know if you are familiar with how the Oculus software works, but if the game can’t maintain a full 80 FPS, the ASW feature will force it down to 40 FPS, and then create fake frames to fill up the missing 40 frames, every second. This means that the software will have to extrapolate from the previous two frames, to create the next frame and this will cause some graphical artifacts that may present themselves as judder.
Try turning ASW off by pressing CTRL KeyPad 1.
Here are the associated shortcuts.
CTRL+KP1 - Disable ASW
CTRL+KP2 - Force apps to 45hz, DISABLE ASW
CTRL+KP3 - Force apps to 45hz, ENABLE ASW
CTRL+KP4 - Enable ASW to operate automatically

I just melted the aluminium!
:megalol:
I did too! But then I reached the conclusion that the brazing rods were useless. Once I got proper rods, it was easy. Got to be careful with thin alu material though...
-
I learned how to braze aluminium, for my seat build. It’s not as strong as a weld, but strong enough for something like this. Fun too! Not too hard to learn either. I’d say that if you can learn how to solder, you can learn brazing.

That´s utterly outstanding, congrats.Goblin I somehow missed that first link with the simbox, as above poster said that is outstanding work!
Thanks, Tundra and sk000tch!
I love building things and I think I have spent more time building my sim, than flying it :prop:
No MFDs though eh? Mouse clicking mfd buttons (and UFC cords, etc), and the inability to use a kneeboard scratchpad is among my greatest irritations in VR.Yeah, VR has limitations of it’s own... :)
I have the TM MFD’s, but I haven’t added them to the SimBox. Maybe I should try that..? :shifty:

Here’s my handbrake build.
Not using a bicycle brake handle, but may give you some ideas anyway...

Just get a Koss Porta Pro for cheap money and add
You can just bend those headbands like this.

You could make your own...
Here’s a pic of my old racing car seat, in which I made a center stick cut out, and my new seat.
Here’s the build thread for my VR pit and seat.

Here’s a thread for the conversion of a car seat to flightsim seat,

Like I said, you do what makes you happy
^ This
How hard can it be to understand this simple fact?
People are different.
I loved flightsims back in the 80’s. Sim viewing evolved to PoV hats and that was great! Then padlock views were invented and really boosted situational awereness. The virtual cockpit became a thing and you could scroll around using a mouse, which was awesome. Then Naturalpoint made the TrackIR and it blew me away!
Now I have VR, and it’s the next evolutionary step...for me.
VR isn’t perfect, but it’s better than all earlier view systems, IMO.
If anybody don’t agree and think pre-VR views were better, that’s perfectly ok with me. I sure won’t lose any sleep over it.
To each their own.

Here’s my Eject handle.
The thread covers the first and last version.
I basically set it up to send multiple button activations that then is assigned in DCS like a regular joystick input.

But they don't sell all the panels (yet) though, and they don't show the dimensions of them.
It’s more of a on demand production. The panels are replicas from real panels and can be bought with or without switches.

maybe in 30 years then.
No.
The VR tech. is evolving much faster than your ”explosion”. :megalol:
No thanks to you... :pilotfly:
-
Except the VR technology is not exploding like high res monitors,
Exploding..?
Do you realize how long it took the technology to go from CGA to 4K? Hardly an explosion.
Take a look at the VR development the last few years, since the Oculus DK1 until today.
None of that happened?
Still, my point being that if everybody tried and returned their VR headsets, the VR development would stop. Plain and simple. It’s everybodys personal decision if they want to buy a VR headset or not. Just don’t for a minute think that you are promoting the development of better VR tech. if you’re not contributing...
VR technology is evolving. No thanks to those of you who ”vote with your wallet” and staying out of it.
-
But I voting with my pocket
The thing is...
If you’re voting with your pocket, by not buying into VR because it’s not as good as you hope it will be in 2-3 years, is a double edged sword...
If nobody bought a VR headset, beacause they will get better in a few years, there would be no VR market...
Imagine if everybody didn’t buy CGA, VGA or XGA monitors because they weren’t 4K... Where would we be today..?
VR is still a startup. In a few years we will have VR headsets that will be superior to what we have today.
You can thank all of us who invested in early VR then...

I bought a set of Koss Porta Pro headsets and adjusted them for VR use.
Cut the headband sliders to separate the L and R speakers.
Bend the steel headband into a clamp.
Cover with heatshrink and put some foam on the inside of the speaker body.
The Display/USB cable hook on the left side of the halo must be removed and the cable must be secured with a tie, or something.
Cut the headphone chords and solder them again to avoid having loose cables. Allow for some slack as you want to be able to move the VR display in and out, and the headphones back and forth a little.

Are you using voice recognition software, like Voice Attack? And do you have a voice command to reset the view?

This sounds a lot like a game crash that used to happen with the Rift CV1. There was a temp. fix where you could remove the 3D hangar background... Anybody remember how? I’ll search a bit to see if I can find it. Must be here somewhere. Would be interesting to see if it fixes your problem...
Found it!
Rename the SceneVR.lua file, and see if this fixes your crash.
Found here:
Scripts/demoScenes/SceneVR.lua
As I read some of the old threads about this, it had to do with shaders, not audio. Your problem may not be related at all...

My pedals center just fine. I use both of the stock springs at the high(most tense) setting. With the damper I have I run it one click firmer than the lightest setting...
Good to know!
Gravity helps the pedals towards center as well. It’s a good design!

rolling out behind the boat, I had not problem seeing the ball.
Damn! Can’t blame my 1-wires on low res, anymore. ;)
Windows 7 vs Windows 10 in Oculus VR CV1 & S

This is because ASW doesn’t work on pre Win8.
https://developer.oculus.com/blog/asynchronous-spacewarp/
Tl;dr is that ASW, while making the image smoother if the game can’t maintain 90 FPS, means it creates artifacts that present themselves as double image, tearing and warping.
in Win 10 you can turn ASW off by pressing Ctrl and KeyPad 1.
CTRL+KP1 - Disable ASW and USE ATW
CTRL+KP2 - Force apps to 45hz, DISABLE ASW
CTRL+KP3 - Force apps to 45hz, ENABLE ASW
CTRL+KP4 - Enable ASW to operate automatically
Also, no computer will be able to run DCS at the highest graphical settings at 90 FPS.
