  1. OK. First few flights in DCS on this Haswell seem to fair out pretty good so far. I have the fps capped at 30, and it pretty much stayed there with or without FRAPS recording. Did a fast test in the Huey on the gunnery range, and the only time the fps dropped below 25 was when a tank exploded - and I just happened to be right next to it. Wasnt much of an improvement, as I regularly had 30fps capped with the 2600k, but it didnt stutter as much with FRAPS running. In FSX I saw a HUGE difference, and this tells me that DCS is more GPU driven than I once thought it was..
  2. Thats not really a fair statement, mostly because Black Ops and the MW line are starting to wear themselves out. Take into account of BF3, Crysis 3, and any recently released titles for PC only before announcing a decline in PC gamers. I agree the pc gaming is closely coming to an end, but its still technically a long way off. I suggest waiting for GTA5 to be released before judgement is passed.
  3. I find that funny with a 33% increase in performance in FSX when compared to a 2600k. But we'll see.
  4. On other hand, its still up in the air. Ill see if I need one after overclocking this, but Ive heard this chip doesnt need more than 1v to get to 5ghz. I shall see. If I do, Ill wind up with the ax1050.
  5. Because that means I have to spend another 200 dollars on this thing. Im already thinking about getting a 1050w, but from all the wattage calculations Ive ran, I dont need anything more than what I already have. Im upgrading from a 2600k, not intending to build a brand new computer.
  6. Looks like this weekend Ill be able to quote some new figures. Got the parts, just backing up the hard drives now...only 2 more packages of bluray disks to go. New rig looks like: Haswell 4770k Asus Sabertooth z87 Corsair H100i 16gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 12800 eVGA GTX680 4096 Corsair tx750 psu OCZ Agility 3 SSD 3x WD Black in RAID-0 Anyone who doesnt know yet, old socket cooling fan post hole patterns 2011 and 1155 will fit socket 1150. They are the same 75mm hole spread.
  7. If you want, shoot me a PM and Ill see what I can do for ya.
  8. Or he can ask someone who would be willing to buy it for him and send him a USB thumb drive with the installer files on it. Its not like I have 3-4 disks laying around, Im not going to use the download installer for anything. $9 for LOMAC and a $5 thumb drive cant possibly be considered a major purchase.
  9. Im not dead set on it yet. I have too much stuff on the hard drives to back up to want to tear apart the chassis right now, and I might just buy the stuff and keep them in the box for another 2-3 weeks. Not to mention an awful lot of payware stuff for FSX that needs to be reset, DCS stuff that needs to be deactivated, ghost turds cleaned out of the case....
  10. I would like to know what your experiences with it are so far. I might upgrade today, but Microcenter doesnt open up until 11, and Im not exactly sure if they are doing a huge sale on the LGA1150 processors or the LGA1155 IB-e processors. Edit: I take that back. Microcenter has a great deal on the LGA1150 sockets, selling the 4770k for $269, over 100 bucks off retail.
  11. :) http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_US/pd/productID.180159900/sac.true You're welcome.
  12. Cold weather aids in facilitating lift. Its cold, denser air, not to mention it helps the engine attain higher compression ratios.
  13. No, but Im looking now, and I dont really see anything relevant to fixing that problem for myself. I will take a look in my settings though, see if there are other axises that are assigned to something that shouldnt be assigned to it. Edit: just looked, didnt see anything set incorrectly that would throw the blades immediately. I can have my throttle and collective pulled back to idle at the very beginning of the mission with the controller synced, and still toss blades. Its infuriating to say the least.
  14. I can only replicate this problem in the Ka-50. In the Huey its different; the helicopter will fly at the last speed, heading, attidude and vertical speed until it hits terrain...then it will follow the terrain until the aircraft stick is responsive again, then explode. Kinda like this series of screenshots.
  15. Even further testing revealed that the Huey does NOT have this particular trim glitch the Ka-50 has, nor have I successfully repeated the trim bug I have experienced from time to time. Maybe it was fixed in the previous update unknowingly because I havent experienced it in almost a week now. I will post a track immediately after it happens -if it happens again- next time. Here is the latest track - me testing the trim button with the stick purposefully uncentered immediately after trim. 100% of the time the stick was responsive immediately after my joystick was returned to center. 100% of the time my aircraft was unresponsive until after I returned my stick to center. Not once did I have to hit the trim reset button to regain control, unlike in the Ka-50. Again, nothing about my flying or my settings has changed. Huey Trim Test.trk
  16. After further testing, Ive noticed that it is indeed bugged in the Ka-50 as well. In both of these tracks, I left the stick purposely uncentered every time when I was stable and high enough to play with the aircraft. Almost all of the time (not every time), the stick and rudder are dead frozen until the stick is returned to center. 9 out of 10 times did the stick respond after returning the stick to center. The 1 time out of 10, the stick and rudder did not respond at all, no matter what position the stick and rudder were at when I untrimmed the aircraft. I knew I wasnt crazy. I am still trying to replicate the problem in the Huey, but this one is few and far between. Just to disspell any doubts that my stick is the problem, I have thoroughly tested my stick. TM Warthog - stick was just greased this weekend with EM-30L Molycote as per this thread here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80787&highlight=warthog+grease Stick tested in Windows 7 using Joystick Calibration (everything centered) Stick to Center box tick-marked in DCS No futher mods Ka-50 Trim test 1.trk Ka-50 Trim test 2.trk
  17. This is the bug you were referring to in the -50. The bug Im referring to is in the Huey. Ive stated more than once that the bug is 100% completely different than the bug I have shown here, and I will post that track when it happens again. Even then, I have tested this a few times - you can move the controls with the trim button depressed and/or off center, and these controls are frozen completely.
  18. Anyone having an issue with the ribbon cable binding up, you can unscrew and pull on the female connector pin that connects the stick and the ball to facilitate tautening the ribbon cable. You can insert the ball and set the pins in, and reinsert the outer hull, then push the ribbon cable through to keep it from binding up on anything internal. Didnt see anyone mention that in this thread, so I thought I would.
  19. Not hearing much from anyone telling me its a centering issue now, so either A) Im stupid and its pointless to keep at it, or B) it actually is a bug. Be nice to know which...
  20. And here is a track file that shows you that I know how to use the trim properly AND fly properly. Huey target range.trk
  21. Ok here is one for the Ka-50. Im mainly concerned for the Huey since its more severe than this, as I cant recover from it. In the -50 I can. This is just a me-screwin'-around-to prove someone wrong track so dont judge the flying. Towards the end of the flight, Ive centered the stick and rudder, and then pushing both pedals in and out repeatedly for 1 whole minute, as well as giving 100% play on the cyclic in a full 360. Nothing for one whole minute (or whatever). When it happens in the Huey, I will post another track, and it is totally different from this bug in the Ka-50, which is what Ive been trying to explain to everyone for the last 3 pages. Again, one last time, in the Huey, the only tick box I have ticked is the centered stick box, and the rudder is unlinked in the H-1. Ka-50 trim bug track.trk
  22. I dont know why I have to keep repeating myself. Ive been flying Black Shark since it first came out. In russian. 5 years ago. Im pretty sure I know how to use the trim function by now. When it happens again -and it will- I will post a track file. I know "full well" what you are talking about. This bug I am referring to IS NOT A CENTERING ISSUE.
  23. Thinking now of one of these... http://www.amazon.com/MIMO-UM-710S-Powered-Swivel-Display/dp/B002RMPASG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369438873&sr=8-1&keywords=Nanovision+MiMo
  24. A Samsung LED 27" monitor on HDMI. Ive been thinking of getting a second monitor, but really hard up for space on this desktop.
  25. Goddamnit. Does anyone actually read? One last time. My joystick is centered. The trim button was previously clicked. I KNOW THE AIRCRAFT STICK WILL NOT WORK UNTIL IT IS CENTERED. Ive known this for quite a while now. The aircraft freezes. DOES NOT WORK. When I am unlucky enough to get the bug again, Ill post a track. Thanks.
