Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
mr.john_doe replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
So you say that the people who bought your modules on steam are getting extra charged for the two campaigns and the nevada dlc because of reasons? This would be a large disadvantage for all the steam users. Since the buyer have to decide to use either the steam or the non-steam version of your modules (which was for the last modules) this is a big drawback for the people who bought all of your modules on steam. So you say to them that, in spite of that they have bought all your modules for the same price as on your shop they now have to extra for the nevada map and the campaigns because they can't either use the dcs world 2.0 with lesser modules from your site (so they can't use software they have paid for) or using the older version with extra costs and all of their modules? I think so I'l pass the nevada dlc and all further ... -
Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
mr.john_doe replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
Nevada Test Range on Steam Hello, I have switched to DCS World on Steam before about two years and have purchased all modules after that for Steam. For some modules there where different versions of the modules for Steam and non Steam so that I can't use all of my modules with the non-Steam version. So where and how should I buy Nevada? Will I get a steam key when I purchase the map here? Regards -
Hello, I have failed again (but this time I made a lot of - more then else - mistakes in flying). But this time I have a tacview-file and I have recorded the flight with my screencapturing. So I will upload the video for fun on youtube and have attached my tacview. http://1drv.ms/1P5lXEz I had a hard problem to fly by the target. I oversteered or was to fast fly close to the target plane and passed it serveral times before the script fires. The tacview is attached. There is a short waittime at the beginning since I have searched some things on the internet before start. Greetings

Hello, next try next fail. I flew at about 95% throttle to Nav2, engaged the plane turned and at this time the call to the plane started. After some calls I get the permission to do whatever I have to do. But some seconds after this call before I can fire my weapon I get the info that the plane has left our airspace. I sent to rockets at this plane and get the next failure message as I have fired without permission. Next try tomorrow. Unfortunatly it seems that my tacview doesn't record the flightdata. So I couldn't show you what I have done ...

Thank you for the extended tipps. I have done the navigation as you descriped. I have found the dash (and had accidently activated the captioning of targets which was red in this case. I think my fault was to approach Nav2 at 20000 and began constantly climbing to 35000 after finding the target. This means that I had a airspeed from about 150 and loosing the plane. I will try again today and post my result ...

Hello, I tried A fox in the henhouse but I'm not getting what to do. I flew in the direction the command has given me (which is another then my nav point. I activated the radar and found the square. I saw that this was the right machine and came close to 1NM but nothing happened. I shot the target and was called back to HQ with a failure. I did nothing and the plane got away - failure. What did I wrong?

Raspberry Pi as controller for panel?
mr.john_doe replied to mr.john_doe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello, do you used that for X-PLane? I had red about such a solution there. I would like to see a web based solution as this would be useable on any kind of devices such as Android, Apple and Windows Pads an phones ... -
Hello, I have windows 8.1 tablet here and I want to know is there a software with which I can build some kind of panel to use with DCS and X-Plane. I know Helios could be a solution (as I know) but it only works with A10 and KA50. So is there a way to use such kind of technology for more then those two. So long I will test HELIOS. Is there a way to switch panels in flight? So I build P.E. a panel for communications and one for general flight? Regards

Raspberry Pi as controller for panel?
mr.john_doe posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello, has someone experience in using a RaspPi as a controller for a pannel? I think to build a a box which sends inputs (buttons, triggers and dials) from the RaspPi to DCS (maybe compatible with all sims). Can someone help me figuring out if this is possible? -
Hello, I want to configure my X52 for A10 and F15. I had a lot of issues to get all the eight-ways (DMS, TMS, Slew, SOI) and so on on the HOTAS. Can you give me some good advices for configuring them? At best I only want to use the DCS-own configuration without the X52-Profiler. Thanks for your tipps.

Windows 8.1 Tablet as input device
mr.john_doe replied to mr.john_doe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello, that would be one thing. I own the android version but bought a Windows Tablet now. I thought I had red that you can use more than one pc with helios. So I thought I launch helios on my Win Tablet and bring the mfds and some switches to this and use the app at my android pad for the rest of the controls or vice versa ... -
Hello, is it possible to use my windows 8.1 tablet (not RT) as a inut device for things like mfd's or costum panels? Regards

Thanks. I did knew the range number. How can I be sure what kind of target I lock? On the radar I only see a square but how do I know this is a mig or a awacs? So is there some kind of pattern when I don't know that there are enemies in the air? To get sure that they didn't came over my flank?

Hello, for my A10 I had made a simple panel with some buttons, twoway- and threewayswitches. I now begin fly the F15C and wanted to use the same panel for it but didn't know which functions I should map on this. The layout of the switches are fix. I wanted to print out the new layout and lay them over the orginal one. So I can change them. The controller can send a keyboard shortcut when a position is activated or deactivated. Can you give me some advices which buttons I should map? Maybe for the KA50, too. Regards F15C.pdf

Hello, what would you recommend. The X55 or the Warthog? It seems that the button- and switch count is almost similiar. When I want to buy one of them what would you recommend. Are the warthog worth the additional costs? Regards

Hello, I have red and executed this tutorial: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=329617142 I think it is a good tutorial for beginning as you can see results very quick. But I had one problem. The mission gives you the targets on waypoint 1 so you know that they are there. So you turn your aircraft to this. Move the radar zwo times up and there are two nice tankers. But I have two problems here: 1. Without that knowledge of waypoint 1 I hadn't a glue where and how I should scan for targets 2. As the enemies in this missions are marked with red signs I know that there where several helicopters and SU25 in the air. But I didn't see them on the radar when heading directly to them. So my question is is there a guide or tipps in finding targets? My goal is to take on a random mission (without SAM and AAA) and survive. But till this there seems a lot to learn ...

Centerplate or Chairmount for HOTAS?
mr.john_doe replied to mr.john_doe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks alot. Thats a hell of a blueprint ;-) I thought about such but yesterday evening I had held my joystick to the position where it would be in front of my desk and realised that with a centerplate I hade to move a good step away from my desk which means I have to move away from my screen to when I want to move my stick forward. So maybe I will use a solution which puts the stick on the right hand. Its not realistic but maybe more confortable. Later, if I want, I can put a panel on this position when I put my stick in the center. But I will do a construction as you suggest for mounting my pad (which shows the mfd) or maybe a litte screen with to replicas of the mfds (but don't know how it will work out :-( ) -
Centerplate or Chairmount for HOTAS?
mr.john_doe replied to mr.john_doe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks alot. I havn't access to "heavy" tools as I live in a flat without really workspace so everything with metal isn't possible here. I couldn't find any good guides to extend the x52 standard but getting warmer with this pit: http://www.rogerdodger.net/diyflightsims/floor_unit.html The stick isn't in the center but so I can add a rail for other tools like my pad or mfds. But the next question is where I put this when I am not flying ... Some attachements to the chair s would be smaller ... -
Hello, I have a IKEA-Chair and a desk where my computer is on. For working on my PC its ok but when I put my X52 on the desk to fly some rounds it hurts very fast because the stick is to high to fly comfortable. So I search some kind of mount which I can put under my seat to bring my HOTAS (and maybe some panels or tablet) in a good position. I googled a little bit and found a lot of full chair sets which are nice but way to expensive for my current budget. Also I dont have the space for such a big furniture in my living room ... So do you have any tipps which I can use for that? This is what I had found so far: http://www.playseat.com/shop/eu/de/special-promotion.html http://wheelstandpro.com/ (to close together?) Maybe this? http://www.rogerdodger.net/diyflightsims/floor_unit.html Has anyone such a construction? Thanks alot

Arduino2DCS - Arduino Bridge Software
mr.john_doe replied to Boltz's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Great, I have searched them for a long while. The itemnumbers are correct but have a dash in it: SW413-ND SW454-ND SW452-ND I will buy them. Where do you have arranged them? I think I will try a simple copper board with holes in it (in german Lochstreifenplatine - I don't know the english version ...) Greetings -
