TM HOTAS Warthog Pinky Switch Problem
MatzWarhog replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Checked and saw that, and updated the firmware. Still the center position doesn't turn off the position lights. I could have swore that it did, but as easily as I forget things... I wouldn't bet a dime on it! LOL Thanks USMC_Trev! Matz -
TM HOTAS Warthog Pinky Switch Problem
MatzWarhog replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I believe this was a brain issue rather than a Sim issue. After flying some, I recall having to use the Light Panel switch when 10 miles out to kill the lights. Maybe just a few extra numb brain cells tonight. If anyone thinks of anything I may be missing, just let me know! Thanks Echo! Matz -
TM HOTAS Warthog Pinky Switch Problem
MatzWarhog replied to MatzWarhog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Interesting... that's the first I've read that. When it was set up before, center was OFF, aft and forward activated the cockpit switches appropriately. Matz -
Sorry guys... I searched and read just about everything I can, and can't find a solution to my problem. After a taking a break from the A-10C, I set everything back up, am back to flying and retraining the brain all the weapons systems (which I'm learning much more the 2nd time around), but I'm stuck with a likely simple problem. I can use LCtrl+P to turn my position lights on, then the pinky switch works on the Light Panel just like before, but only in the forward and aft positions. Before, setting the pinky switch in the center position turned OFF my position lights, and when switched forward or aft, it would activate them correctly along with the Light Panel, switching back to "center" pinky switch would turn them OFF. Now, it's as if the center position is dead... does nothing. Anyone care to re-align my brain on this one?? :helpsmilie:

Thanks!! And "Exactly" on your reply! You don't really forget the gist of everything, it's just making things do what you want them to do again! Just technicalities. :) That's when I think... "Wow... I remember that! I wonder what I can do to make it do this, like i saw in that cool video! I didn't learn that the first time! :joystick:

Glad this thread popped up! I've been on a sabbatical of sorts, and when "relearning", I've discovered you learn so much more than the first time you jumped in. Probably because you are familiar with everything, and taking everything a step deeper while reacquainting yourself with the A-10C, just seems like the natural thing to do. Cheers all!! Thanx for the solid info!

Possible Aircraft shake when GAU-8 is Fired ?
MatzWarhog replied to [VAF] Shocker's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I say watch 3:10 through 3:35. I doubt he has any reason to lie, and the video pretty much speaks for itself. Matz -
Glad this was revived! I was "Center Mass" spraying T72's without the desired results. Even though I was mostly rolling in from behind... looks like I need to steepen the dive angle a bit!! We'll see how it turns out!! Matt

I've only fired up a brief test, but noticed right from the start that I got a FPS bump with all the settings maxed out... I'll take that anytime they want to go the extra mile to give it to us! The update made me think about how the another game producer (Russian as well) has done with ROF... add new models, clean up bugs, keep pushing forward. That sets a company aside from 90% of the others now days. DCS is definitely on the right track, and the A-10C is without question the best Sim you can get your hands on, and even it keeps improving. Many other game producers should be taking notes on the way the Russian companies are handling their business... because they are smoking their competition! JMO. Matz

Outstanding!!! Glad you're back up and running! Matz

When I had my MFCDs on a separate monitor, they were still present in the cockpit as well. What ever method you used clearly changed the monitor .lua. You need the original, unchanged .lua... My suggestion would be to DL and reinstall the most recent A-10C module. Then you will know the .lua is correct and original. Matt

Just set the dial, then make the function change in the UFC then your HUD will display the changes and allow you to cycle them via DMS up/down if the HUD is SOI. If the HUD is not SOI, the DMS will not cycle them.
-
In order to see the Markpoint designator on the lower right HUD, you need to select "Mark" on the dial below the CDU, Not Flight Plan or Mission, but Mark. Then on the UFC, press "func" then "8", which has "MARK" printed below it. Your TAD will no longer display "Waypoints", but rather "Markpoints" which unless they are widely separated, you'll only see one point with a wedding cake on the selected Mark Point. Matz
-
Be sure you are in the correct mode to view and change Markpoints that you create. Set the dial below the CDU from Flight Plan or Mission, to the "center" position... "Mark". Then on the UFC, press "Func">"8" (Mark). If the HUD is SOI, they can then be cycled with the DMS (up/Down), once designated as a Markpoint with the TMS short right command, they will act just like a just like a waypoint. If the HUD is not SOI, use the rocker switch on the far left side of the UFC to cycle them. As soon as I approach a target area, if I don't quickly find a target, I set a point on the ground in the area as SPI, change over to "Mark" and that point becomes Markpoint "A" as a reference. This simplifies returning your TGP to the general area to continue searching, simply by returning to "A" with a Chinahat Long Forward. To do so, use the UFC rocker switch or if the HUD is SOI, use the DMS and select Markpoint "A" (BTW, you will see a Mark "Z" that indicates the end of the cycle before the next is "A" again. It will show in the lower right of the HUD as well as on the CDU... then set the TGP as SOI, Chinahat Forward Long, and your TGP and MAV will both slave to that point. HTH. I am a HUGE fan of using Markpoints to designate and cycle targets. Matz PS... one word of caution... be sure and confirm the markpoint either on the HUD or CDC, or you can easily bomb an already dead target. Check the Markpoint, select the one you want, and set it as SOI in the desired sensor with CH Long Fwd.

Many Thanks Ghost!!!! Matz

You could just scan yours, to make a copy. But, I'll take whatever ya got. If you need help putting one together, let me know! Matz

Thanks Quirk! If you find it and can't find a link to it, I'll msg you my email, and if you could possibly send it to me? I think it should be added to the wiki. Matz

From the above thread: "There are two unitPayloads.lua files, one that is STATIC located in your DCS installation folder (..\dcs a-10c warthog\MissionEditor\data\scripts), and one that is DYNAMIC - meaning it changes - in your windows application files according to your user (C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\MissionEditor)." Great pointer cichlidfan. TWO separate places with different .luas. Matz

I'm sure I've seem something somewhere, but I've searched and can't find it. Anyone know where there is a printable copy of the "Encyclopedia" from in the game. The one that ID's all Ground Targets, AAA's etc?? Or even just a PDF of the collection, that I could toss on my tablet. Matz
-
When you set the HUD as SOI, and then use the China Hat Long Fwd, it 'will' slave the SLI to all sensors. If the TAD is zoomed into too closely to show the mark/waypoint "point to SPI" line, it will zoom out only as far as needed for it to be on the MFCD. It Shows the line on the TAD to give you reference of your current position to the mark point/way point. That's been my finding anyway. Matz

True... you can lase a spot on the ground between two buildings on the ground, set a mark point, use it as your SPI, and light up both buildings with a CBU-97 using that point on the ground in CCRP mode. From everything I've found, you should be able to lock on to a tree if you want. I need to study up on Force Correlate, and I'd love to put a MAV through the door of a bunker. Matz
-
I was going to ask, why can't I get a MAV to lock on a barracks or bunker?? It should... should it not?? Matz

Excellent!! Worked out well then!!

I bought a pair of TM Cougar MFD's new and cheap over a month ago at Mircocenter, $54! I Love them! Love them so much I wanted them on my actual second screen with the actual displays in them! So I went through hours of learning how, and help, and finally got my MFD's mounted with the actual screens fit just PERFECT in them! Looked absolutely killer!! Hated them. With my second monitor (with the MFD's mounted) on the right, they're on the same side as my mouse and stick. Plus, turning to look and taking my eyes away from my target, letting go of the stick, or grabbing the mouse etc., to push a button... I may as well just had used the mouse and watched the screen. Looked great, hated it. So now I have their bases attached to the monitor riser with velcro, so they are in the accurate spots where they would be on the dash, and just below my main monitor. Now I can easily hold the stick and use my throttle hand on the MFD's rather than looking to the side or using the mouse. Love them again!! Having to take my eyes off target, or not be able to use my free hand, wasn't going to work in a tight spot... things moving too fast for that. Just goes to show... what looks the coolest, isn't always the most functional. I still have grander ideas, but this is gonna work 'til then!! Matz
