Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

So why they put ejection seats in combat airplanes then? To save those precious people to fight another day! ;) http://www.trivia-library.com/b/origins-of-sayings-live-to-fight-another-day.htm -

OK, we are guessing here (nothing wrong with educated guessing in my mind), but what would you do in above mentioned battle (4x4) after taking serious damage? I bet you would eject in RL ASAP! -

As stated above, I've learned how to do it GGTharos - the unrealistic behavior of the hit pilot afterwards is the problem. In busy battle (say 4x4) there is big chance that someone will get hit by stray AMRAAM launched by our hypothetical "Hero". Simple, really -

I already employ most of your suggestions lunaticfringe, and many you don't mention (wouldn't hit anything otherwise ;)) but again: You can't hide the fact that people are unrealistically exploiting the possibility to fire multiple AMRAAM's in situations when they counterparts in RL would simply stop fighting, running for cover and safety of nearest friendly airport. Yes, I've learned how to counteract possible "heroism", but I'm more than convinced that I'm simply doing much more than needed in RL ... Random possibility to fire missiles after damage taken is all it takes - as stated in previous posts. -

Could you please explain how to fight enemy, starting in BVR, not entering his WEZ when transiting to WVR? Oh, btw, your only available BVR weapon is SARH missile so no braking away untill missile impact ... -

You obviously don't want to acknowledge the problem and you're channelling discussion on personal front. I will not take part in that, thanks! :) -

Classic Ignoratio Elenchi or fallacy of irrelevant conclusion my friend :) Anyway, there would be no combat in DCS (or any multiplayer) if all red birds just run away. I can understand that some of the F15 guys would like that, though ...:megalol: -

Transition from BVR to WVR? ;) Not that much time to avoid WEZ of your enemy, especially if both of you just fired your BVR arsenal and your carefully guided SARH missile (thanks God!) hit; suddenly you realize that you're in WEZ of Uber Brave Armchair Hero who is ready to "die" in gruesome death (basically fried alive) only to make it even with you in virtual world  Guess what? If he fires AMRAAM (from his 8x load) he will hit you ... Happens frequently ... -

Player (pilot) in DCS knows that he will not die - that is why he automatically choose to fire the missiles in case of battle damage ignoring piloting the plane ;) I don't dispute honor and bravery of airmen around the world (I have local stories as well, but that is huge OT ) -

Sorry if it came across that I was disingenuous. I didn't mean to. I don't require that people die; they could fight with plane damaged, HOWEVER this is in direct collision with priorities thought to pilots during training in every single Air force in the world. I quoted real, declassified F 16 flight manual where it is clearly stated that first priority is to FLY THE PLANE. Hence digression to Medals and bravery. In the circumstances involving actual battle damage, it is highly unlikely (for majority of pilots) that they will continue engaging the enemy. As your RL pilot contact stated, some will do, but I think that you are very well aware that we are talking HUGE minority here. Am I guestimating? Sure I am - but then your Pilot is also ;). You've just mentioned that there are no valid examples since WWII;) We just need to think about it and it is obvious that online pilots in DCS are not behaving according to the RL and they are actually abusing the system. Cheers -

It shouldn't be overly difficult Cali - how many died during combat (not ejecting, basically modern day Kamikaze :)) with confirmed missile launching at enemies while in damaged plane. There are wingman and there are AWACS around to confirm this. Basically, you can count how many (posthumous) medals are awarded in recent conflicts, and then read about circumstances looking for bravery including not ejecting/fighting in hit airplanes. And then you find percentage against sorties flown /planes hit ... Maybe you could never find exact percentage, but to sound, rational and inquiring mind it's obvious that this percentage is extremely small ... -

There is that huge psychological moment of knowing that your airplane is severely damaged (you shit your pants, plainly speaking :) ) and if you follow training procedures, you stop fighting: I'm not saying that there are no heroic actions (especially during defensive wars ), but even than those acts are counted in per mils. Otherwise they couldn't make enough Medals of Honor, Purple Harts, Order of Lenins or whatever the highest bravery medal in your country is. ;) -

Voted random. But I would like to see weighted random, weighting beeing in close correlation with actual statistics from RL - what percentage of RL pilots sacrificed they life not ejecting and firing at the opponent. -

Well, I thik it's obvious what my point is (if it didn't come across coherently, I'll rephrase it) -

I don't doubt that, but then how many of your faithful customers are pilots? And how many would be prepared to act as a trained professional pilot in circumstances requiring ultimate sacrifice like ignoring direct missile hit, staying in cockpit firing missiles at opponent? We cannot electrocute players dead (unfortunately ) for deciding to sacrifice they virtual life and not ejecting - so there has to be some sort of mechanism to prevent "virtual sacrifice". -

+1 It seems that authorities around this board forget something. This is a GAME (flame suit on :)), you don't die, loose your arm/leg/whatever as a consequence of choices made during "simulation". How many armchair pilots would continue fighting if they knew that they will going to loose life/leg if they do so? So please, references to RL have to end somewhere. :music_whistling: -

This If you designate without laser (especially at low angles to the target), and tnen slave JDAM to marked point, impact will be off by several meters (depending on the slant range) ... IIRC there is nice tutorial on youtube about that ... EDIT: There you go (1:43, you have illustration and great explanation of what is going on if you don't lase at low angles )
-
Sorry if you're already doing this, but I have to ask, Are you lasing the target prior to JDAM launch? If you are launching (marking) from a shallow angle, you need to lase to get a dead accurate distance to the target (as soon as you get lased distance and mark your spot, you can switch the laser off). TGP sees the ground behind the target, not a target per se, so it calculates distance to the point on the ground if you're not lasing - hence the near misses.

Same here (+GTR2) ...

DCS is in urgent need of software optimizing. It's really shame that multicore processors are not fully supported in application with such a huge CPU demand. SLI & Crossfire support would be nice as well but CPU support is top priority. ED, are you reading this?

Yeah, fee would be reasonable for high quality dedicated server. No need for graphic UI or anything fancy - just a command line robust server. And Linux build as an option to Win would be perfect ...
