SLI/ Crossfire Definitive answer
danilop replied to Congo_Toey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It seems that 670 is right there with big Nvidia boys when SLId: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_670_2_and_3way_sli_review,1.html Basically it is the same like 680 in SLI configuration with less noise and heat ... DX9 performance: DX10: DX11: -
I've been really, really satisfied with their wheels - currently G25 which is almost perfect for my needs; still have Momo and Driving Force Pro wheels which I don't use anymore. I feel that with G940 they've just probed the hard core HOTAS market. If they found that there is a place for them, they'll come back with superior product. Do not underestimate their R&D department and experience on the gaming controller market ... Now, I don't want to talk about horrible customer support department ...

SLI/ Crossfire Definitive answer
danilop replied to Congo_Toey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah, it would be great - if not we have to wait for bigger touch screen monitors and run them in 3-way SLI without accessory display (good thing is that Windows 8 will speed up touch screen production) Thanx! -

Tripple monitors + Helios as a Accessory display. Will it work in full screen in above configuration? -

That is great news. What kind of performance gain you get over single GTX590? I'm in the process of getting a new dedicated flight sim machine and already decided to go with single HD 7970. However, if SLI actually works, I would rather go with single GTX670 with prospect of dual (maybe triple) SLI in the future. -

It looks that ED is sole distributor of DCS modules at the moment! Steam version of A-10c is stand alone, isn't it? The point was not in the pricing policy (they can split it in two modules and simultaneously release the both hypothetical fighters for €39.99, BTW). The point was that releasing one fighter without the other (no matter which one comes first) is dangerous for multiplayer community. So you get F15 (or SU27) and after a while you will certainly get bored of shooting SU25Ts(A10cs) online. You really need the other human controlled fighter of the same capabilities and quality. FC3 is just a temporary fix, not a solution to project DCS:Fighter - sorry, SFM and simple avionics are not enough anymore - you spoiled us!!! We are talking about the future of the DCS here. ;) Don't make the same mistakes like the other producers of study sim's so far (Falcon 4.0, Jane's F18 ...) You need high quality Russian birds (AFM, real avionics, clickable 6DoF) if you want quality online experience in DCS! Don't forget that! -

Well, as I understand FC3 is the last ED product in LOMAC franchise including multiple aircraft. Next project is US fighter. That's fine. I would like to see some variant (not picky at all) of SU-27 modeled to same standard afterwards. Even better (especially for the online community), start developing SU-27 NOW and release both planes simultaneously or as the package! And after that, multirole package like F16/MiG29. Leave the carrier operations aircraft to 3rd party (give them maximum assistance) If it means double the price and double the wait, so be it! No one said that we have to get all AFM 6dof planes at once - it is obviously impossible within reasonable time frame. -
There is not that much blast damage from Mk82 (the same warhead as in GBU-12) - you can expect that your average military truck will survive if bomb hit beyond 10-15m radius - so it is simulated well in DCS. For infantry that's about 50-75m (and that's optimistic).

I don't understand why threads got merged, either. One thread was about airplane wish list, and the other was questioning ED's approach toward development of Russian jets in general. But hey, who am I to question ED's forum policy. :) On the other hand, I think that we will have to accept the possibility of uneasy legal position in which ED could find themselves if they try to disclose sensitive information. So I don't think that we will ever get anything beyond 4th generation if we talk Russian planes. However, and this is big ... I don't want to see ED derogating Russian jets to BFM and simple avionics. So, give us basic russian 4th generation SU27/MiG29/SU25T with all the bells and whistles in graphics, flight model and avionics department which US jets (A-10c in particular) already enjoy. Offset that with AFM, 6dof basic 4th generation F15/F16/A10c package and we are set! Simple as that. -

Is it possible to get this warning in vBulletin board? It is great feature in SMF, because you have chance to review new replies posted during typing.

According to ED's market research, Americans are the best customers at the moment, and it's obvious what is the priority for them, if that's true. All the other airplanes are given second class treatment. So basically (and unfortunately) money talks ... :( +1 There is a hope in 3rd party development. -
Missile Dynamics - A discussion
danilop replied to Teknetinium's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well, majority of people don't want reality and challenge online, they want chance to win with no effort at all, plain and simple. Basic human behavior really ... There is a potential problem here (yes, even in HC simulation) - developers MUST listen to them, or they will go bankrupt ... -
Mine used to love video games too, some fifteen years ago when we got married ... :cheer3nc: Nowadays it's all about money, honey :lol::lol:

Global politics and global military affairs are deeply interleaved. At the end, talking about cutting edge military hardware (on both sides) always end in a hot political debate. Nothing wrong with that I guess. :) -

I understood it from beginning, please read carefully what I have written - the problem is that you don't want any changes to the system we have now in the sim, claiming that it's realistic as is. I argue that only sensible thing to do (to approximate "it depends" on which we generally agree :)) is RANDOMNESS in launching possibility of damaged airplane. -

Now we are on the same page lunaticfringe! You think about procedures and priorities! You don't continue to blindly fight like good portion of virtual pilots do! Of course, you'll kill opponent if there is a slight chance and your priorities are not jeopardised ! That kind of thinking unfortunately does not exist online, because there are no real world consequences for doing irrational things and ignoring priorities - you get hit, you continue fighting no matter what. You can, because in the end you don't die (sorry for "dying" again, but it is ultimate consequence for taking bad decisions in RL sadly missing from sim ) So that's a reason why we should implement some kind of weighted random system controlling missile launch after taking damage. -
I was trained and served on 2x30mm weapon ( AA M53/59 - 30x210 round) back in my military days - it was practically useles as AAA (optical sighting sistem was crap), but you honestly don't want to know what that round does to soft and lightly armed ground targets :) Uber effective! Now, the rate of fire of GAU-8 is 10 times greater, so ... :helpsmilie:

Getting hit multiple times because you chose not to eject from crippled airplane and stay in fight? In that case, yes - very probable death! -

Even if every second more in the cockpit of the crippled plane means certain death if you get trashed by another missile? Your call!
