  1. No matter if I set the Rocket Delay Switch to "DELAY" or "INST", my rockets always explode when they hit the ground instantly. After playing around with this and finding no reason why one would delay the Rockets on impact, I thought maybe the manual is wrong and it´s actually setting a delayed fuszing for the Bombs. So I tried it with the bombs, but I have a instant detonation for these too. Since the function is described in the manual and it is not flagged as "INOP" (like it is with some functions in the A-10C manual) I was tempted to file this in the Bugs section, and so I do it now :)
  2. If I hadn´t subscribed to this Thread anyway, I would have now. It would be great to hear what they say. Of course a Sim never "feels" like reality (no matter how well it is coded), but I´m sure these guys also know what numbers are and how stuff should work, what the plane is capable of etc... would be really, really interesting. I´m looking forward to it if you can make it
  3. Well said, I second that. Exactly what I thought after writing my last post. If people would always think (like I´m always tempted to do): "Naaah, I should not post this improvement suggestion, because there are other things which are more important", then we would miss the "little" things which make this a great simulator in the future. The bigger the pool of Ideas which make sense is, I think the more likely we will see some of them in future releases :)
  4. I had the same problem and thanks to the Forums got it sorted in the .LUA files. If you are not finished with your profile yet, I have uploaded mine yesterday. Feel free to improve / adjust it to your needs :)
  5. Haha, that´s a great one :D I´m sure I pulled a lot more once coming out of a dive, my pilot even nearly blacked out. But maybe I had just the gun left and nothing else under my wings. It´s good to see that obviously not only the Gs, but also the weight itself plays a big role on aircraft integrity
  6. After reading more from the OP, I begin to understand his intentions and it makes sense to me. But I´m not voting, because on one had I am tempted to vote yes and on the other hand I´m not sure if integrating a 3rd party product is the way to go. I remember that some games in the past had their own Audio integration and with all the Avionics and Radios you have in the planes, it could make sense to have a Peer to Peer Audio functionality integrated right "in the planes". But then I am thinking about how much stuff there is in the pipeline and I don´t see that it could have high priority since we have (albeit it´s 3rd party) voice capabilities right now and I´d rather see improvements on the DCS World code and existing + future planes than a voice integration. But just in case they run out of Ideas, I would support it if it´s well done of course. So I step out of the voting because it could be a neat Idea (and I´m sure I would like it) when it´s done properly, but I don´t really see the need for it.
  7. Wow, thanks for sharing this. I love it that they left out the commentary. Downloading right now
  8. What is with the TS Overlays which exist already? They work quite fine for me?
  9. Yes, I laughed hard at that. Looke pretty similar to my 1st take-off experience :D After it crashed, I waited for a while and expected that the narrator now tells me something like: "OK, I now showed you how it´s not done. Let´s get back into another P-51 and now I show you how it is properly done". But nothing like that happened. Would have been just hilarious :megalol:
  10. Oh, I did not want to let my post sound like it´s an abandoned plane! It´s good to hear that maybe when time is found some things might get even better. One thing which I really want to mention which blew me away is the sound of the air (turbulence) made when you slip the plane or when you maneuver hard. Then it really starts to whistle. I watched a Track of my Ground attacks and it´s amazing how it sounds when you dive down to the target, pull back and then it whistles and roares back into the sky (when that ZSU did not hit you). Imagine someone with CA sitting on the ground hearing that, might get some goose bumps :) @SiThSpAwN: Haha, great to hear that :-) Looking forward to when that Merlin engine is burning more oil than fuel when you really messed up some time in the future. I think it´s time for me to stop the off topic here and start finding all the surprises of the Mustang Yo-Yo mentioned. I´m sure I will not be disappointed. :pilotfly:
  11. Thank you very much Yo-Yo for your response (it was a small eye opener for me, so a bit of text will follow here). I appreciate that very much. Maybe my comparison to the A2A Aircraft was not fair, since they do not have to care for a lot of other things which are important to an Aircraft released for DCS World (everything combat related). I´m pretty new to DCS and for each Aircraft I used the first time (A-10C, later the KA-50 and now the P-51D) my approach to learn how it works is a step by step process. I learn the startup, takeoff and landings, navigation, emergency situations and then learn the (combat) systems. So the first days for me in a new DCS Aircraft are like flying a civilian Aircraft and when you focus on that (before you start to do what DCS World is built for), it´s tempting to compare the Aircraft with things you know (like FSX Aircraft) already. This is where I entered this discussion with my remarks on the Engine Management and the behaviour for example in cold starts. And the P-51D is the only Aircraft where I felt it lacks behind something I know already (I have the Iris A-10A, but the DCS one is far superiour to that one and I have a few FSX Helos, but nothing which comes close to the KA-50 in terms of systems modelling and I do not include the Combat systems in my comparisons!). Today I did my first Bombing runs, used the Rockets and attacked ground targets today the first time in the P-51D and I had a blast. You then quickly forget things which might be better modeled in the A2A Aircraft and the P-51D in DCS is a blast to fly when used for combat. I´m sure I will have many hours of fun with it. Still, there might be things which could be improved (as with everything in live, it never stops) but for what it is built for it´s doing it fantastic and I enjoy it very much :pilotfly: Just in case there´s some time in the future to improve something existing (I know there isn´t, looking at the production lineup which was announced), don´t forget the P-51D and it´s engine. Other Piston Aircraft released in the future might benefit from that (or the P-51D from piston engine aircrafts released in the future, who knows)?

    P-51 Sideslip

Ehrlich gesagt ist mir das beim lesen des Handbuchs gar nicht aufgefallen. Ich kann auch slippen wie bloed. Das geht wunderbar und hoert sich nebenbei auch noch richtig cool an :D
  13. I did not try it, since i don´t have that much. But the Cougar MFD manual states, that up to 8 MFDs can be connected to a PC and are identified as separate "Controllers". I don´t know if there´s a limit of how many Controllers DCS an use, but the MFDs are just USB devices with Buttons or Game Controllers with lots of Buttons, but no Axis. So I don´t see why it should not work if you connect more than 2 MFDs and use them with any game which supports multiple game controllers.
  14. Do both of you mean launching the Program itself or the Installer?
  15. I must admit that I never started up a Merlin engine on my own. And maybe A2A are doing it wrong, who knows. I just created a "Mission" with -10°C today and the Mustang started just like it does with 30°C outside Temperature. And after startup it just runs smooth rightaway. Yes, Oil Pressure is higher than with 30° outside temperature, which is well modelled. But for me it´s all just to easy and too smooth. I know I might get beat to death when saying something bad about a DCS plane here, but given the normal retail price it costs and comparing it to how much work they had to put in the Systems of the KA-50 and A-10, I find it a bit strange that not the same amount of energy has been put into the engine modelling which, to me, seems to be the heart of the P-51D Simulation. Again, this is all IMHO and I could be wrong. I just hoped that the engine of the Mustang will be a bit of a challenge to handle, since apart from that it´s a pretty simple plane (because of the Era I mean, they did not have TGPs and Computers back then of course :D ).
  16. Am I the only one that thinks that the P-51 is too easy to start up? Compared to the A2A P-51D or the A2A Spitfire in FSX, you can hardly do anything wrong with the Startup of the P-51 in DCS World and you really have to do a lot of things wrong to kill the engine. In the A2A Spitfire you can have a very hard time getting the engine up and running in cold conditions and you really really have to take care of the Temperatures and the runup phase. You also can clearly hear how the engine behaves, especially when it´s cold, when it´s missfiring or when it´s going to die slowly (low compression on single cylinders). Also when starting it cold and cranking up the throttle you can clearly see that it´s burning oil like hell. Nothing of that is what I have in the DCS Mustang. I fire it up, taxi to the runway and take off to have a nice flight without any fear that something dies (at least not when you´re not a "set everything to 100%" kind of guy). What´s very good modelled is the noise when slipping the Aircraft, when it starts to "sing". But I really hoped that the Engine was modelled close to what we get from A2A in FSX. Unfortunately it´s not. But then you have weapons... still... it makes me sad a little bit. Apart from the engine modelling it´s really fun to fly of course.
  17. You´re right. I did not see Sparkies Post somehow. My assumption is that a lot of people who might be buying a TrackIR now for their "action games" might be tempted to buy an Oculus Rift if it really comes in the same price range or even cheaper than the Development model. Of course, if it will cost 500 bucks or more, it will not affect the TrackIR market. I did not mean that the Oculus Rift will be cheaper than a TrackIR, that would be stupid :-) If I would play games that do not require me to press buttons on external additional Hardware or the Keyboard (like Flight Sims), then I would be very tempted to go the VR route for the better immersion and "I´m in the game" feeling which the Oculus Rift should deliver. And to the Warthog discussion above: You see that I´m not hammering out 180 Bucks for a TrackIR, but I shelled out 270€ for a TM Warthog. I also was pessimistic, but as soon as you open the package and take out the Stick with its cold metal then you´re lost. Since then it sits on my Desk like a king and every flight I take with it is just pure joy. It´s tons of Money, but if I look around what Hardware I bought for my hobby, besides the Logitech G25, this is the best piece of Hardware I bought for a PC hobby ever. It makes me smile, it makes me grin... especially when pressing the 1st stage of the Trigger with a metallic "click" to enable PAC and then activating the 2nd Stage. A lot of people use it in FSX too (I will too, but since I Discovered DCS last November, FSX is resting a bit). The only thing I would probably miss is when I would fly 2nd WW planes ONLY is Force Feedback. In the A2A Spitfire or Mustang in FSX, it helps a lot to push the Airplane to the very limits just before it stalls. That´s easier with FFB. But apart from that, the TM Warthog Stick is the most precise Stick I ever had. :joystick:
  18. Hi, I´ve seen that when you enable "Synchronize HOTAS" with the In-game controls, it does not synchronize everything. The Throttle for example is synchronized and when I start the SIM they have the same position as the Throttle on my Desk. But on the HOTAS Warthog for example when I set the Fluel Flow switches to Override and start the SIM, they are in NORM in the SIM. If I have the APU Switch on my HOTAS Warthog set to APU Start and starting up the SIM, the Switch is synchronized and the APU starts up immediately after I switch on the Battery. So the Synch function does seem to work to some extend, but it´s not synchronizing every button. That must be very annoying for Cockpit builders, isn´t it?
  19. You can get it for as low as ~275€ sometimes, but yes. It´s still a lot of money.
  20. I must admit that I thought about buying a Touch Screen Monitor for Helios for a fraction of a time. But I find them too expensive and I hate using the Touch Screens of Smartphones too. Maybe I should notice that I´m a very "tactile" guy writing on Cherry G-3000s, IBM Model Ms and Model Fs distributed on all the PCs I use at work and at home. And since I got a 2nd monitor for free, the MFD Cougar Route was the way to go for me, with some additional exported Panels. But it´s great that we have so many options in this niche market of Flight Sims that everyone can build what he´s comfortable with. It amazes me how much variation and option we have, although everyone is claiming that the Flight Sim Market is a small one (but maybe a market where people are willing to spend money on). And I will get a Headtracker sooner or later, I´m just not willing to shell out that much money for it. I know I know... once you have it you don´t care for the money (I have a TM Warthog, so I think I know how it feels before and after buying something expensive for an armchair hobby) :music_whistling:
  21. Sure, I won´t throw my pedals away. If you have already one it´s great. I just meant that if you fly the A-10 alone and nothing else pedals are not 1st priority because of all the SAS stuff (or whatever it is called) you rarely miss them when flying. I did not meant the Oculus Rift to use it with a Flight Simulator. What I meant is, that TrackIR is currently the only one selling a Headtracker. With the Oculus Rift arriving (and if it´s really "only" 300USD as the DevKit is), then it might have a big impact on the amount of TrackIRs they will sell in the future and may adjust their prices a little bit downwards. That´s like playing with money on the Wallstreet of course, but I´m a patient man and I can wait. I don´t really miss a Headtracking device that much right now and I played around with it some time ago with LEDs, a WiiMote and FreeTrack with Live for Speed and I think Grand Prix Legends back then. I was not able to control the car at all with the Head Movement, but this might be different in a plane of course. Currently I have too much to do to learn all the systems in the A-10C and after that the same for the KA-50, so I have plenty of time left until I think I´m that good that I will benefit from a Headtracker (although it´s really tempting to get one of course). Edit: About Facetrack Noir. I don´t have a Webcam at all and after playing with Freetrack for a while with Hardware I had anyway, I think I´ll wait for a good opportunity to buy a TrackIR instead of shelling out money for additional Hardware I don´t really need. But thanks for the advise :-)
  22. I won´t consider Pedals a must when you fly the A-10 and rarely do crosswind landings. For taxiing on the ground, the yx (zx, depending on your Keyboard Layout) is enough. The best addition after the TM Warthog for me were the Cougar MFDs strapped on to a 2nd monitor. I am tempted to buy a TrackIR too, but it´s far too expensive for my taste. I am patient and will wait until the Oculus Rift apperas. I assume that it can shake up the very small market for Headtracking devices a little bit and I hope for a price drop for the TrackIR. Let´s wait and see.
  23. Thanks PeterP, that´s also a tempting solution. I try to run as less stuff in the Background as possible, so I´ll stick to the "Windowed" solution by tampering with the Monitor Config LUA and the MissionEditor.lua for now. It runs quite well, now just my new Cougar MFDs should arrive (the new ones were broken after roughly 2 hours of usage), then it would be perfect :pilotfly:
  24. I found the correct lines and was able to modify it to me needs. Everything works fine now, thanks for your help :-)
  25. Yes, I tweaked the settings in Quirkitized LUA file a little bit to make the Window slightly bigger. I also tried to make it Full Screen on the right screen, but failed to do so. I think I can "live" with the Windows mode, although I need to drag it over everytime I start it. But it might be useful when editing missions anyway when working with 2 Screens and when I do Multiplayer, the Multiplayer GUI is loaded instantly, which in turn uses the Monitor Config LUAs instead and runs Full Screen out of the Box. I think it´s OK so far. At least I can read everything now which was otherwise hidden behind the Couger MFDs and resulted in a lot of guesswork when clicking on something obstructed  Thanks to both of you, you were of great help :)
