  1. @Fox One:

you have an very good eye for details!

but... I wonder that you did not mentioned that our AI Focke Wulf pilot is simply opening the canopy when he's bailing out.

The canopy should be jettisoned just like the one of the P-51.

Check the image of the headrest that you attached:

    Achtung! Haubenabwurf durch Sprengladung.

translation: Caution! Canopy jettisoned by explosive charges.

Ok. That's not a model detail.

But in the end it's something I can see when I shoot down the FW190 ;)

Whereas I can't see model details (or don't have time to check them) in a dogfight... :joystick: :D

Anyway, I like your sense for even smallest details!

  2. hm...

    I allways get him...

And I can follow most of his moves and tricks...

The only thing that I don't like is that the 190 AI plays this 'climb-till-stall' game like the P-51 AI.

    Energyefficient flying is essential.

You really need to trim the P-51 continuously.

I can do a track file and a small movie dogfighting with the Focke Wulf if that will help.

    Just drop a note.

  3. How German law applies to somebody uploading textures with swastikas to ED server (when neither server or company itself is German)?

    @GeorgeLKMT:

Ooops, I think there is a little misunderstanding.

These laws apply of course only to Germany (and Austria).

    @SiThSpAwN:

Right. No swastika in games or sims in germany.

Games and sims are considered as entertainment.

    Swastikas have to be removed.

    @Razor5-1:

    Sure.

But I think at least Frogisis and SiThSpAwN (and GeorgeLKMT) found that topic interesting. :smilewink:

Ok. back to topic :smartass: :pilotfly:

  4. Well, adding those symbols to existing textures and releasing it as mod for download shouldn't be forbidden.

    Does not change anything.

It does not fit the restrictions of the german penal code.

The symbol is classified as unconstitutional and you would distribute it in this way.

    But:

Section 4 of the mentioned § 86 of german civil code says also:

If the guilt is low, the court may waive the punishment under this provision.

Which means that nobody is really getting into trouble if one is sitting at home and is flying virtually a plane with a swastika painted on it's tail.

But it's definitely not allowed to distribute the swastika via a game or sim software.

    Or in a model kit.

Finally, Germany is a (fairly) free country...

The judiciary is only slightly sensitive when it comes to anti-constitutional symbols.

  5. I wonder how model airplane kits are treated...

Military model kits of that era are not allowed to display swastika.

The symbol is simply missing in the kit or it is overprinted in black or cut out from the decal sheet.

  6. In fact, there are even backup tail textures called fw-190_01_s.bmp.dds and fw-190_01_red_s.bmp.dds that have the real tail markings (guess what the '_s' stands for! Just remove it and overwrite).

The problem for game developers is that the swastika (or Hakenkreuz) is forbidden to be displayed in Germany and Austria (and some other countries).

According to the german penal code it is only allowed to display swastika in case of:

"civic information, the defense of unconstitutional efforts, the art or science, research or teaching, reporting on events of current affairs or history or similar purposes".

Computer games don't fit in any of these cases.

We have had unpleasant experiences with this symbol here in Germany.

No wonder, then, that the judiciary is somewhat restrictive here in this matter.

  7. Hmmm...

have you tried to assign the brakes to a key and tested what happens?

maybe the potis of your Saitek pedals are wearing out and start to 'spike'?

I use the paddle switch of my stick to hold the brakes.

And I can easily hold the plane with 90% core rpm.

Btw: each of the TF34 engine produces ca. 9,250 lb (or ca. 40 kN) not 75000 lbs.

Which would be a funny ride on the cannonball, though... :joystick:

  8. 3. Than he kept on going on that turn at around 1000m alt... I needed to go in max Manifold to keep up and manage to finish him in the end... but without any defensive from his side, apart from a small break turn when I got near him in the first attack but after I smoked him.

Made the same 'ring-a-ring-a-rosie' experience at 1000m.

I got him quite quick because I was able to pull a harder turn.

Shot him down without any defensive maneuvers of our 109 AI buddy.

  9. you guys use rudder at all to do this?

    Redfish is right.

It's best to forget for refueling that the A-10 even has a rudder.

A good idea is to take your feet off the rudder pedals.

    No rudder input during refueling.

    Also important:

    Adjust only one axis!

    Pitch or roll.

    Not both.

Before you get in pre-contact position:

you may want to reset trim by pressing the t/o trim button on the sas panel (next to the flaps switch).

  10. After all that practice you should be able to refuel while flying with your keyboard

The first person who can prove that he can refuel flying with the keyboard only (video evidence), receives a high quality digital painting of a A-10C as an reward.

Qualification: Complete refuel - no disconnect.

    Let's see if someone's actually trying... :D:D:D

  11. Btw:

A good training for aerial refueling is to set up a mission with a tanker and let him fly for say 80 miles in a straight line. Speed about 180 knts.

Get close and don't ask for refueling, so he won't lower the boom. It's too distracting.

Just get behind him and fly close formation in refueling position.

Do it until you get real comfortable in that position.

    I've learned it that way.

I guess real pilots learn it in a similar way.

It should look like this (I'm pretty shure you know that...):
