Fair enough…I‘m also just basing it on tech specs. But I did have a G2 myself, so I know how fresnel lenses are like. It‘s also true, that until you have tried pancake lenses, you don‘t really know what you are missing.
From what I read, the HTC only supports 90Hz refresh rate. It‘s simply much easier to match 72 or 80Hz with FPS and hence have a smooth experience. That‘s another red flag for me…
In case you are wondering…I went for the Quest Pro and I‘m very happy with it. Sometimes I wish it had better res…somewhere around where the HTC is actually…but as I said, very happy with the overall experience.
Thank you. That's a good answer.
I've been looking into the Quest Pro, but was under the impression that it was even worse than Meta Quest 3?

Yes you are correct. The regular not S Quest 3 has a very bad facial interface. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Alright. That's unfortunate... . Thanks for the clarification

I‘m just saying, you want to throw out a significant amount of money for very little gain over the G2.
May I ask what you are basing that on? Own experience, or tech data comparisons? I am in the same dilemma as the OP and I find it very confusing to identify any replacement because there seems to be some sort of discrepency between tech info and experience, and it also seems highly subjective. I've tried the Crystal Light but experience what the OP have described and I am in the process of returning it.

So it seems. Good to know, actually.

I have a Quest 3. You are absolutely on point with the sensation. The stock facial interface is terrible. An alternative one is almost mandatory should you get a Quest headset.
The OP mentioned the Quest 3S. Just to clarify; you are referring to the Quest 3, and the Quest 3 (not S) is also terrible in regards to the facial interface? I am in the same dilemma on choosing a replacement for the HP Reverb G2, but there seems to be some sort of vacuum in finding a clear choice to replace it with.

I had the same issues with eye strain. This helped a lot:
Thank you so much for your input, but as Blackhawk mentions above, this is probably only possible with the controllers, which I do not have unfortunately...

There is an app called "Pupil distance" and you can use it at least once for free.
I measured the distance with my iPhone, and adjusted the Pimax accordingly.
There should be a popup telling you the distance in the Pimax as you adjust.Try wearing them higher on the nose.
-Or lower, but I have to keep them fairly high. So high it actually feels a bit wrong, but gives the best image.
Also: If you wear reading glasses, you can try to wear them under the Pimax as a test to see if it feel better. If so, you can buy some prescription lenses:
https://vroptician.com/prescription-lens-inserts/pimax-crystalThank you for your reply. I am not having significant issues with the IPD distance itself, but rather the offset values - horizontal/vertical. The right and left eye are unaligned, and I am struggling with aligning them.
I've tried entering the sim and focus on stars, lights, buildings and so on in the distance (which Pimax suggests) but I am unable to align them so that it is comfortable to wear the headsets longer than 30 seconds. I am also having issues with "bulging" in the center, i.e. the middle focus point is very small and the slightest head movement reveals these points clearly as bulging lines.
I am not wearing glasses.

Hello. I have had major issues with adapting to the Pimax Crystal Light. I experience significant nausea and eye-strain within seconds. I have set my IPD distance according to the instructions from Pimax, and I have spent many hours adjusting offset lens viewpoints, but with no success.
I received a new pair of lenses to no effect at all.
I had the HP Reverb G2 before this one which felt much more comfortable and user-friendly.
I am now troubleshooting to figure out any fixes I can do before I have to return them. Therefore I request some input on how to be certain I am doing the IPD adjustsments correctly. How do you set your offsets?

Old topic but just discovered in the jester Menu in Navigation submenu you can see the Alignment process summarized in the center of the Jester wheel in white text.
Excellent, thanks for picking up the thread
I read somewhere about this feature but have not tried it out yet. Will do!

Regarding the CH47:
I see it's stated that the flare expanse sound is fixed, however it is still barely noticeable, if at all. The chaff sound however is increased from before.

Hello. I have been having an issue with the CH47 where the flare expanse sound is low and barely noticeable. Somewhat lower than the chaff sound but that one is also low. I've compared to other choppers and they are significantly louder. Is this correct?

I am having the same issue. Setting on/off have no effect, and the dots are always present. using hp reverb g2

May I ask if the gunner status window is working for you?
I use multi-monitor setup, and I cant see itDont know. I have not checked. Is it related to this topic?

With the rear gunner "Installed" the cargo door is tilted all the way down resulting in the door scraping the ground. No visible/functional damage, but looks rather odd. The gunner is also looking down with the tilt. Is it possible to adjust the door tilt with the rear gunner installed? If not, would Eagle Dynamics look into leveling the rear door and/or also be able to close it entirely?

Just open the description.lua of the skin with notepad++ or similar (the normal notepad might break things) and comment out or delete the line that defines the countries.
Thanks, however I was looking for software similar to the ones mentioned.

Hello.
With the last updates "Livery unlocker" (DCS Livery Unlocker v1.2.1 [UPDATED] (digitalcombatsimulator.com) ) no longer works. May be user error, but have not identified what the issue is.
-Does it still work, and if so; how?
-Any other alternatives to unlock base-game and downloaded liveries?

How is Retribution for quirky issues with DCS updates? For instance, are there occasions when you attempt to fly the mission, and your aircraft just never spawns into the game; you can watch all of the A.I. flights on F-10 view and F-2 views, but the player jet just never spawns?
I have never encountered the issue you mentioned. However, Retribution have settings to specify when the player aircraft starts and how the mission "fast forwarding" should be interrupted. Say the player-flight is starting 10 minutes after the mission start, you can set the mission to fast forward to 10 minutes past mission start time. If you don't activate the fast forwarding with interruption you risk sitting in the F10/outside view for 10 minutes before the player aircraft spawns.

You have "DCS Retribution", which is based on Liberation. I find it very configurable and FPS friendly with a one time setup before starting the campaign. I am unsure how it compares to Liberation since I have not used Liberation in a while, but it is an option you might want to try?

I am having this issue as well, since last update. Moving the VPC collective does not work. Restarting the game with the VPC collective unplugged works

There is no way to see how much the INS has aligned already (also not for the WSO).
If you mess up your alignment, the WSO has to turn off the INS Power Knob and the Navigation Panel Mode. Then you have to wait around 5 minutes for the gyros to fully spool down (no indication for that). Then make sure to have the proper own-aircraft position entered on the Nav Panel. At that point, you can re-start the alignment process by moving the Navigation Panel Mode to Standby and then the INS Power Knob up again.
Details in the manual.
So from what I understand is that without a human WSO I have to shut it down myself and start the process up again manually. Is that correct?
-
Had a flight where the INS-alignement got degraded due to me failing to understand where in the process it was.
-Is there a way to understand how much progress has been in the alignement process, and;
-What to do if the alignment fails?

"I found" a workaround to be to reduce the volume on all sections other than "helmet". The voices and beeps are easier to hear now
-
Hello. I recently received my SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro. They are very good, but I am having issues configuring the sounds to be level between high beeps/voices and low engine sounds.
The engines are very well represented but the voices from ATC or Teammates (also SRS) are barely heard. The same goes for beeps and clicks suck as EW-warnings and such.
Any ideas?
-
I've got a tip to check out the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. Any experiences with these?

Thanks for your suggestion
I am thinking of over ear headsets with the "punch" to feel the engine noise. The HyperX I have today deliver a flat soundscape without the feel of being inside a cockpit. I want something to bring me closer to the real feel of have afterburning engines behind my back...
Considering the HTC VIVE Focus Vision as replacement for HP Reverb G2. Will it work for DCS?

That's good to know. Another feature that is easily missed in the jungle of finding an H2 replacement. Thanks
