The Battle of the Stretch Goal, Part II - Changes!
DerHesse70 replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Word! -
They always have big plans! :smilewink: They do not make the EDGE engine. They only use it.

I'm normally a 100% MP guy. At the moment MP (with P-51D) in DCS is a big pain!! No dedicated servers. To little players online. To little players on one server. And the biggest problem is: Big lags and very low fps if more than one aircraft is shooting.

@Wags/DCS Dev Team, question RE netcode

Definitely the P-51D! :D -
DCS WWII: Europe 1944 Non-Official Trailer # 3
DerHesse70 replied to Charly_Owl's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Very nice video! -
Ok guys then i put my mind at rest. I hope this will be patched soon. One time we started with three Mustang at the same moment and the two in front of me crashed immediately after 100ft. I think this was also about the low fps. :D @xcom: No problem! I got the PW in teamspeak.
-
Thanks it was a lot of fun on the server. But now i definitely know that my PC is not strong enough for MP with 20 aircraft. Frames went down to 11 fps with many tracers in the air. :(
-
The greatest problem for me is that the AI aircraft is not affected by damage!! Only ripping of the wings or setting it on fire will affect it.
-
No..i never see this. Only one time i killed the pilot.

After the last video we see a lot of interesting stuff regarding the FM. For my part i never had any concerns about the physics, FM and aircrafts. I calms me really that YoYo is involved. I have a very high opinion of YoYo and his work! But after all the most important questions for me are open. What about the map and the EDGE engine? I still own the Mustang and i always would buy the Dora if it comes out. I dreamed all the time of an WWII map for this birds in DCS. And now there is this KS left with 8 days and i do know nothing about this engine and the map except for some pictures. My lowest concern is that the map will not look good. :smilewink: The main questions for me are: 1.) Will we have tree collision? 2.) Will we get dedicated servers? 3.) will you improve the netcode? 4.) do we get better damage effects? 5.) will we get windsocks? 6.) which ground vehicles and targets are planned? 7.) will the AI be more affected by damage? 8.) will the AI be able to see through clouds? 9.) will there be proper airports for the allies? 10.) which fps do we get compared to the old engine? Do i need much better hardware? At the end one wish of me: Please make the bigger map with south england the first stretch goal!!! First we need a good map and not so much planes. Specially not such an exotic super plane as the Me 262 that is unfavourable for the MP balance. greetings

I will try to be there.

DCS WWII: Europe 1944 - Unofficial Promotional Trailer
DerHesse70 replied to Bucic's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
But the DM of DCS is not the same for the AI. And that's a big disadvantage. Also there is no tree collision. The ROF and BOS DM is on the same level!! -
This sounds very good! Keep us up to date.

I would pay double the price of an Warthog if the stick comes with a good FFB. I don't understand why all the great manufacturer don't offer FFB sticks as a premium product! That's a big failure!!
-
If you would make the stick with FFB i were very interested!! Don't miss the sale profit!! There is no other manufacturer of FFB sticks at the moment (except paccus). I would never buy again a stick without FFB. greetings Jens (satisfied G940 owner)
-
You need this if you have no FFB stick: http://www.ivibe.com/index.php?page=home @Yo-Yo: The logitech G940 works also perfect in this sim. All you have to do is to deactivate the centre spring and set the FFB force to 120% in the logitech software.
-
Thats right. I have to change my flight technique. I started with flight sims only one year ago with ROF and i flew COD for some hours only. I have to learn that the WWII aircrafts need more speed than the WWI aircrafts in turn fighting. I always lost to much speed. :smilewink:

how to get the most out of the stang?
DerHesse70 replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I played around with the manually cooling (oil and coolant) the last days an realized something. If i switch in combat to manually and hold the switch it opens the doors. If i release the switch it jumps to the middle position. In this middle position the temperatures also didn't increase (respectively decrease if they were to high before). So i think the position of the doors will still held! If i push the switch to auto it activates the auto mechanism again. Is my observation right, that the outlet doors don't change there last position (from close or open) if i release the switch and it jumped into middle position. I only hold the switch in open or close to move the door into the end position. If i release there is nothing active and the door holds his current position. Since i use the manually position for coolant and oilcooler in combat i never had a broken engine again!! -
how to get the most out of the stang?
DerHesse70 replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
How is this possible? The manual says: "The OPEN position of the switch is spring-loaded and must be held in this position manually in order to further open the coolant flap. Releasing the switch from the OPEN position will automatically set it to the OFF position. The OPEN position can be used for ground operations or if manual adjustment of the coolant flap is necessary in flight." I can't hold the radiators open in a combat situation! (i use clickable cockpit and need the hand for other things) :dunno: -
Thanks! I will look out for it. :smilewink:
