UltraMFCD - drag, resize and click display exports. Zero configuration.
Sgt_Baker replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
You can move the kneeboard in exactly the same fashion as the other exports - simply drag/resize it to where you want it. Fullscreen mode is on hold until DCS 2.0 appears, on account of the fact that any fullscreen code written against DCS 1.x.x.x (DirectX 9) would require rewriting for either DX 10 or 11, depending on what ED do on that front. -

The excessive delay is exactly the problem we're having with the latest drivers. Most users would say it renders some of UltraMFCD's functions "unusable". The CDU is the only display that isn't freely-scalable by holding shift while resizing n the .71 release. This will be addressed in the next update. -

The keybindings require a lot of work prior to production release. This work is scheduled for the very near future. -

If you follow the instructions in my sig for creating a diagnostics report, please. Baker -
Hi folks, With the advent of map-related functions in UltraMFCD, it occurred to me that a fair proportion of the work required to get these features to work really well could be delegated to a willing member of the community. Thus, I'm looking for an official cartographer. Ideally, this person should: Have some prior experience with and/or serious interest in mapping/GIS Have access to software such as Photoshop and Illustrator (or equivalents) Exhibit a scary attention to detail Want to work on the coolest mod for DCS, what-what, eh? What's in it for you? In the first instance (basic work on the kneeboard charts) I can offer a free all-in license for UltraMFCD, including all future upgrades, add-on modules and whatever else comes out of the system. That and kudos, of course. Please respond in this thread if you're interested. Many thanks, Baker

If you're getting the "beta expired" message, it means that the particular version of UltraMFCD that you're running has been replaced by a newer one. Should just be a matter of popping along to the website to download the latest version. Obviously the non-beta releases will not be time-limited in this fashion. :) Baker Edit: I've made the messages a little more clear, along with removing the code that automatically shuts uMFCD down in the event of an expired beta. It will not, however, function while expired. -

Although it's not obvious at the moment, each display is already being rendered in full 3D - the reason being the pre-existing plan for VR upgrades. :) -

Just for the record: The issue with the TM HOTAS throttle is that the "lift" force required to overcome the springs is more or less the same as required to lift the entire unit. Silly oversight, that. -

Yep, it's a perpetual project, especially given the near-future prospect of more aircraft with multiple complex displays. As it so happens I began accumulating basic flight experience in the KA-50 just this afternoon. Managed to land on top of a tall block of flats (veeeeery carefully), so all that ancient Helo experience hasn't atrophied completely! Learning the aircraft fully is essential to being able to implement its exports in a useful manner, you see. -

Now... given that Tower is presently incapable of providing instructions more specific than "Taxi to runway XXX" and "Taxi to parking area", wouldn't it be cool if your aircraft's position were overlaid on to the appropriate chart? -

Thanks for the confirmation. The controls indicator bug is actually a two-parter - the other half of it being that the kneeboard no longer displays. Not going to leave you guessing which half I fixed just this afternoon... -

You're not the first person to have reported issues with the latest nVidia drivers (check back a couple of pages in this thread). Unfortunately it's very difficult to determine exactly /why/ any given driver affects standard DirectX operations when its bugged. If nVidia aren't already in the process of releasing a fix for this bug, I suppose we'll have to start bothering them in the near future. :) -

Thanks for the support. The functionality you require is already available in uMFCD. Double-clicking the CDU's screen will show/hide the keyboard. When the keyboard is hidden, the text area can be moved and resized just like any other export. Baker -

That's not at all normal - everything should be happening instantly. Two things: 1. Do you have the latest graphics drivers installed? 2. Could you generate a diagnostics package and post it here, please? (see my sig) Many thanks, Baker -

Yes, the displays can be moved to a second (third, fourth, fifth...) monitor. All you need to do is drag them there in exactly the same way you would drag them around on a single-screen setup. -Baker -

Roger that. I don't have any touchscreens with which to test at the moment, but once uMFCD goes on sale, the proceeds will be used to purchase such hardware at the earliest opportunity. -

The issue here is quite likely to be that the USB monitors are in no way hardware accelerated by any graphics hardware. UltraMFCD's display are all rendered in full-3D DirectX, so likely only work on hardware connected to a dedicated graphics card. UHF Repeater - my mistake. It's not implemented yet, and I forgot to hide that particular button. -Baker -

People, thus far, have not reported that this or that display type doesn't work. As long and Windows thinks "it's a proper display", you should have no problems placing a uMFCD there. -

Thanks again. Regarding that crash all I can say is this: Something in the underlying works (i.e. not our source code) expects one thing. A compatible component expects a different thing. At this time I have no idea which two components are in conflict. -
Lest we not forget that everything in this thread is based on that in the public domain. ;) And also let us not forget that a single aircraft doth not an airforce make. F22s are vital during the "zero hour" phase of operations, yet other machines are required for actions in hours one, two and three, in different applications and different methods of action. After all, the preferred method of action is still to send in the AH-64s! :) P.S. It is no coincidence that NATO decided to develop the weapons they have in the order they were developed. God forbid we consider NATO might be "coordinated"!
