UltraMFCD - drag, resize and click display exports. Zero configuration.
Sgt_Baker replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
Hi Treudd, Yes, the beta versions are coded to automatically expire past a certain date. Rather than look at your system's clock, it checks with our server whether it is time to die. I've already fixed a bug with this, so now the only likely culprit is uMFCD being unable to access ultramfcd.com to check whether it should stay alive. Are you absolutely certain your firewall isn't silently blocking it? B P.S. This mechanism is only present in the beta versions - it prevents confusion where people might potentially report bus from old versions of the software. The production release will not exhibit this behaviour, but instead notify the user that a new version is available - continuing to function regardless. -

I don't see why not. It may take a little bit of fiddling, since the way a "normal" window resizes is from the right. The advantage here, I suppose, is that so much of a normal window's function is already being overridden that this shouldn't be too much of a headache. -

Water quality, you say? Now that is rather strange! Glad to hear you got it working. As usual, I will address this issue in the very near future. B Edit: I'm away from my development environment at the moment, but a short time pondering the issue throws up the likely cause for this bug. Fortunately - if my Sunday morning brain is correct - the fix should merely be the modification of a single line of code. -
Question: Modding night vision in FC3 doable?

Funny you should mention this. My mind has strayed in that direction recently as a result of work on UltraMFCD. For starters (and since it's my main aircraft), I know at the very least an HMCS has been tested with the aircraft, and may be in use on the "F" revision/upgrade/tranche/block/whatevertheycallitthesedays. -

Nothing concrete as yet, although the path has already been paved for precisely this. -

Yes indeed. Go in to DCS's Options and set "Res. of Cockpit Displays" to "1024 Every Frame". uMFCD will force this setting come the next update. B -

The point is that you don't need fullscreen any more. It's a concept firmly rooted in 1998. :) -

Will get back to you on this. nVidia surround is, by definition I think, a fullscreen technology. I may be mistaken here, but DCS is able to perform this function itself - simply set the resolution you desire in-game (3840 x 1080 to cover two HD displays, for example) and it'll go ahead and cover that screen area without any assistance from the graphics driver. In other words, I think Surround/Eyefinity are specifically aimed at games that are incapable of innately operating across multiple displays as DCS does. Thoughts on this from others? B -

Yep, that's almost certainly something to do with me. I ran both KA-50 displays without creating the precise button layouts (none for the Shkval, obviously). Clearly some of that code leaked in to this release. B -

Hmm, that's annoying. Had the exact same issue with the IR Mavs, which was obviously solved. Will look in to this. -

:) I spoke to eric963 via PM. I know the likely cause of the bug he's experiencing. That and double checking that uMFCD plays nice when non-supported aircraft are flown and we're neeeeext. -

The plan for the future is that iControl receives data directly from uMFCD, removing the need to have the exported displays visible anywhere except your phone/tablet. -

Yep, that's symptomatic of stuff not working. Are there any messages in the "System Messages" output? B -
UltraMFCD - drag, resize and click display exports. Zero configuration.
Sgt_Baker replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
Awesome. That message may have been related to the bug I patched in this latest update. The manifestation on this end was a total show-stopper (massive crash), but it could theoretically have been causing your problem. I hope it works out later. :) Edit: It wasn't related, but I have now located and corrected the actual bug you were experiencing. -

Update 3 is available at the usual URL. Fixed intermittent crash of DCS on mission start. Keyboard binding now work properly. B -

Yeah, square screens are uncommon enough to be classed as special application. They exist, but will likely be rather expensive when compared to a 4:3 or 16:9 counterpart with similar features. -

That too is possible. In a certain sense it would make the CDU easier from a programming perspective. -

Incidentally, I've just tracked down and squashed a huge crash. If uMFCD was crashing intermittently on launch, this should now be solved and the fix available in the next update. -

The technical terminology for this is "showing off". -

Sgt_Baker replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
:) Yes, that should be possible. You mean you'd want me to render the CDU rotated 90deg one way or the other, right? -

P.S. I don't know whether I mentioned this previously, but double-clicking the CDU's display will show/hide the keyboard. -

Another Update Update 2 is here: https://ultramfcd.com/Public-Beta-1 Changes: MFCDs now remember their sizes and positions between sessions. All other options are also saved. Significant frame rate improvements "Enable MFCD input" (previously "Touchscreen MFCDs") now works as expected. Note: The graphical buttons will still be visibe - this will be addressed in a future update. If you have trouble with your Export.lua not functioning corectly with UltraMFCD, please disable this option. If your Export.lua works with this option disabled, please get in touch as we're keen to have UltraMFCD work no matter what your Exports might be doing. :) -

:) And with the next update you'll experience the same 3x increase in uMFCD performance as per my previous post. -
