  1. In the Catalyst Control Centre 3D Settings : Wait for Vertical Refresh: This option controls Vertical Synchronization in games, and there are four choices here: Always Off - Vertical Sync will always be set to Off, regardless of the setting in the game or 3D application. This provides fastest performance but may result in image "tearing" which can be annoying to some. Off, Unless Application Specifies - Vertical Sync will be off by default, however if you choose to enable it in a game or 3D application, it will be enabled for that game/app. This is the recommended mode. On, Unless Application Specifies - Same as above, except Vertical Sync will be on by default unless otherwise disabled in a particular game or 3D application. Always On - Vertical Sync will always remain on, regardless of the setting in the game or 3D application. This is not recommended, as it may reduce performance however it guarantees that there will never be any screen "tearing".
  2. Bohemia Interactive (creators of OFP, and the forthcoming Armoured Assault), should get together with Eagle Dynamics for the next flight sim. ED can concentrate on the aircraft. BI can concentrate on the ground war/landscapes. Ejecting in a modern day Flight Sim, usually means “Game Over”, with a static screen displaying your stats, or if rescued or not. This is where BI step in with their expertise. AKA the open ended landscapes that appeared in OFP. If I eject, crash land, or am able to land my damaged bird at a little used, little known, deserted or abandoned civvy airfield, for example. My mission goals have now changed to “Escape and Evade”, and get back to my own lines by any means possible. Did I get spotted ejecting? (Enemy troops on their way to capture me?) Did I eject unobserved? (I have flight maps of the area only, and basic pilots survival kit) How far is it to our lines? Which direction? Can I steal transport? Do I hide during the day, travel by night? Do I avoid built up areas, or go in under cover of darkness to steal a disguise off a washing line! Is my locater beacon transmitting – are my people looking for me (rescue chopper)? The possibilities are endless (and so are the scenarios). I would be willing to pay 80+ GBP for that kind of (hopefully, top class) entertainment. Question is. Would YOU get yourself deliberately shot down just so you could play out the E&E part of the Sim?
  3. Thanks for taking the time to make this training tutorial Ironhand. Once Z posts the Touchbuddy software, and thats up and running. I will be visiting your Web page for everything F15 related. Cheers mate.
  4. Totally agree with Pilotasso, Kula and Iguan. Even from the 1st release (I had a 2.5Ghz Processor, 2Gb RAM, and an 9800 Pro) - and yep, 10fps at some stages. If I remember rightly, most of the threads over at UBI Lock On were all to do with tweaks for this and that to get the old fps up to speed. Most of them were only minor improvements. From setting dx sound acceleration to none, to the infamous ATI .dll tweak. Where the DXRenderer.dll was swapped with the one from the system 32 folder (ati2dvag.dll). The community was split on the result of this one. Many thought it a placebo, just as many said it worked!! Even now, 3 years on here we are, still trying to give ourselves a decent return on fps!!
  5. Morning .... Honest, to manage your downloads, skins and whatnot. Use ModMan, currently at version 5. It was formerly known as LoMan (just in case you hear that name bounded about). Available here (along with loads of other goodies): (About a third of the way down the page): http://www.lockonskins.co.uk/index.php?page=downloads&cat=45
  6. Shoot in its various guises Shoot was good 2 years ago. I used it then. Supported the author via PayPal. And not much has happened since. VAC. Supported the author. Got a Licence: 1. Very active community 2. Very active support 3. Works a lot better than shoot 4. If you post a question on the support site, you actually get an answer from the Dev 5. Buy it. 6. Nuff said. Unless you are one of those Warez knobs who thinks the whole world owes you something - for free? 7. Warez freek? Excellent ..... you don't get terminated, its a vaporising job for you. Sorted
  7. Welcome Honest Hi Honest, I purchased Lock On when it first came out, a few years ago. Over the past few days, I have got back in the saddle. I purchased the Flaming Cliffs add-on (CD version) from Europe (a lot cheaper than what rcsimulations sell it for thats for sure). Ordered it Monday, it arrived Tuesday (from Belgium). I installed it yesterday (you could see Star Force doing its bit). And although its early days - everything is fine. In fact, I can run Lock On without the FC CD in the drive. Buy it the noo. Jings, ye will not be disappointed. All the best.
