  1. No advanced flight model for the A-10A anymore?
  2. Always on the left. As you should be taking off and landing into the wind, the flow of traffic around the airfield should be circular.
  3. Small grey clouds sounds like chaff...? Sure you were popping flares?
  4. Bouncing means you're coming in too fast or descending to quickly. Try keeping the AOA indexer in the 'o' zone, airbrakes at around 30% and flare at the threshold to touch down gently at around 120 knots depending on weight. Edit - My best technique for landing is to trim out perfectly at approach speed and fly a 3 degree glide slope. Lead should taxi on the left, the rest of the flight stagger behind (2 in the right lane, 3 left, 4 right)
  5. As far as I'm concerned everything in DCS is beta, as new updates continually break things that worked before. I think this is just something we have to live with in such a complex game. Nothing will ever be perfect.
  6. Put your dcs install on an SSD. Was a right PITA to reinstall everything but was probably the best decision I ever made and eliminated most of the 'choppiness' for me.
  7. Well, good luck America. I've put my 7 hours in and I'm off to bed. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I'm not all that bothered to be honest. Now, if it was the F/A-18 update though... Then you'd have a riot on your hands ;)
  8. OK, I started downloading when I got back from work at 5:20pm and went out. I've just got home and it's now 12:25am and the auto updater is still going. Is this a joke?
  9. I don't think the speed of 'your' connection matters much when using the auto updater. It's the load on the server. I'm getting 8.2 KB/s at the moment on an 8mb connection, instead of the 2.1 MB/s I get on Steam (~250 times slower). Gonna be a looooooong wait!
  10. No mention of the advanced flight model for the A-10A in the change log?... Has this feature been scrapped?
  11. Sometimes I wish I was seriously rich... bet those things don't come cheap!
  12. Thanks for clearing that up and for the link. Some excellent documents there.
  13. I'm pretty sure I get Su27/Mig29 RWR warnings in the A-10, from AI controlled aircraft... I'm not sure about player controlled. I know that in 1.2.2 the RWR in the A10 would show a F-15 symbol when hit by the F-15 search radar and a 'spike' (circle around the symbol) when another player locked me in STT (should this happen in TWS as well?). This has however ceased to work in 1.2.3. Just for clarification, nails means a symbol on the RWR and spike means the symbol within a circle on the RWR (indicating a lock)? All this bugging/tracking/locking targets and nails/spike talk gets confusing quickly for ground pounder like me! p.s thanks for the input Mustang. Glad to hear it's on the known bugs list.
  14. Can anyone else confirm this is a bug and not a feature?
  15. Yeah, multirole is definitely the way forward. Load up with missiles if you want to fly A-A or bombs and pods for A-G. It's can be all things to all pilots. There's definitely room for an air superiority fighter in the future though. I'd love to fly my DCS F-15 aggressors through the valleys of Nevada, trying to make it a real bad day for some F/A-18's. Fingers crossed for this time next year!
  16. Regarding a pure A-A module, I think an F-15C is already in the works, but I'd rather have something that can sling a few HARM's first then switch to a CAP role. Would be less frustrating for the hog drivers and allow for realistic mission scenarios with SEAD and escorts. I'd personally HATE to see a low fidelity (and it would be) F-22 or JSF, as I fear it would attract the instant gratification generation and provide them with an idiot proof 'God mode' aircraft with which to 'pwn' us all. I think FC3 covers the A-A role well enough for now anyway, filling a gap before the 'real' fighters arrive and hopefully being slightly inferior to them when they do (for a well trained pilot anyway).
  17. Yeah, I can't see why everyone wants the superhornet. I'll take the 'legacy' version with more realistic avionics any day of the week. Although I'd still rather have the Viper. The F-16 needs some serious love in DCS :(
  18. I agree that seven G looks great, but lack of multiplayer is a deal breaker and I doubt it will include the same quality and variety of ground and air units that make DCS such an outstanding simulator. Personally I can't wait to jump into DCS F/A-18 and fly some wild weasel or deep strikes while DCS F-15's prowl the skies above and the A-10's take care of CAS. Throw in a dynamic campaign and I'd never leave the house.
  19. As far as I know the A-10C uses the AN/ALR-69 RWR, the same as fitted to the F-16 and should be able to detect pulse doppler radar signatures.
  20. Not getting F-15 buddy spikes on the RWR any more in 1.2.3. Also noticed the fuel gauge test button now shows one tank being slightly emptier after the update.
