  1. SR-71 if enough information are available
  2. For me it stops at 12% and stays there permanently. Very annoying.
  3. I actually tried a vr device somewhere in the first half of the nineties. It was not a product for sale but an attraction in an amusement park. Pretty impressive at that time but shitty by today's standards. It doesn't even come close to the rift. They are world apart. I'm sure you have convince yourself that it is crap and so it is but can we give any credit to someone who talk about something he haven't tried? Are you even honest with yourself there?
  4. I own a kit and honestly you sound like a worm talking about the sun. I tried Live for Speed ( a race sim) with vireio. The issues you points for sims (I played with a wheel) are pretty much non-issues even though it is a matter of personnal convenience. The resolution of the current rift already give a very convincing experience. Btw having played Half life 2 with the rift for hours your comment about FPS is a bit funny :pilotfly: Sure it is lacking in certain areas and for some games it shows but the main problem is the resolution and it should be solve pretty quickly. The 1080p should be enough for many kind of experiences. I'm sure the 1440p won't be that far behind too. Haters gonna hate :music_whistling:
  5. Somewhere in 2014. Can't be more accurate. If I had to guess I would say first quarter but we never know. I think their product is almost ready but they are waiting for sufficient game support before launch. I'm looking forward to the release of Vorpx (http://www.vorpx.com/). It is likely that DCS will be compatible and even if it wouldn't be as good as a native support it should give us a good taste of it :D
  6. You don't have to have an output on both the rift and your monitor. You can have only the rift if you want. It isn't very pratical though since windows can't be switch to an Occulus mode.
  7. Have you set your screen resolution to the rift resolution? It is kind of weird otherwise There is nothing to see on the gauge. They are empty. I don't know if you have tried the titans of space demo: there is a zoom in there that would solve the problem of seeing small details. You would you have to set the zoom function on a spare buton.
  8. Impressive with when watched with the rift
  9. Apparently I can't play hawken with rift but I watch that video with the rift on my head. It shows pretty well how it looks (set on 720 p). Very sufficent for me. Of course you can't see the small digits but I don't need them.
  10. This is not a relevant observation. The pixel density is more than 2 time greater in the center. The 2 sides of the screen overlap and the image is distorted so you get more detail in the center. I will try hawken this afternoon. it should give me a better view since there are gauge in the cockpit (I don't think they are operational but it should do).
  11. I have to disagree. I looked at it with the gauge reading in mind and I felt it was sufficient. With the occulus you will be much closer to the instruments panel than you are with a monitor. Well maybe you won't be able to see the smallest digits but when you know your aircraft you just need to see the arrow to know the reading. I actually can't read them on my monitor with the FOV i use to fly normally and it is hardly an issue. Seeing other planes is another issue but it is pretty hard to see them on a monitor as well. Padlock compensate for that. DCS could also make other planes at least one pixel big as soon as they are at a distance where you would see them in real life. That would do the trick.
  12. Yep you're wrong. I have tried it for 15 min tonight (just received my kit) and I'm stunned (and motion sick as shit :megalol:). The resolution is already enough for a proper experience in DCS IMO. I was quite surprise with the image knowing the crappy resolution.

    Skin request

It looks perfect or at least as much as possible within DCS environement

 Amazing job The red tone is not quite right. It should be more ferrari like but that is a very good work nonetheless.

    If someone feels skilled enough to do a good airgreenland skin :D Very gaudy. I love it. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/79/Bell_212_air_greenland_upernavik_2007-07-05.jpg http://www.aircraftimages.net/displaylarge.php?phtID=17404 http://behance.vo.llnwd.net/profiles18/2023261/projects/7757887/23bda481aade9165baf9e07509f91a72.jpg http://www.knr.gl/sites/default/files/imagecache/340X264_news/bell_212_0.jpg http://www.airgreenland.com/charter/fly_og_helikoptere/bell_212/ http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Qaarsut-airport-air-greenland-bell212-dash7.jpg http://aussiex.org/forum/screenshots/monthly_07_2012/thumb-56a29a6d898c52e382ed085a39637fce-.png
  16. For me the Huey is very easy to fly around and do slalom around the buildings and stuff. It is the landing that took me some time to get through alive.
  17. From what I heard it seems to vary from one person to another. Hopefully i'll get lucky. Is it the same as watching an IMAX movie or is it more prononced? I do like it in IMAX.
  18. You don't have the pixel concentration in the center with this setup. The rift should be better. It is probably not a perfect experience but what you will lose in detail you will gain in feeling. You brain beleives he is moving and that is a huge + And btw it isn't as if DCS world environement was good to look at in the first place :D I should receive a kit soon enough (I expect first 10 days of june) and get a clearer view.
  19. It is good enough for the Huey or the P-51 which is already something. :D
  20. At first I thought the battery of the helicopter was dead :D
  21. I would love a PT-17 but only for the sake of having a biplane in DCS. Training aircrafts exist IRL because it is more cost effective to train a pilote with a cheaper to buy, to maintain and refuel aircraft rather than go straight to the race horse. You need 2 seats too. There is no point on a computer.
  22. If it is possible I haven't found how. Could we have the clickable cockpit and the mouse view at the same time. I mean without having to push a buton to switch between the 2? It makes no sense to me. Also I happened to be unable to map the switch button on my mouse. Where it would be the most convenient.
  23. I would go for randomly generated maps :D
  24. Sounds a bit dramatic to me but as -=Demon=-said we are more daydreaming than anything here. I am no programmer (aprt from a few notions) but I guess it all depends on how the ED's engine is integrated and how the Outerra's works. It might not be that difficult. Or at least compared to making a new engine yourself. I think that, overall, it is better to focus on what you do right (simulate in our case) and leave the other stuff to people who knows what they are doing in their field. I do understand the urge to "Do everyhting by yourself", it is fun, kind of, but it is rarely efficient. I do hope though that ED will prove me uterly wrong.
  25. From what we can see on the forum about EDGE I'm not very impressed by it. It is a bit better looking than the current engine but not that much and we have no idea how much it is gonna take from our computer's ressources. They should not try to reinvent the wheel and go the Outerra way. The potential of that thing is astonishing.
