  1. Just want to say thanks for this campaign! I'm really enjoying it, it's a great way to learn this plane!
  2. Here's the track with the problem. I think maybe the mistake I made was from copying & pasting instead of extracting the folder files. F4u campaign .trk
  3. After reinstalling the campaign, everything seems to work OK .
  4. I've tried the first & second missions, but the voice instructions don't seem to always progress to the next instruction. In the first start up mission, after completing an instruction , the next instruction sometimes doesn't happen for a minute or two. The mission didn't say when it was completed, I just guessed it was done. In the second taxi & take off mission, no instructions happened after the control input check before take off. After waiting a couple of minutes & no more instructions happening, I went ahead & took off & landed ,then quit the mission to find out I had failed. Maybe there's a problem with my campaign install, I want this to work though because I think it's a great idea.
  5. I think watching your videos has helped me, Holbeach. I can do at least half- way decent landings now , over half the time , although I'm starting to realize that in real life the RAF might not have granted me 2 or 3 hundred airplanes to crash while I got the technique down. I think one of the problems I had was flaring too high, misjudging my height over the runway & then having the plane drop out of the air with not enough speed. I haven't tried landing a heavily loaded Mosquito yet, but now I'm trying to slowly introduce a crosswind. This will be a test of the landing gear. The gear seems like it might be modeled to be really too fragile, but I'll never know . Anyway, I appreciate everyone's discussion here.
  6. Holbeach, those were really decent landings! I wish I could have a landing that good. If you ever have a chance, I'd like to see a video with the right control + enter control indicator box open so I can try and copy your input procedure. What's especially been giving me a lot of trouble lately is keeping the plane straight on the runway after touchdown. I'd like to see how you do that.
  7. Lately I've been trying landing with about 30 % flaps down instead of fully down & I think it might be better. I think it gives me a little better speed control after the flare & lets the plane settle more gradually (at least this is what I believe so far). I still have a great deal of difficulty most of the time with keeping the plane straight on the runway after touchdown though. Also, a few times the plane has nosed over just before coming to a stop even though I have the stick fully pulled back & no brakes applied. I don't understand.
  8. Oh no, I'm talking about landing the plane , not taxiing. You're right , I never did try taxiing with one engine, I wouldn't know how to . I would like to know if other people have mastered the landings or find them extremely difficult.
  9. Did something change in the last year with the Mosquito flight model? The last time I tried the Mosquito was quite a while ago but I was able to have pretty fair landings at least half the time. I was even able to do some good landings with one engine out. Now though, I've tried landing about a hundred times & they've all been bad. It seems utterly impossible. I try to cross the threshold at about 110-120 mph and set the plane down as gently as possible but it never seems to turn out well. 90% of the time I bend the props & gear , but if I am able to keep the props & gear in good shape , the plane doesn't want to stay straight on the runway & I end up nosing over. Could the real Mosquito have been that fragile? Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? best one so far Mosquito landing.trk
  10. I agree with Jmig. Because DCS is a study level sim, I've always thought that step by step training campaigns would be most helpful for all DCS aircraft. You tube videos are good, but I always feel like I'm jumping into the middle of a text book to learn one specific thing about complicated planes and their weapons systems. A structured training campaign , telling you in what order you need to learn an aircraft & its systems, and taking you through them with lessons would really be a huge help to newbies like me, or at least just me.
  11. I have wondered the same question. I mostly fly only in single player, maybe that matters, but the P 47 shows no diving advantage in catching up to other planes, or escaping in a dive . Robert S. Johnson though , seemed to think the diving ability of the P 47 was one of its greatest advantages, he mentions it in his book "Thunderbolt" & also in this from an old interview post on the ACES High forum): CCJ: What about facing the Fw 190 and Messerschmitts? RSJ: The Focke Wulf reminded me of the Corsair. It was much smaller of course, but they both had similar maneuverability. It wasn't quite as fast, but turned well. It was unusual to find Focke Wulfs above us. Generally, we held the advantage in height. The Me 109 was another story. They could often be seen up above 35,000 feet. CCJ: What was the biggest mistake a German pilot could make? RSJ: Trying to escape in a dive or split-S. CCJ: Why? RSJ: Because they were not going to out-run the Thunderbolt in a dive. CCJ: You could catch them without a problem. RSJ: I could catch them in nothing flat. CCJ: Really? RSJ: Absolutely. One thing about the 190, if the pilot continued his dive below 7 or 8 thousand feet, he could not pull out before he hit the ground. I guess they had compressibility problems or the elevators got too stiff. Whatever the problem was, I watched several of them pancake in before they could level off. CCJ: What about the Thunderbolt? RSJ: It did not have that problem down that low. Up high, above 25,000 feet, yes, I could get into compressibility and the elevators locked up like they were in concrete. But once you got down to thicker air, you regained control.
  12. Yes! It was the low textures not allowing me to see all the info on the HUD. Thanks, very much appreciated!
  13. I've been trying out vertical take offs & landings but I don't know why I don't see the witch hat , slip indicator, angle of attack indicator on the HUD. I have the VSTOL mode button enabled . What do I need to do to get that on my HUD?
  14. I would like to post the log folder, but I must be missing something in how to attach it to my post. I click on the "manage attachments" button or the attachments icon in my message, but nothing happens. Anyway, the folder has many files like this: dcs.20180329-014746.crash & dcs.20180329-014746.dmp.
  15. Thanks for the responses. I'm wondering my computer isn't able to handle logging onto the multiplayer missions. It's an Intel i5 4670 cpu 3.40 ghz. 16 gb ram, Windows 7, 64 bit. I use a wireless router.
