They just gotta know where to look
Plenty of intact planes and detailed information (not reconstructed from scrap like in most US museums) but many of these locations are pretty somber sties in Japan. Not too sure the owners are keen on having the planes scrutinized for entertainment development. Most of the aircraft they do not even allow to be photographed. Took what I could, still they had what I think was a KI84 just sitting out in the rain so they must not be terribly concerned with her.The shots are from Chiran Peace Museum/Yasakuni Shine museum a few months ago:
There are flying examples and one recently was restored and flown in the U.S. last month.

You sound pretty new if you think the aircraft we have are mostly guesswork and that would be ok for a f35. No offense but that’s just not how it is.
I fly for a living. I spent 22 years in the military and between the two I know and have shared dcs with mil pilots that fly the Apache, F16, F18, F5, Harrier, A10 and some others. I even flew with a prior Iraqi mig 21 pilot. Every single one of them confirmed how accurate they are from the normal systems, weapons systems, subpages within the aircraft mfd software, etc. I also fly with current and former mil pilots in my DCS squadron on a weekly basis, same thing. Even someone who doesn’t fly and/or have access to people like that can look at plenty of mil pilots flying and talking about DCS aircraft on YouTube. I’m at a loss for words that you'd even insinuate that anything we currently have is based mostly on guess work.

I’ve done this mission 8 times. Complete all tasks, call inbound to the carrier at the end, call see you at 10 and get switch tower. After that I get no other comms no matter how close I get. I’ve tried just landing but that won’t allow me to advance to the next mission.

Yes casmo even talk about it in n his videos

I’d be surprised if a campaign that simulated a deployment with Cosmo or one of the other irl pilots wasn’t in the works for the Afghanistan/iraq map when it’s out.

Yeah, I'm not paying $70 for that.
Cool story bro
It’s one of the best imo. I fly irl and take notice when they model things down to the circuit breakers. That matters to me. The one and only thing that could be done is to update the cockpit textures, they’re a little behind but not bad imo.

I’m truly amazed there are people still complaining about minor things that we all know polychop will update and fix.
1 minute ago, Ebphoto said:I have only flown it for a little while and I have noticed a few of the items mentioned in your post as well. The very first thing I noticed right off was it sounds like a weed whacker outside! I have never heard a helicopter sound like this before and I’ve been around helos for a very long time! I think the Gazelle sounds very good and was thinking the Kiowa would sound similar since they’re both from Polychop but nope. It just sounds off to me. Even if you compare it to actual real Kiowa video footage. The blade slap sounds okay but overall the sound is off. The only thing I can compare it to is a weak whacker. I also noticed the gun ammo not being animated but wasn’t too concerned about it. The 50 cal sounds good though! These are pretty easy things to fix though and I’m sure they’ll address them. I’ll have to spend some more time with it before I can comment on the other items though. I just haven’t been able to fly much today.
It sounds like a Kiowa and I’ve been around them

If it were an early access version, I would understand all these problems, but for a "full" version, I felt cheated. It doesn't even have a damage model. I remember the videos of the people who did an "early access" version saying that it didn't represent the final version, but in the end we received the same product as they did. Despite everything, I'm enjoying flying it, even though I find it extremely easy to fly. I even wonder if all the physics are implemented or just a simplified flight model. One thing is for sure. I will never buy another product from Polychop. It's the first and the last.
Cool story…

With enough runway, it will fly with whatever you can physically hang on it as long as both engines are operating. Lose one and farms are bought if operating outside established guidelines.
Of course, DCS doesn’t really simulate all the high speed abort/single engine go factors since practicing all that silliness is pretty dull.
Not really. There's still max tire speeds on the ground and that has nothing to do with go/no go

@spinCycle small correction Manifold pressure in P-51 is in inHg not in psi and it is absolute pressure so when engine is not running it will show 30 inHg.
50 inch of MP it will be about 10psi boost or 24psi absolute pressure in manifold.
at 110mph you are very close to stall speed, it is very slow, cooling system will not cool engine at this speed.
After take off accelerate to 170-180 mph and put plane in to climb.
As @Art-J said, i highly recommend to drop Game Flight Mode immediately.
We are real world pilots. We don’t use game mode and we understand how to keep an engine cool. It was a problem when this plane first came out and was fixed. The problem returned and the only fix is taking the radiators out of auto and fully opening. Doesn’t matter if you’re idling get n the ground, clumping at 250 mph, cruising within proper parameters at 20k, etc.

I flew tested it after recent update and i didn't notice any change
There was a change, somehow, someway. We fly the 51 a lot. It’s overheating just sitting on the ground in auto.

As it is and to my knowledge we can’t have different weather in different parts of a map. It would be nice to be able to have weather that requires an approach at the departure field or carrier and clear/more clear weather at the target area.
-
I’m trying to figure this too. I’d like to have weather that requires an instrument approach at the departure base or carrier and more clear weather at the target area. So far it doesn’t seem like this is possible, unfortunately.
-
Pretty sure, as usual, it’ll be modeled as close to the real aircraft as possible. There won’t be any arcade help/controllers.

dude, not saying you cn't master that many planes, but I know some very good pilots and people whocould not master many, as it is just too much, sure you can get good with a few, but master? Like the rest of us we look forward to adding our favorites, but at some point some will collect dust... of course the Apache is the big one so many people await...
I own almost everything in dcs and with the exception of one, I fly each of them to their fullest within the sim.

Is your wheel brake on? I had an issue with that yesterday.
I just figured it out. Knew it was me. I mistaked the emergency gear lever for the E Brake. Gear work fine. Thanks for the replies.

Figured it out. Posted my stupidity above.

No, it's off. I taxi to a runway to takeoff.
-
I’m sure it’s something missing on my part but I can’t get the landing gear to retract. Any ideas? Using G doesn't do anything but move the locking lever and handle up, gear stays down. Same if I use my hotas and if I use the mouse in the cockpit.

The flickering is bad enough that it’s unplayable for me.

In thousands of hours of real flight time in everything from a 152, high powered pistons, turbo props and jets, I've never been in a plane that had the nose just float around the way this one does. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful plane they made here, I just hope they get more into the FM. Planes are meant to be stable. One of my pet peeves is when people who have never flown a plane think/say they shouldn't be on "rails". I hate to tell ya, they are designed to be on rails as much as possible and floating around isn't realistic. Here's to hope!
-
Without looking that seems like something that would be corrected pretty fast and not left as standard.
-
My problem is the right side "throttle".... not the left side. Engine management has + for increase - for decrease engine throttle. The HOTAS throttle on the right side is a slide XY so it can go - or +. Please advise.
Ok, dumb question but are you trying to set it up under axis controls?
-
I was hoping to see some by now too.

I don't use turbo for takeoff, all you need it 52" MP for a good takeoff.
You don't need that much

It absolutely does not, but aircraft in general should feel that way when you fly them. I've never understood where this has come from but it only comes from people that do not actually fly irl.
