  1. I think not? Sometimes I like to creep forward slowly at like 20kph or something and Turn to Target should still work. Your Shvkal has to be stationary and not tracking.
  2. Thanks everyone for your input. I get out of control pretty quick like Frederf's example actually, with rudder trim on. Its my fault but it just seems restrictive, unnatural and something I have to monitor constantly. Its gonna kill me more than enemy SAMs. If I trim my roll ~4 degrees right it seems to counteract the slipping. Is it possible to assign TWO axis' from my X52 to the rudder? Like the stick twist plus a turn knob for fine trim? I know I should just get some pedals. I have a driving sim setup with the pedals but I dont think those would work. Thx again
  3. Thanks for the explanation. I think I mostly get it. I noticed the rudder trim is off by default, and thats how I have been flying (twist stick rudder, no pedals) Thats gives me the control I need with FD ON. With FD OFF, flying in a straight line I seem to be always slipping right just a tiny bit after I trim (because no rudder trim) Is this a huge deal?
  4. I have a question about trimming while in Flight Director mode. With FD on I can still trim the plane, and the dampening is still on, but it wont 'pull' me to that trimmed point until I turn Flight Director off. So the 20% force to the controls if OFF at that point and is not 'pulling' me to my trim point. Its just trimming the attitude of the plane. Am I correct in understanding those above points? If I want to have free control, and free yaw while in Flight Director mode, should I still trim the plane periodically or just leave it? Say I am trimmed for level flight heading 180 degrees and I do a sharp turn and head 0 degrees, should I re-trim or just leave it? This is with FD on. Ive been experimenting with disabling the heading mode too, but it gets wonky. Should I still re-trim then with only pitch and roll dampening on?
  5. Hey Im still using an x52 but on Windows 7. I recently updated the drivers from the Logitech site and everything seems to work OK, has never crashed for me. The MFD goes haywire after 30 minutes or so in the KA50, starts showing like Aurebesh font and symbols like on the Predator's arm computer. Old drivers were the same, anyone have that happen before? Happy flying!
  6. Hello Any basics tips for dog fighting in the Dora? I feel like Im doing something wrong. Ive been trying to dog fight the Dora against an AI Average Spitfire pilot and I get zapped every time. The Spit is on my 6 instantly and Im not sure what to do. When I fly Spit vs AI Dora I at least feel like I have a chance. I thought the Dora was supposed to be a superior aircraft? Watched a bunch of tutorials and dogfight videos for the Dora. I understand the gunsight. Just learned about the MW-50 switch, is there anything else like that Im missing? Is the Spit AI just super good? When I fly the Spit I can take down AI Average Dora pilots easily. Thx!
  7. Thats a good point, you are right. I was always trying to do it with 4 bombers. The proper 'combat box' is 4 groups of 3 bombers. I just tried it with 3 bombers per group, but you get the same issue. Unless the groups are lined up at exactly the same heading in the editor, they wont spawn in formation. I tried manually lining up a second group as close as I could, and they spawned flying the opposite direction. I copy/pasted my first group of bombers to use as a second group and they spawned in formation properly.
  8. I just spent like an hour trying to figure this out. I had all the 2D models pointing seemingly in the same direction but it still didnt work. I only had two groups of 4, and my second group would always spawn facing the wrong direction. My solution was to create your first group of bombers, then copy/paste that so the new group is at the EXACT same angle as your lead group. You need to delete the waypoints and redo the formation stuff but that finally worked for me (i think) edit: nope still wont work, well it worked once. tried to recreate it and failed now it works again. its something LAST WPT
  9. Hey this is exactly the thread I was looking for.. thanks OP and everyone who posted their strategies!
  10. Ok, so there is no trick to it. Its just difficult. Thanks very much, thats all I needed to hear!
  11. Do you guys have any tips for finding targets on the ground? Turning labels on seems like cheating. I do my best to scan and have my wingman recon but finding hidden AA emplacements is tough
  12. Roob, thanks for the explanation and videos. Nice kill on that heli  I think Ive got the hang of it now. Also the manual (500 pages whoa), I have some reading to do
  13. Hello! Recently purchased DCS Black Shark, my first heli flight sim. Ive watched most of the producer note tutorials and have survived the first few campaign missions. Flying in the mountains is tricky... but all the autopilot controls on the KA50 are awesome. I love doing all the flying and shooting myself. I am finding the Shkval finicky and inconsistent when trying to put into bore sight/gun sight mode so I can point and shoot. Is gunsight mode AKA Head on Airborne target mode? It seems i have to hit the default button 'P' a bunch of times while my Shkval swings around like crazy. Im also having trouble consistently getting a 'TA' lock.. sometimes I get the countdown and nothing happens, sometimes I have to hold it? Or uncage an ATGM or my cannon first? My current method is Uncage shkval, switch manual targeting (C shows on hud), choose a weapon, hit Lock Target to get that 'TT' and the Shkval to hold position, then hit Lock Target again to get 'TA'. Sometimes the I cant get the 'TT' hold and I have to mash the button a few times or reset. What am I doing wrong? Any tips would be appreciated! :D
