  1. I think it looks really good. It felt weird at first, like a new pair of underwear. After flying with it for about an hour I settled in and its pretty nice I think.
  2. Go with the flow and keep in mind your momentum. Its like ice skating mixed with skiing but you can go up too. Im using 15% curves in my controls for pitch and roll, rudder is 0%. I can be pretty 'athletic' on the stick and not have anything bad happen. Look at what this plane can do irl, and you can fly it like that in the sim. (you dont even need the nice jazz tune playing)
  3. Yes, the yaw dampener is using up to 20% force to keep your nose pointed where you last trimmed. So you can turn away... but it will want to pull you back. If you want to point your nose somewhere else, hold trim, use your rudder to spin where you want, release trim. (or use turn to target mode, see below) Yes, its spinning because if the yaw dampener is off, its now putting 0% force into keeping your nose pointed where you last trimmed. It should normally always stay on. It wants to help keep you trimmed when it is on which is why its 'forcing you back'. When its off then ALL rudder control is on you which requires lots of tiny manual rudder inputs, which is why you are slowly turning a random direction. Trimming the rudder manually isnt going to stop that, because then your rudder is just set in one position and is not being stabilized by the AP which can move it automatically up to 20% to adjust for that slow spin perfectly. In a 'normal' chopper your hands and feet would be constantly moving slightly to keep the plane pointed straight, we have the autopilot to do that for us so we can target tanks and shoot missiles. You are mostly going to be manually scanning with the Shkval. If you are in a good hover you can just sit there and play with your weapons. You can use Turn to Target mode, it will automatically turn your chopper to where your Shkval is locked, overriding the yaw trim. So you can keep the yaw dampener on and no wanking is required. Once you get it under control its almost too easy. Route mode is more like a real heading or nav follow function, not just a yaw dampener/stabilizer. A navigation mode. Its a lot at first but keep at it. The autopilot does seem ridiculous, but once its clicks and you start getting it you will love it. It will fly itself if you just tell it how.
  4. You're welcome :) You should be trimming all the time. Hold trim whenever you turn, then release once you have your new heading. That way you arent fighting it. I dont use rudder trim, the real plane doesnt have it. You shouldnt ever really have to trim the rudder unless its very windy. The yaw dampener will take care of any spinning in a hover and keep you flying straight. The only time I turn the yaw dampener off is if I am about to die from a missile and I need 1000% control right now to do evasive maneuvers, or sometimes for landing/taxiing in a tight spot.
  5. You are using all 3 autopilot dampers? Pitch, roll and yaw ( aka heading) All 3 should be on for normal flight. Flight Director off. If the rudder is trimmed all the way left, your plane should be spinning pretty fast to the left. Something is up with your rudder I think. I cant recreate what you are describing, the spinning only happens to me in bad winds. Im doing Instant Action > Take off from Belsan and not changing any settings. You should be able to hover right away. Try going to Special settings for KA50 and turn rudder trim off.
  6. Ah neat I didnt realize it was the same article. The Take-Off magazine has a lot of nice pictures, and even a piece about our SU25. Is the cover picture from DCS lol?
  7. You can check the article in this thread about the KA50 operations in Chechnya. Says the chief of the unit was 'in love' with the aircraft, but also crashed after exceeding the limits. Just like the rest of us https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99742&highlight=chechnya
  8. Thanks! I think I figured the placement out. What does Alarm State RED do? They are on high alert or something? For anybody else, this website tells you exactly what assets to place for all the different SAM systems https://www.airgoons.com/w/DCS_Reference/Air_Defences This site has real life info/articles, plus it has some historical pictures of how they were actually set up. Really cool. http://www.ausairpower.net/sams-iads.html
  9. Thanks guys for your replies. So I guess the SU25's illumination bombs wont work either? Its a lighting issue? I know, right? I havnt ever had a problem with the ABRIS before either. The speed and distance numbers are jumping all over the place. I thought I maybe made a mistake in the mission editor, but it always works in daytime hours. Ill try the satellite thing or spawning my Shark in a different spot. Would starting hot/cold make a difference do you think? Thx again!
  11. Ive been having some weird issues during night flying that have never happened during day flights. Same exact mission I made in the ME, switched to midnight time and these issues start occurring. 1: The ABRIS goes crazy spinning around and showing my plane flying around the map when I am stationary at the helipad. Sometimes it goes back to normal once I lift off, usually not. 2: My weapons pippers (rockets pipper mostly) disappear from the HUD. I can still shoot but the pipper is gone until I reset my targeting. As far as illumination rockets, do they work right now? I can get them to sorta illuminate the terrain but when I look in my Shkval its shows no illumination at all. I tried to copy this method (its from 2015 granted) and it looks nothing like this at all, mine has hardly any light. I know the KA50 we have isnt supposed to be a night fighter, but we have these options and I am just curious if anyone has made them work recently. Thanks!
  12. I have a question about the AGM-45 Shrikes.. I am not supposed to get a tone change for SEAD attacks correct? It seems the P-19 radar truck DOES give me a tone change, but not the Fan Song radar. The ships I have tried dont give a tone change either. Thanks!
  13. I just discovered this mod, and wow! Very cool. Thanks to the guys who made this and released it to us for free. I have a lot to learn with this jet. Trying to make a SAM site to attack, does this look right? https://imgur.com/a/VNXgpY0 They can shoot at me, and I can lock on and shoot back with the AGM-45A. Just not sure if I need all that stuff or what it even does. I copied it from another mission. Thx again!
  14. Interesting. I was looking for videos and found this. Its a KA-52 shooting rockets. That is quite a bit of smoke.
  15. Try to trend on slow, I find its easier to accelerate if you are too slow, than to slow down if you are too fast. Also dont get too low too early, keep some altitude so you can you can use your vertical rate to help modulate your speed. I move my camera view upwards all the way so I can see over the nose better. I do this for takeoff and landing. I use my brakes, but its just bound to a button. I just tap it very lightly on landing. Its really easy to tip forward, I usually do it when I am taxiing. good luck
