  1. I thought they may have been a doctrine similar, in use, to guerilla warfare but applicable to air domination. @Emu: that's the point of this scenario. Being quite absurd it prevents people from rushing into each other by national pride and different historical point of view.
  2. I didn't say anything against Iraqi pilots. I just mentioned the fact that in most operations of the 90's the opposition was near zero when it comes to the air part. Calm down :-) If I correctly understood your scenario you assume since the beginning that all critical assets were destroyed. Let's go back in time a bit. Before all strikes had been done. Is it possible for a small airforce to defend it's airspace for some time. Let's say the USA attack Switzerland because something. They must have a plan to protect themselves for some time, otherwise it wouldn't even be necessary to have an air force.
  3. Thank you for your answer. I'm not sure if those conflicts are relevant. True they were under equipped but they were also lacking training, proper cohesion and good commander. I had in mind an other question than the one you answered: to what point training, preparation and doctrine can compensate for a technological weakness, and in this case the lack of medium range fire and forget missile.
  4. Hello, After reading an interesting thread about how to defeat a F-15 with a Su-27, I was wondering if air forces not having fox-3 in their store have doctrine or methods to counter foes with this kind of missile. I am interested in how air forces not as well equipped as the USAF or the Russian air forces could face those kind of opponents. Please don't talk here about the sim, just about real stuff. Thank you in advance for your answers.
  5. I'll look into it. Thank you all for your answers.
  6. Thank you for your answer. Currently that's what I am doing: group in zone and speed less than 1m/s (I assume it's a strict inferior so I can't set it to 0). I anticipate a problem for helicopters which can have those conditions without landing. If I check the altitude is it an altitude above MSL or above ground level ?
  7. Hello, I would like to create missions for DCS and therefore I am currently learning how to do so. I have successfully used a bunch of trigger in my missions but I didn't find anything about a "group has landed" condition. So how can I detect that ? I would like to use it to put an end to my missions and set the winner. Thank you in advance for your advice.
  8. @Zeus thanks for your answer. I think you could even say no one has a clue of what would be a real BVR combat. The few examples of successful BVR launch were done in very specific contexts. It may be a constant in conflict that no one knows what to expect before having faced it. If the sim is fun, challenging and realistic (to a certain point) then it is all right.
  9. There was quite a discussion on french forums about the video where you shoot rockets. In this video the gunsight was fixed, wasn't it ?
  10. I'm not sure it has been implemented because the on-board software is pushed to its extreme limits. I think I've heard that in order to carry some AG ordnance they needed to change the software by another version without some of the AA capacities. I don't know why they would do that since they are specific AG variants of the 2000.
  11. No, only the N, the D and the -9 version of the Mirage 2000 carry the AG radar. The confusion seems to come from the fact that in BMS the 2000 has the avionic of the F-16 (with a few tweaks).
  12. We may see the 530F but there is no chance to see a MICA on it (that would be very unrealistic). Then I don't really understand why someone would like to use the F variant of the Super 530 which is older than the D variant. For your information those are the weapons the FSX version of the plane has (same developers, at least for the model): As far as I know the LGB can be droped but they require to be guided by another plane which has a laser designator or by ground troops.
  13. I assume that it must be very difficult for the dev' team to correctly balance missile. There are so many unknown data ! It is nearly impossible to really estimate the efficacy of a missile: no one who has the data will tell the truth because the stakes are too high. Remember that it is not certain that the 120 behaves IRL better than a SARHM. I know the RAF has compared the efficiency of the 120 against the old Skyflash (not sure of the last name) and said that without the update target coordinates during the missile flight the 120 was worst than the Skyflash.
  14. Hi, I was wondering if someone had already explained somewhere how does the tracking system of missiles work in DCS (what is simulated, what is not...). If it has never been explained then is it possible to have explanations ? Thanks in advance for your answers.
  15. Some people here have quoted half the A/G arsenal of the French air force (and of other air force) asking if it will be available. That's why I was wondering what was going on, if they were an other announcement I had mist about the release of a D version. As for the Exocet and the ARMAT I am not sure they were certified for the S5 version. The Greek M2k seems not to be considered as a M2k C but as a special exportation version. It would seem strange to me if the French air force had paid for the integration of the Exocet on a plane they were only going to use in a A/A. Now I am curious about the range stated for the Super 530D in the DCS encyclopedia: 25 km is a bit short.
  16. Reading some of the comments here I'm a bit confused: didn't they say it would be a Mirage 2000C ? (I've even heard it would be the S5 version). If they are doing a M2K C then nearly no A/G weapons and no Mica (introduced with the -5 version I think) will be available because the real plane can't take them.
