Sounds like I will be adding Flims drawings to my shopping list then :) Thanks for the fedback, metalnwood, going to pm you shortly.
-
Thanks, I will keep it in mind, I am pretty committed to y2kiahs plans now, so will see how that progresses.
-
OK Guys thanks, will double-check with the cnc guy, plan is to do the cuts on Wednesday!
-
Im with you JCook, looking for that front panel cad file y2kiah :) ... and I wonder if there are plans for panel dimensions also? Looking forward to starting my build really soon!
-
I know this is a bit old, but my CNC guy had the same problem, so he scaled up based on the pilot holes being 1/8", and then to cross check he measured one of the slots that would be used to take 3/4" ply, and the numbers all looked right.
-
Hi Flim, the power of google and forum search failed me, I would love to see what you have. I am assuming that this is the pit you mean, but I could not find the plans. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=100754&page=3

Well based on the pricing of the solid (not the foam sandwich stuff) PVC sheets versus decent plywood the cost difference is massive, $600 vs $65, about 10 times more expensive so I will be using 3/4" plywood.
-
OK I have a CNC guy all lined up and its time for me to hand him some data so he can get cutting, I have looked at both Dimebugs and y2kiahs build plans and I just cant chose which one to go for. So, Dimebugs, y2kiahs or another?? Please offer advice if you have it, thanks!

Thanks acemark.. my stuff is still on its way to me so havent had a chance to connect anything yet.. but its good to know that they work!!
-
The CNC guy I plan on using gave me an offcut of the PVC to look at, it comes in the same thickness as plywood, and seemed quite rigid and lighter than ply. This was solid sheet, not the foam sandwich stuff. Still thinking about it, havent had a chance to get a price comparison yet.

thanks for info, I will talk with my CNC guy about it, hopefully he will know what a compression bit is!!
-
I just love these threads with lots of pics.. looks like its coming along nicely!
-
looking good HarSu.. these pit threads are like mainlining pure uncut inspiration....
-
RK, thanks for the pics, its very informative, and is adding to my piles of info for my panel designs... thanks, its looking good. The only thing I would change would be to change the blanking/masking plate so that the light did not bleed into the switch holes... but thats just me being picky!!

I figured being a plastic that the finnish would perhaps be cleaner?
-
I just had an interesting chat with the guy that will be doing my cockpit structure CNC cuts, and he suggested considering using PVC sheet rather than plywood. I would appreciate any feedback from the community as to the pros and cons between plywood and PVC sheet. i will be using dimebugs plans.

OK i must be missing something, the link is a pwm device isnt it?

LOL too late!!!

Thanks agrasyuk, I guess I jumped the gun a bit on the LEDWiz... I am not a programmer, not even close, that is not an option for me, so I guess it will be a phidgets board!!, what Phidgets board should I be considering, ideally to work out of the box? (EDIT) This is my first guess?? http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?category=26&product_id=1032_0

In this thread, http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=111675 One poster (agrasyuk) mentioned that my LEDWiz on its way to me from Groovy Game Gear is not easy to make work with Helios, So I wanted to make a thread about driving pit LED indicators, what are people using, and are there any good resources to help a simpleton like me get up and running. I am assuming at this point that Helios is the only option to drive DCS A10C pit indicator lights? OH, and I may have an LEDWiz for sale :(

I have in the past few days already gone over $1000!!! but they are must haves... so now I need to start to get a little more careful how I spend.. $10k?? dam that sounds like a LOT of cash... probably why most people spread the sim build over years rather than months... no reporters please... the wife is already telling her friends what I am up to, and I can see them look at her with pity in their eyes.... oh well, none of that will matter when rolling inverted for a CCIP drop on the bad guys, with a whisky in one hand and my hair on fire!!!!
-
And a hard hat for those spousal rolling-pin random attacks.....??

I am going to be using the white LED's from Groovy Game Gear, and the specs for those is LED Voltage 3.0-3.5v Current 20ma I will be using a 12v DC power source, so in the wizard I put the following in. Source Voltage: 12 diode forward voltage: 3 diode forward current (mA): 20 number of LED's : 100 (complete guess) However, whilst researching the LED I spotted that my LED's are coming with their own resistors anyway, so I will be using those...
-
Exactly Tiger... little electronics experience, I should wear a T-Shirt with that written on it!! Which reminds me... I am assuming I will still need to pop a resistor in series with each LED... correct?

Thanks guys, order for the combat pedals and cougar MFD's is on its way.. my bank account is gona hurt with these initial purchases...
