  1. Mike, grab the updated files from the dropbox, you should have the new engine and vertical stab details now.
  2. I don't have a release date yet. I can't say when, just when I'm happy with it. There are lots of small details like paint chips and things most people don't see at first glance that I have to be satisfied with before I release it.
  3. Work In Progress updates..... OLD A-10C for comparison... Current W.I.P
  4. Just messing around and experimenting....
  5. I found a real plane with camels, just to prove a point....
  6. If I decide to make the skin for purchase, I can modify elements before sending out the files. I haven't decided yet to the extent of which I will customize each skin for individuals, my first priority is getting it the way I want mine to look. Once I feel the skin is complete I will likely offer it in several versions, one being just the weathering mod so you can add your own unit logos.
  7. The camels are a little joke really. It is a nod to the days of WW2 but with a Desert Storm/Gulf War theme. The fighter aces of WW2 would mark their kills on their planes. This pilot did the same thing but instead of painting enemy tanks he used camels instead. It's something I can imagine a Marine pilot doing, since I'm a Marine and I think like that :)
  8. Mike and I have the same day job so he has become my beta tester.
  9. The planes I'm going off of were at an air show here in town and were very dirty. Actually more dirty than what I'm modeling. I took about 100 reference photos of them. The one you posted is too clean for my liking, it looks like a girl jet :)
  10. I'm working on weapons pylons and wings this week...
  11. When the time comes, I will probably release two versions. One is the weathered fictional Marine Corps skin, and the second will be just the weathered Photoshop layers so people can apply the weathering with their own insignia.
  12. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.877107908973052.1073741900.213475292002987&type=1
  13. ...working on specularity maps....
  14. Yeah, if anyone has a copy, I'm buying...send me a PM
  15. Sorry, I'm not going to post any more pics of the real A-10 until I make more progress on the sim. Maybe after.
  16. Spot wash? I don't think so, not these birds. They were rode hard and put away wet. They were from Davis Monthan. I dare anyone say my weathering is too extreme....look at these examples  Nice and dirty.
  17. I guess sometimes it's overlooked completely? Here's an A-10C tire...
  18. Well I've got good news and bad news..... The good news is I'm working on this project again. The bad news (for you) is that I got up close and personal with a couple A-10's last weekend at an airshow and I got lots more pictures to use for my detailing. And they were the dirtiest A-10's I've ever seen for me that's great. But it means you'll have to wait longer for the final product because I have lots more details to add. Here's some progress from tonight... I did a lot more on this side of the plane. If you look closely you'll see details like grungy finger marks, hand prints, and even a boot print to make it interesting. Here's some cool detail on paint chips... Even though I weathered the stock wheels, I redid them using the actual photos from the aircraft.
  19. OK OK OK, I have been away from DCS with other things, but everyone seems to want this skin so I will work on it this weekend and try to have it finished. Thanks for your interest.
  20. I'm not sure where the file is located that controls the canopy. I know some guys have tinted the forward sections like the real one but I don't know which file they modified. If you could point me in the right direction, I'll work on adding it.
  21. Well the short answer is "Not until I'm happy with them" and I'm kinda picky about how it looks. I can't say exactly when because I'm just doing it in my spare time but I hope to have something in the next couple weeks.
  22. Next piece on it's way...
  23. After all of the rivets are done, I will go back and selectively lighten some of them. I prefer them with a more uniform appearance though. To me, when the streaks are too random it looks more like there is a leak at that rivet. But with more uniform coverage, the appearance is as if the dirty air the wing is flying through caused the streaking instead. Such as would happen when flying your hog through the polluted air of Desert Storm with all the oil well fires. :)
