  1. Computer case showed up today...it's a beast. I can fit my other desktop case INSIDE it. Corsair 900D Monster case DVD Intel 4th Gen Haswell i7 4470K 3.5Ghz processor. Will be water cooled and overclocked to around 4.4Ghz Corsair 1200W power supply Asus Maximus VI Formula motherboard with water cooled VRM block, onboard 802.11a/c wifi and Bluetooth.
  2. Just looked up the 42" Vizio model I have here as my second monitor on my iMac and it's 6.5ms.
  3. My friend has 24 Vizio TVs in his sports bar and they have been on about 17 hours a day for the last few years and hasn't replaced one yet.
  4. Guys, since I started a pit build thread I'll just update everything over there to keep all the info in one spot. Ryan's A-10C Cockpit Build
  5. Thanks for the welcomes and advice guys...
  6. Thanks for the reply, I'll use that info! BTW, Vizio has a 50" LED for $650 with an 8ms response time :) http://store.vizio.com/e500ia1-1.html
  7. Actually, you're completely right John. I had forgot about how the TV hardware was actually drawing the additional frames.
  8. Thanks, I'm looking at triple 50" Samsung's or Vizio's. I'll keep the refresh rate above 120hz
  9. I'm still narrowing it down. It will be based off the D5 series pump. I'm thinking of giving hard acrylic tubing a try. I'll know more in the next couple of weeks.
  10. Thanks guys
  11. First parts are in...
  12. OK, I'm going all in. This will be my build thread. Design goals: Realism focused on details of the cockpit Working switches Analog dials and instuments wherever possible Backlit panels Immersive environment with large screens Modular design With the inspiration I have from the other builders here, I hope to be able to create something special.
  13. Thanks X93355, I will be posting pics of the computer going together on this thread starting tomorrow. That's when the case, motherboard, processor, power supply and DVD-ROM arrive. The rest of the parts will arrive later. Look for a pit build after the computer as well.
  14. Is there anything to be wary of when selecting a LED TV as your primary display? (Besides making sure its 1080) Are there refresh rate issues or anything I should be looking for?
  15. I hope they drop the price on the Titan or the 770. I'm just about to purchase new cards.
  16. Well if mine turns out as good as I hope, maybe we can build a second one for your house since you live two streets over.
  17. I'll start a new thread for the pit build.
  18. I agree, way more than needed. I am going to water cool everything so I don't want to have to redo things by adding a second card later or two more RAM sticks later. I plan on doing a full pit so I need to run the MFCD's and the CDU as well so I want to have enough headroom on the graphics side to push the FPS to everything. I guess the computer build is just like the pit build really...you want it to look nice and perform well, and half of the fun is just creating it, so that's part of the reason for the super computer build.
  19. My first build in a while. (My last build was a PIII 700Mhz) I don't have a computer for DCS currently so I'm building one up just for my sim. I want to build a pit so this is the first step. PC specs: Corsair Obsidian 900D case Asus Maximus VI ROG motherboard i7-4770-K 3.5 Haswell Quad Core Corsair 1200W PS 840 EVO 1TB SSD G.SKILL 32GB 2400 RAM Dual GTX Titans SLi all watercooled Monitors, undecided. I want three large screens but haven't decided how large yet.
  20. Hello, I'm new here so here is my first contribution. I put this up on YouTube, please let me know if it is helpful...
