Yeah..the SimHQ thing has been frustrating. I went over to the other forum though and read your message. I'll reply over there.

:shrug: It wouldn't be the first time a project changed mid-stream to meet the realities of the situation. I think most developers go out of the way to state that advertised features aren't promises. I've seen that comment time and again on these forums..that everything is a "work in progress" and "subject to change". I think you and others have a right to be disappointed for sure..I just see it as something new and different and it took me all of 5 minutes to get used to the idea. Those that have invested in skins, mods, and missions for LOMAC/FC obviously feel a bit of heartache over the decision, but I'm hoping this new direction will take us even further and give us even more. I'm an optimist though... ;) BeachAV8R

I'm still a little baffled at how people think they are "losing" something with this new product. As far as I know, you won't be required to send back your LOMAC or FC disks in order to buy the new product.. ;) So you can continue to play those if you desire the fighters or Su-25T respectively... Right?

To say "nothing else" other than the KA-50 is to not fully appreciate how much you are getting with the stand-alone product. Just the preliminary details that have been released thus far (twice the ground detail, a more powerful mission editor, and an unbelievable flight model to name a few) make this new product something to seriously consider. Once you see how incredible the avionics and flight modeling of the KA-50 is done..you will really be excited about the prospect of additional modules. BeachAV8R

The DCS concept is fantastic and is good news to serious simmers. I've always been a proponent of a core module with add-ons..and it looks like this is what they are shooting for. Instead of reinventing the wheel over and over again, get a base module and then concentrate on releasing super-high quality platforms for that base. Granted..the base can be updated and patched as well..but I'm really excited about the possibility of a series of study sim quality products. And Pilot and CP/Gunner AH-64...oh man... Looking forward to the evolution of this concept... BeachAV8R

Hehe..I took this photograph of an F-117 shooting a TACAN approach into Bakersfield, CA last week. He was 1000' below us as we were descending into the LA area... We paced him for about 3 or 4 minutes... Maybe he was flying to his retirement ceremony... ;) BeachAV8R

Good call. I was slightly limited on that mission due to the overcast ceiling above (a bit over 2000 meters)..but I could have been at the bases and steepened up my attack runs. Yeah..I finally figured out the half-flaps thing..it definitely aids in low speed maneuverability during low speed, high bank angle turns too. I definitely need to start shooting from further out and breaking away earlier instead of pressing in. Guilty as charged.. Yep..I keep forgetting to "move the jet" to make it harder for the AAA to track me. That is one thing that always impresses me when I see cockpit video of aircraft that are on attack runs...they are almost constantly jinking, even when just flying inbound and outbound from the target area. I think I remember one guy (might have even been John McCain?) writing a story about how he used to do all kinds of wacky things with his jet once he crossed over the beach in Vietnam. His logic was if he was the one doing the most bouncing around then the enemy gunners on the ground would pick an easier target... :D Good logic there... Thanks for the tips... BeachAV8R

Hey..at this point I'm ready to ditch canons all together and stick with the Vikhrs..they don't require me to fly too precisely.. :joystick: BeachAV8R

It's not a super-computer..I'd call it upper mid-range these days. P4 @ 3.4, 2GB RAM, 6800 GT PCIe (256MB)... I still get some stutters when I pour a lot of cannon shells into the ground..that can be aggravating when you are low to the ground and need to be as precise as possible. LOMAC looks great though..I love the environmental effects (lighting, rain, shadows..) Regards.. BeachAV8R

Hello! Frequent lurker...infrequent poster (at least here!)...but thought some folks here might enjoy reading the Su-25T training reports I've been writing as I learn this sim. I'm up to 12 missions thus far...each is downloadable and flyable (although they are pretty crudely cobbled together).
