One solution for insufficient space for 2.5.6(.59398) update installation
Fastbreak replied to Rabb's topic in General Bugs
Dual monitor problem with latest update 2.5.6(.59398) I have been flying the KA-50 with the latest update in multiplayer. I was in dual monitor mode (cockpit and shkval). I have experienced permanent black screens and interference. After a while DCS switched to the primary monitor and cockpit and shkval were solely displayed on my primary monitor. Switching back to 1 screen DCS worked flawless. NO problems when using windows alone. - latest windows 20H2 / build 19042.685 - latest NVIDEA driver 460.89 (gtx 1080ti) - fresh installations - no mods Has anybody experienced same or similar DCS display behaviour? -
One solution for insufficient space for 2.5.6(.59398) update installation
Fastbreak replied to Rabb's topic in General Bugs
FYI Hello Rabb, I had the same problem on Thursday. Repairing the update failed, too, finally I could not start the sim anymore. So I had to install DCS anew from the beginning (although I had Win 10 including DCS freshly installed some hours before). Worth mentioning I even was not able to use the deinstallation routine any more, so that I had to delete DCS manually :-( Just like you I was not not amuzed (... ) Best Fastbreak -
Good evening Weta43, I do not think the KA-50 is broken, either. It is just that I exclusively fly this module, so I have learned what does not perfectly work. And yes, I have alot of fun flying it. Everthing shiny now? No. I neither deem me a nitpicker with regard to issues, development times or module prices, nor I discredit the ED team with regard to their know-how. Rather I am of the opinion that it is quite a challenge to keep pace with progress in different hardware development that is not ED's intrinsic expertise. On the other hand, sometimes I am really annoyed with inaccuracies -like Shkval that is on the blink or ground that is shining through the floor (...)- altough they are all documented for quite a while. Is it a reason for whinning all along? No. Is it tolerable, if I very occasionally talk about it / give ED a tiny shove ? I think, yes. And now I turn to my Russion "grab bag". Best regards Fastbreak

Good evening fudabidu, No, I won't . I have been flying the KA-50 from the begining and have been reading through various pages and videos. I found a lot of inaccuraces meanwhile, so the Shkval behaviour. Most of them are listet in the KA-50 forum. I hope ED that is willing to find solutions to all of them and also have the know-how to adopt modern hardware resources* adequately to finally improve helicopter flying in general and KA-50 in particular. * DCS characteristic of receiving little percent more performance with most expensively state-of the-art hardware in 2020 is a clear indication of the need for a soon, fundamental, thoroughgoing technical concept change in DCS World and its modules - from my point of view.

Good evening Otter with additional R, Just reading in the forum I came across your comment. Your hobbies are appealing, but seriously take care to not ruffle your woman's feathers keeping yourself busy with DCS too much ... ;-) I hope you will enjoy DCS, flying MP (multiplayer) and meeting various "aeronautics addicts" here. Bye for now Fastbreak

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9

Using your mod(s) and reading all your comments: Great mod & proficient creator - thank you! -
Good morning ED team, The following behaviour of the PVI-800 (DCS 2.5.6.52437 OB) is visible: 1) Daytime The PVI-800 light seems to be on by default, because the numerical pad appears bright. If you now turn on cockpit lightning (panel right), the PVI-800 light seems to turn off, because the numerical pad becomes dark. 2) Nightime The PVI-800 light seems to be off by default, because the numerical pad apperas dark. If you now turn on cockpit lightning (panel right), the PVI-800 light remains dark. In both situations you are able to read the PVI-800 (daylight/ambient light), but you might feel like improving it in Black Shark 3 ? Thanks beforehand!

Hallo AstonMartinDBS, thank you for your feedback. I have just rechecked the lights on my side and you are absolutely right, they are working fine both in SP and MP - I'm sorry for my misleading comment. Thx ED, too.

Good afternoon, well, after the latest update it seems that the yellow lamps still do not glow when weapons are attached. I updated DCS yesterday evening and then had a look on the bug while flying MP (MultiPlayer). So what I am missing? :hmm: P.S.: I am inclined to believe that 'glasses' would be an improper answer
-
I can confirm this. From the Ka-50 manual, page 6-55 :book:: [lamps above] 8. Weapon readiness indicator. The four green lamps represent each of the four under-wing hardpoints. When a store attached to a hardpoint is ready to fire, the green lamp over the station will light. [lamps below] 9. Weapon presence indicator. These four yellow lamps beneath each of the hardpoints represent a store being loaded on the station. I do interpret these manual lines this way: If a hardpoint is not loaded with any weapon, NEITHER the respective green NOR the yellow lamp glow. If weapons are attached to a hardpoint, the respective lamp above has to glow green AND the lamp below has to glow yellow. If a hardpoint gets out of weapons in the course of the mission, the respective green lamp above has to go off AND the yellow one keeps on. Happy fixing

Hallo Looney, Thanks for your prompt answer that I just have read. When I move the edited file 'ViewportHandling.lua' to C:\Users\Fastbreak\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit the result will be: ABRIS is not working in cockpit either on external monitor. Shkval is working in cockpit but not on external monitor. Any other idea ?
-
:helpsmilie: Hi folks, I'm using 2 external monitors for ABRIS and Shkval. Unfortunatelly I can't disable ABRIS and Shkval in cockpit anymore. Procedure for their deactivation in cockpit up to this point: We used to edit ViewportHandling.lua file (under "...\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit") and add two dashes in line #81 like below: Code: purposes = {--render_purpose.GENERAL, But the main problem was that this modification couldn't pass Integrity Check. Does anybody of you know how to turn off cockpit viewports of ABRIS and Shkval in DCS 2.5.6 OB? Thank you very much!

Hello ED team, I would like to refer to a possibly lacking part in the new cockpit: Caucasus map - Instant action - Free flight English cockpit Wall panel DC ground power source lamp When DC ground power is on, this lamp will be lit (from KA-50 manual). Description There is no DC ground power source lamp any more with regard to previous cockpit. The KA-50 manual also shows only one source lamp, but it is the DC ground power source lamp. In contrast, several photographs of real KA-50s illustrate two lamps (for AC and DC). If it is supposed to be like this, please ignore this entry. Thank you and my full appreciation of your great work Fastbreak

Hello ED team, I found the following graphics glitch in the new cockpit: Caucasus map - Instant action - Free flight English cockpit Cockpit floor Description If I land the heli on the ground without gear (in one piece ), the grass will show through the cockpit floor. Thank you and my full appreciation of your great work Fastbreak

Hello ED team, I found the following inconsistency in the new cockpit: Caucasus map - Instant action - Free flight English cockpit Overhand panel, left side Windshield wiper switch Four position switch with three speeds and off positions. Description When I move the switch to its down position that is label FAST, the whiper slows down to the minimum speed of all three speeds. Should it be due to incomplete English labelling then I'm sure you are already aware of it - please ignore this entry. But...if wiper is running too slow, please get it up to speed Thank you and my full appreciation of your great work Fastbreak

Fastbreak replied to sleepycanuck's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Out of the blue Dear ED team, Please accept my many thanks for your efforts with the new KA-50 Cockpit, I do enjoy your work very much. Evidently I will buy the next KA-50 version that you are just working on! Best regards Fastbreak P.S.: Don't forget about the remaining tiny flaws -
