Sorry but I'm confused. Should I use the old version of Helios or the new Helios 1.4 for the F18 setup?? Thanks

The Podcast is great - keep it up! I have a suggestion for a topic. I've been involved with DCS for years but never multi-player. I'd be interested in hearing a discussion on getting started in multi-player either WWII or jet. What aircraft would be a good choice? What server? I know there is going to be a learning curve. But I'd like to hear from experienced MP players a good way to ease into MP to minimize frustration as much as possible. Just a thought guys! Cheers!

feefifofum I would say a semi-realistic unit, not sure if that makes any sense. A balance between real world rigours and a casual play free-for-all. I would prefer air-to-air with PVP being the majority. Thanks again!

I've been exclusively SP to date and would like to get involved with an online community to learn and of course have some fun. I'm in the EST zone. I have no idea about online servers or units and looking for recommendations. Also for modern air combat what would be the suggested AC for some one in my position. Thanks!

Wow! I'm glad I found this thread! I spent hours, trying to figure out what the heck was wrong. I had wired headphones and then bought wireless and had no sound from DCS. Sound was coming from everything else. The cfg file worked in my case also.

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious but I how do you track a VOR radial?

Thanks for sharing! On the TMS you've mapped TDC to HUD, etc. I can't find the corresponding line in the control setup for any of these?? Also how do you use a modifier to switch to select Boresight, AACQ, WACQ, VACQ? Thanks! -
Beautiful!!

Helios A10C and OpenBeta 2.5
CrackerJack replied to CrackerJack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks CaptZeen. I verified that all files were in the correct location. After a lot of investigation I found the issue. I opened the LOZ hpf file to verify the monitor sizes and I noticed that Helios had the wrong location for my 2nd monitor. My top monitor is 3440x1440 and the bottom monitor is 1920x1080. The location for the 2nd monitor should be x=760 and y=1440 however the location in the hpf file was x=872! Which explains why all my outputs were offset left to right. I've no idea why this happened. I have verified that Win 10 monitor scaling is 100% on both monitors. My guess is that this is a Win 10 issue of some sort since I never had this problem with Win 7. I tries to reset monitors again still same result, I also tried to enter the correct x location but Helios would not run. In the end I simply entered the display locations using the x offset I found in the hpf file. I just wanted to pass this on in case anyone else had a similar problem. -
Anyone running Helios A10C in OpenBeta 2.5? I have a Main 3440x1440 and Touch 1920x1080. So my combined is 3440x2520. I've followed the setup instructions. For the Export.LUA I have used the one found on CaptZeen's website. All of the rotary dials function correctly!! The issue is that the MFCDs, RWR, CMSC, and CMSP... are displayed but are all offset to the left and not centered. My Monitor.LUA is below. I have tried adjusting the x= values but the position does not change. In the DCS settings I have 3440x2520 and the monitor LUA selected. I'm running windows 10. Any ideas suggestions? I've been away for a while and want to install 2.5 OB. I currently have 2.1.1 and 1.5.6 installed. I would like to have only 2.5 OB installed. What is the best way to go about this? Thanks

All the responses are great! Thanks for the help, I've got plenty of stuff to chew on, cheers.

I'm not familiar with the mission editor. I'm learning the 109 and I'm looking for a mission where I can fly against an easy target. I've tried the 1v1 against the P51 but I seem to have no chance against the AI with my level of experience. If anyone has created or can point me to some good training missions for a novice that would be appreciated.
-
This would be my first WWII aircraft. I took a quick look at the user made missions and there is not all that many available. So my suspicion is that the majority of people fly the 109 multi-player?? If that's the case is there a suggested MP server for novice flyers where I can learn and still have fun as opposed to getting smoked every couple of seconds? Cheers!

I'm looking for feedback from those of you who wear prescription glasses. I've come across the following company that produces prescription lenses that fit in either the rift or vive. http://vr-lens-lab.com Even though my frames are not large from what I've read and watched its not easy using glasses with a VR head set so the VR Lenses look like an ideal solution. If you have glasses how is it working? If you use VR Lenses what has your experience been? Thanks!

I'm sure most people have tried the Instant Action Dog Fight mission. This mission is at low altitude and not at the Spit's best fighting altitude which is much higher 20Kish according to my understanding. I'm new to this so I could be wrong. I've been finding it difficult to manouver and keep speed up to match that of the opposing 109s. How much of a disadvantage is the Spit at when at low altitudes 10K or less. I'm also wondering for the experienced piston pilots are you getting easy kills in this mission or is it a challenge?

Gunnery Training - AC Visibility
CrackerJack replied to CrackerJack's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Thank you for the suggestion. Gave it a try and works for me until there is a better solution offered by ED. -
This is the first WWII AC I've flown. Just tried the gunnery training mission. Couldn't get a hit on both planes the first pass. After that I had no luck spotting them. I don't know if its me but it seems to be extremely difficult to locate opposing AC. I have the model set to Large in Gameplay options and still can't see a dam thing. Turned on Labels and of course I can see all the text but unless you are almost on top of the AC the are just a spec. I'm playing at 3840x1440 res. I've also tried zooming in. I just watched some of the dog fight videos posted in the Spit thread and I'd swear the opposing AC appear larger than what I'm experiencing. Any tips?

Thanks for the quick responses. @Davison I have the Warthog what did you bind the slider to?
