In these 1 v 1 WVR exercises the most important aspect is the pilot. The Rafale is no doubt a capable turning jet - but have seen nothing to suggest the F-22 isn't the equal or better than anything in this area as well. Notice how they were using HUDs as well which was possibly a requirement of the exercise - Stick an F-104 in there with a good pilot he could win against anything with a bit of luck

Upgraded DCS World to 1.2.8 today and started a quick mission with the Su-25T While on the ramp had a look around at other jets - the LANTIRN models are flying a bit ahead: this defo wasn't there in my 1.2.7

and its turn radius is just amazing - surely that's all that matters in aerial combat :megalol:

Those DOTE figures unfortunately are very misleading without all the other required factors

The reason you are getting this bit wrong is that you are trying to compare basic wingloading!! Over the weight range F-35A is comparable to the F-16C B50 (The F-35B/C have very different figures!) - However you CANNOT compare old airframe design concepts like the F-15 with newer like the F-35 using basic wingloading. Here is why - the F-16/F-22/F-35/Su-27 derive a lot of lift from Vortex and lifting tails that the given wingloading figure doesn't take into account - this is what can give them an advantage in certain parts of the flight envelope. The Sprey video is a joke - and yes people who have limited knowledge on the subject are easily fooled!. After seeing the newest release its part of an agenda - F-35 still conforms to Boyds theories at the end of the day!!

Gripen seems a cost effective buy at least & probably ties in with the R-99 AEW system better.

Well - probably more true for limited A-A type scenarios over friendly lines. Flying the other side of the line you have no control where the multiple Fire control radars come from - unless you fly NOE (but probably no point having a low RCS if you have to do that).

Yes - its potentially an average taken from multiple angles considered from the entire sphere. Comparisons on forums are normally argued over frontal aspect speculation only - easy to see the confusion.
