Yeah anything over a $1000au (Inc shipping) coming into Australia well seazed at customs and we have to pay the 10% GST plus a handing fee. You'd have to do 4 shipments to get it all in. Then you have to get it back if anything is doa. For stuff like this it's just not worth it. GaZ, drop the sound card and the network card, pick higher speed ram and switch the 2 ssd for a single 500gb M.2. I'd also try for an 850 watt PSU got that right as there is alot of power there especially if you want to OC. Power fluctuations are the biggest cause of instability in PC system's. Shop around a bit more mate, some of those prices are bit high. Cheers Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk -
Ryzen 5 1600X or i5 7600K for DCS

/ Sad Face ! I won't rehash my thoughts in another thread that ED really needs to fix this or at least provide some sort of time line when we can expect it. Understand that everything changes, but at least we'd have a rough idea so we can plan a bit better. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk -
I'm fairly certain I can match that RF2 spec and keep it under your original $3K limit. Give a day or so and I'll spec up a system for you.[emoji1] Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Ryzen 5 1600X or i5 7600K for DCS

This is why I think the 1900X will be a good place to be. If DCS moves to multithread capability you can upgrade to the 1950X. If they fix SLI then get a couple of 1080ti's. Either way your ready. With Ryzen you need to pray on a new chip and the lane limit basically rules out SLI. Intel are unfortunately just too expensive when you move to their 44 lane capable chips. Hi GazAce, Where abouts are you, I'm about 2 hours north of Syd and would be glad to help. A little over 25 years building systems, plenty of experience, also have a great wholesaler to supply parts. PM me if you want. Cheers [emoji3] Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Ryzen 5 1600X or i5 7600K for DCS

Threadripper 1900X should beat the Ryzen 7 chips. Same number of cores and just a small price increment over the Ryzen 7, but TR will have better XFR boost. It would also benefit with the 64 lanes as opposed to the 20 of the Ryzen. Heat I can deal with as I already have water cooling rig that just needs the blocks changed to suit. -

33-DFTC, yep have watched that. But it's a classic non-committal response. What are we supposed to do in the mean time with generations of tech coming and going between when ED hints that something might happen and when it actually does happen. I'm being patient.... but boy, its not easy. Would it kill ED to put out a timeline? Even if its something like within the next 2 years X will be available. Within the next 5 years blah will be available. Yeah I know 'everything is subject to change', but at least we'd have an educated guess rather than just taking a stab in the dark. -

Yeah we know they are still working on it. This is all we ever hear is 'We are working on it'. Just maybe they should refocus and stop fixing how icons look on the hud and get the these two features working. I can't imagine how unbelievable DCS would look on triple 4K screens with our PC's screaming their head off praying for relief. I'd drop $5K right now on a threadripper build with twin 1080Ti's if DCS would work with it. I'm at 4.5 years with my current rig and every 5 i go big an upgrade as high as I can. All we need is an indication of where its going to go instead of us playing guessing games. I dropped a 1000 bucks on a second Titan for my current rig for DCS 2.0, but that was clearly a bad move. I'll probably get threadripper anyway, but it would be nice to know its definitely going to be worth it for DCS. -

Yeah, but that's the problem, isn't it... ED never say much. For months people asked for an indication of what would be done about that, and 2 years later, still nothing. Just yourself saying the mainstream had moved away from SLI so it was unlikely. Yet manufactures still make every piece of hardware capable of it and many mainstream games still support it. Multi core CPU's have been around for 10 over years now, and the industry is clearly going one way.. more cores. Yet we are using a fantastic engine that is completely bound by either graphics processing or multi CPU processing. Ether of these would allow a far improved experience and finally give 4K and proper run enabling full 60 FPS. But alas we miss out on this too. DCS is not mainstream, it's far from it. It is quite literally one of the most complex and brilliant looking simulations I've ever experienced. I love it. But ED doesn't make it easy to love. Most of ED's customers are literally niche users at or striving for the top end of the spectrum, right where the latest mutli-core processors and SLI tech is aimed at. We buy the top controllers, pedals and VR head sets and own top end systems to run it all. You yourself have overclocked significantly to get performance. It really is time for ED for get with the program and support these features, new modules and maps will only carry the business so far. Proper support for something like threadripper and just 2 way SLI should see 100 fps capability on three 4K monitors..... the engine is capable of it if they would just tap into all the horsepower the systems have today and will have in the future. -

Great. We get a new EDGE engine and then find out it doesn't support SLI properly and ED are not going to correct the issue. Now we are hearing that it wont support multi thread CPU's either and is not likely to without a major rewrite. Is there any modern technology ED is going to support in the next 5 years ? After spending several hundred $$ buying aircraft and several thousand on equipment, forgive me if I'm feeling a little duped. -
I have a 30 sec video of my latest attempt. Its 9.7 MB. Happy to email to anyone who care to take a look. I think it proves how it's broken. The boom moves down to make the connection and then it's fire cracker time. I don't think I'm unstable or too far from where I'm supposed to be.

I'm sorry probad if I've done something to upset you... but with all due respect I've been flying sims since the days of the C64 and ACE. My current pilot has just over 253 hours in the 15 with some 162 landings. I believe this is sufficient enough for me to say I have more stick time than dick time. I don't post much on the forums because I don't feel the need to. I like to go away and figure problems out on my own. Comments like yours, just make real paying people want to stay away from the forums. But in this case wincherstadelta1 is right. Ever since 1.5, AAR has been a complete disaster. 1, Aircraft don't detonate like a New Years Eve firecracker with a bump on the boom at half a knot closure rate. You will incur damage, but the firecracker stuff is just shit! 2. I'm reasonably certain someone around here has actual boom time and will confirm that you shouldn't have to sit perfectly stable, with no flight corrections, dead in the middle of the boom zone for 3 full seconds before a boomie will plug you. 3. Anyone who thinks AAR currently in the F-15 is a piece of cake or trivial, I call "bullshit", and YouTube videos flying inverted hookups don't prove anything except that the flight modeling is wrong. 4. AAR should be achievable without the player being some kind of immortal god. 5. Any paying customer of this system should have the ability to come and post their experiences without being attacked.

I've spent hours trying this on and off. The last attempt tonight, I was lined up and a bit behind, just edging forward slowly and the boom touches the top of the AR receptacle and boom, I explode yet again. The boom can't plug for shit. AAR is busted, especially when other pilots tell you this is way harder in DCS than in real life. I'm not wasting any more time trying to make this work.

Hi Jcomm, I recently tried something similar to this. After a full format and reinstall, I ran the web installer, but did not run the program, or log in, or finish any online downloads. I then copied the 20 GB of the back up image I had taken from the old build (I also copied my Saved Games DCS profile back). All modules were unregistered prior to the back up and the folders were all in the exact same location with same name and security settings. Failed dismally. CTD every time I tried to start the program. Ended up re downloading the lot. Whats worse, I had 1.5.2 and 2.0.1 installed. 60GB of data to download before I had everything back. For a game this large, there really needs to be a backup process available. Cheers HarpO

Is there a way to set the F-15 HUD color in DCS 1.5 /2.0 ? I found an old thread that referred to a SU-27 HUD section in a file in the \config\view folder, but the files in there no longer have any references to any HUD settings. It would be great if we could have a file in our saved games folder to cover this, not really a fan of modding the source files. Having to press Ctrl + H 6 times for yellow at the start of every mission is painful... and burns precious seconds when dropping into a hot scenario. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers HarpO

Gents, Will SweetFX run with 1.2.9? also would using the custom textures made by TOBY23 run with this version? Looking to improve graphics as I have plenty in the tank with my hardware. Cheers JH
