The unit VFRSG is reviewing is the fully loaded MR version, those MR cameras are really HighQ, therefore do add some weight to the HMD, I have ordered the TITAN ET/HT version so hopefully weight will not be a major issue, but good to see other Headset straps being tested.
Yeah, I’m not that worried about it bc I only got the eye tracking one…and I’ve been lugging Pimax headsets on my face since 2017, so I’m used to not feeling like as a feather.

VRFSG is posting a video soon using the stock strap with Apache Strap and Counterbalance weights on the back. He’s also testing it with a Bobo VR strap (halo style). I think this will help to clarify options to make it more comfortable for long sessions if one finds it front heavy (it is, no way around that, it’s obvious from the design alone)…he’s long said it’s front heavy to him and not comfortable for long sessions, even though the final version is improved from prior pre-production versions he had.

Give @Gun Jam the spoon pic. Otherwise it’s a fraud and I can’t be convinced otherwise.

oh nice.
Im wondering how many weeks its going to take to get them once they start shipping?
They are saying July-August for those who ordered initially at launch, as of today they've said future orders (yet to be placed) will have a shipping timeframe of September to October.

Is your VR PC a i7-9700k and a 1080ti with a Pimax5K+ or does your signature need updating?
My signature is 4-5 years old, as I've been completed away from DCS (sim racing) for that long and haven't been on the forums or updated the forum signature to reflect the latest parts.
I have a 4090 now, 3090 before that, and will have a 5090 as soon as I can purchase one.
Edit: Updated the signature now
Once I get the 5090 I plan to do a total PC rebuild to add a 7900X3D CPU or whatever is the fastest things comes out between now and then.

When (date) did you get on the wait list? I haven't got an email yet and I was on like day 2 or 3 I think.
Signed up the day it went live (October 5th), but did not make the first 100 list....but got my notice for ordering on Saturday still, so likely wasn't too far behind.

Ordered a Visionary (Eye Tracking) yesterday. Looking forward to trying it out.

Looking to buy this stick base, if anyone has one that they aren't using. I am located in the US. Please send a message here or a DM if you're interested.
I am open to also purchasing the F16/F18 RealSim of TM grip as well, if that helps to get a deal done, but not requiring a grip. Happy to purchase base and grip, or just the base.
Thanks!

Is XP10 supported? Or just XP11?
i was recently asked this question and figured this was the best place to ask the actuals SSA developer. Thanks!

call me an idiot, I just pulled the trigger on the pre-order....
Proud of you, brother.

So, Connection does or does not charge you in full (not just the authorization that falls off, I’m talking the actual charge) when you complete the preorder? Or that only occurs when it ships?
Don said when it ships, folks on Reddit said otherwise. Figured I’d ask for clarity here.

Good to see it works with TM grips...now if it can handle a 15cm extension, you can count me in.
Completely fine with $1100 price tag.

Silly? I Have a WH grip and MCG pro and prefer the MCG when flying the A-10, if that tells you anything. Part of that is the gunfighter gimbal, but my WH is on a WarBRD - so it's no slouch.
The WH is heavy, and people equate that to quality. Ironically lighter is better, as the gimbal requires less damping to prevent oscillations (which is actually silly, as no real plane stick oscillates from spring). The MCG can be set to perform identically as their software is great. TMS location is an analogue slew, which is a bit odd at first but i've got mine set to create an additional button press at 50% deviation. Short press, long press, doesn't matter. And you get two additional buttons right of the face, the master mode is a 5-way hat (all are 5-way actually), POV has a press as well (great for VR center), or can be used to switch between a POV and relativer axis, functioning as an actual trim to the X-Y Axis.
Otherwise everything is in the same place, it's just massively higher quality with extra buttons. I don't fly anything eastern except occasional KA-50, but the f-18 is such as simple grip I don't know why I'd "downgrade" my available keybinds, especially in VR where hunting for keyboard sucks. In the hornet, for example, i can slew with my throttle (delta sim mod) or grip, whichever I feel like. The true analogue is much, much smoother viewed on joytester, so much so that I am kicking around ways to use it in the a-10 as slew. Realsimulators f-16 grip is a different beast, particularly with f-16 coming. Gunfighter might end up as dedicated f-14/helo... not sure.
Unfortunately I think you guys are going to be disappointed if you're hoping for TECS in Q3. F-14 grip in Q3, but TECS is a ways off yet. I wish it weren't, but fast VKB is not.
You quoted a post of mine from February, where I quoted what VKB had stated at that time. It’s no surprise to me that VKB won’t have it out in Q3 if this year...hell, I’d be surprised if it was out by Q3 of 2020, personally.
And yes, some find it silly to use a Russian grip with a NATO jet. Some, not all. So, thanks for providing your opinion, and it’s safe to say you fall on the other part of that “some”.
FWIW, a number of people have said the buttons on the Hornet grip feel better than the MCG. Go figure. Still, none of them come close to the OTTO buttons I have on my throttle.

Just wondering, IRL:
1) what is the recce event switch used for?
2) what is the Sensor Select Depress used for?
3) why is Weapon Select right not used instead of down?
4) why does the TM Hornet stick have a 2 button + push switch when it would seem that the real Hornet doesn't?
Just curious!
1) Turns HMD On/Off when the Knob is on, otherwise in the real thing I believe it's used for recon purposes
2) IFF's targets in later Lot Hornets and Super Hornets, older versions don't have the press
3) Right selects 120's, it's left that's not used in the real thing - Fwd = AIM7, Aft = Gun, Right = 120, Down = AIM9
4) For game purposes, a nice addition to allow more functionality on the stick when compared to other grips like the WH, etc.

It isn't ''scientifically sound''. And before you post that same ''study'' for the 9 millionth time we've all seen it before. Yeah, it was used in 1990s sims, good for them.
None of it matters because they deliberately removed it and have said it isn't coming back. But by all means, go ahead like this hasn't argued ad nauseum before and you're the first one to make these arguments @@

I think when you try dogfighting you will see a huge benefit to this headset as instead of having to rotate your head 360 degrees in a cv1 & pull all your neck muscles you can just use your eyes.
Doesn’t the Index still have a pretty narrow FOV compared to the wide options like Pimax?

Per the title, I received my new Thrustmaster F/A-18 stick grip today. I love it. The only problem is that I had to remove my VKB MCG Pro stick to try it out. Even if the adapter VKB sells would work, I think this grip is way too heavy for the MCG Pro, especially with the stick extension installed.
The look/feel/functionality of the grip is as good as I could hope. The problem is using the Warthog stick/gimbal after having flown with the VKB stick for so long. It is a very big difference in the fell, particularly near the center where the stick is stiffer and more clunky.
Was the only reason I cancelled my VKB order and kept the VPC order — much stronger springs to hold up to the Warthog (and now Hornet) grips.

Both the TM website and Amazon still say July 25, but I’ve seen a number of different dates across other sites.
I’m still banking on the TM/Amazon date being the best estimate for now.

There is no animation of the joystick in the Hornet yet, that's correct.

Based on this post from Wags, there is a good chance:

Interestingly... we've had the VR Optimization since May
My VR experience with the last two updates was rather strange. On the initial 2.5.5 patch my VR performance was phenomenal. 45fps on the deck, terrain shadows didn't impact performance at all, no double-vision of moving objects. Now on the second patch of 2.5.5 and my VR performance has reverted to about 35fps on the deck, terrain shadows murdering my frames in a dark alley, and anything that moves gets rendered twice.
Same. Not sure if they “took it back out” or what, but I definitely saw a bump two patches again and now nothing on the most recent one.
In any case if what I saw two patches ago was the full optimization...not that great. Definitely not a “50% boost”, for me at least. Impossible to really project that though without knowing all the facts.

New SimHaptic for bass shakers works great!
in PC Hardware and Related Software
Posted
I have 9 bass shakers (listed below), will SimHaptics support all of them being in use? I also have 3 or 4 other smaller units that I've been too lazy to install, but I'm mostly just looking to confirm I will be able to use them all before I mess with starting the 7 day trial. They are ran through two discrete soundcards (SoundBlaster X3's).
