  1. In general all planes could be interesting, if they were made well BUT:

    There is something going wrong in DCS.

    1. Sometimes the focus is on irrelevant and unimportant planes. We have a Hawk but no F-16, we have a C-101 but no Tornado, we have a Mi-8 but no Mi24 and the list of "sidekick planes" (and choppers) in the road map is long. I know a lot is classified but it doesnt help anyway. DCS is much too great, to let it sink in triviality.

    2. Another thing is the question, how should a credible mission look like with such planes? What has an argentinian plane to do in caucasus, Nevada, Strait of Hormuz or Normandy (in WW2)? An example to make clear, what I mean: Meanwhile we have three WW2 planes but still no map or enemy fighters (except the planes itselfs, yeah!) or ground units for them and the Mig21 has still no good opponent. So we have a little bit WW2, a little bit cold war and so on. Would another plane like the IA 58 Pucará raise the missing coherency. I guess not.

    Of course, I know, its not your fault, RAZBAM, but with a good choice for planes you can pave the way for DCS.

     

    I really think, its time to fill the existing szenarios with more content to make them more reliable, before starting a new one. How about a F-4 Phantom as opponent to the mig-21 instead? Or any other plane which fits better into the flash points, we have.

  2. I very much hope so. I wonder if ED are having problems finding a suitably Teutonic voice actor

     

    The funny thing is, that the teacher in the dora tutorials is a german. The extrem german accent while speaking english is easy to immitate, but there is no doubt, when he says EZ42 or somthing. So I wonder, why didn't they let him speak german.

    This is one the best things with DCS. It's expensive, but all content is cumulative. Even the A-10C (5 years old) is still evolving and one of the most important planes in DCS. So you are never wasting money. Its just getting bigger and bigger.

  4. I have some questions off map optics.

    I thought the entire normandy map will be a module like the nevada map. But I read many contradictory statements about this project and I didnt find reliable answers yet.

     

    Will this map be part of DCS World or will it be a seperate software?

    Will the WW2-planes, I already purchased, be compatible with the map, if DCS WW2 will be a seperate software?

    Will this map be for free? Sounds like a stupid question, I know, but I read this and I can't imagine

  5. If the depicted season is spring, why would they need to make much darker trees? I'm looking at trees through my window as I'm writing this and nothing seems wrong here.

     

     

    Its not about the color of the leaf itself. Its about the structure of trees. This is hard to describe to me, but I try. The leaf is located in a way, that the entire tree absorbs more light, than an area of grass. The leaf shadows itself. If you compare the color of a single leaf with a single culm, there is no big difference. But a entire tree is definitely darker than grass.

    with the last screenshot I realized once again, that you like to drift to make too bright trees. As it was also the case on caucasus map. Thanks to modders for their effort to fix that.

    The Trees are darker than the ground. Much darker.

  7. I bought the Hawk back in Nov 2014 and had downloaded it when it was released initially before it was on module manager. Now when I go into the module manager I only have an option to buy. Is there something I need to do to get my original purchase of the Hawk linked with my account? Looking forward to trying out the new EFM...

     

     

    When I had this issue I just restarted the game, logged off and logged in again and it worked. Maybe not in this order.

     

    If this doesn't help, you maybe should make a request to the support team.

    maybe some of you, with a Thrustmaster Warthog already looked for some modifications. For sure you realized, that the spring characteristics is nearly linear. Even with a 10cm extension this feels a bit unnatural. So I thought about to replace the spring, but not only with a softer one. What I need is a spring, with a very low spring rate near center/origin and a high spring rate in higher deflection. So I need a spring with progressive spring characteristics.

     

    For illustration take a look on this chart. I need the green one. Blue is standard.

    The question is, where to get it? Are there maybe available modifications, which I didn't find?

    How can be altered the distance where the 3D forest is not rendered anymore? Thank you.

     

    I pointed at the line of disappearance that moves as you zoom in or close in... in these two pictures:

     

     

     

    Set up the rendering distance of 3D-models could mess up the performace. To avoid this ugly perimeter you can do the following.

     

    In \Config\terrain you will find config-files, called low, medium, high, ultra and extrem. Choose the file which related to your ingame distance setting and open it. Inside the file is a line subforest = {..., ...};

    Raise these values to raise the renderdistance of the subforest texture. With a good subforest texture the hard transition almost disappears.

  10. The forest base textures can be altered at shader level, you'll have to make an edit to Subforest31.fx in Bazar\shaders\terrain\shaders31 folder then give the transparency a negative value (edit in Notepad++)

     

    line 75: data.fAlpha = min(opacityColor.a, diffuseColor.a) - 0.5;

     

    Note that I've used the - 0.5 in bold only as an example value, you'll have to lower or raise the amount to get the desired level of opacity that you want.

     

    In my mod package I've been adjusting this file so i can get a much darker level for the forest bases, this helps with the distance blending as the trees stop rendering

    line 68: data.vDiffuse = diffuseColor.rgb - 0.08;

    Maybe I understood something wrong, but shouldn't a negative value lower the opacity? I inserte a positive value and now it works to me. Thank you very much.

     

    Thats what I am about to do.

    I try to make a sub forest texture, with single trees in it. That way I hope to make the forest look a bit more natural and detailed.

    I'm running no shadows on trees (original author - DTAC), but the EDM files may shed some light on where to find alpha.

     

    I linked the .zip with Tree files. Tree EDM's have been modified for no shadows.

     

    Hope this helps.

     

     

    Alright I will look it up. But I think thats something different. These Shadows are effects. I care about a texture.

     

    Btw, I don't agree. I tried the no tree shadow mod an it has almost no effect on fps. But that might depend on the GPU.

  12. Hello,

     

    I need the help of a modder.

     

    As you may know, have all forests a slight darker ground texture right under the trees. This texture shall make the forest thicker. At least optical - you have a dark forest, but less opjects to manage.

    The file name of it is "r_for_t.tga.dds" and you can find it in all season texture zip-archives.

     

    The texture looks a bit transparent, but it isn't. The opacity of this file must be managed by any config-file, because this file has not transparency in it.

     

    I need to know, what config file or script line do I have to change, to raise this textures opacity.

     

    Heres a pic. I marked the texture that I mean, to avoid missunderstanding.
