looks cool, I just don't understand how does one operate rudder pedals while sitting on a rolling chair -
Formula drivers get Gs in different axes than pilots, in axes where Gs have less effect (left-right and forward-back, not up-down like in an aeroplane)
-
I heard that the seat is in reality inclined because they couldn't fit it in in 'normal' angle and they made up the whole 'G tolerance' story later. Could be wrong, who knows :)

That application just takes formula for standard temperature decrase (0.65°C each 100m) and calculates from that. However, that's not how it works in real life and apparently also not how it works in DCS, where there's just set stratospheric temperature (-57) at set altitude (11000m) - so the decrease is not as linear as in ISA. I'd agree using the standard formula in DCS might be nicer, but it's still just an approximation.

I touched this topic in my post in L-39 thread (and others' posts after this), and I cannot agree more: lights are basically the biggest visual issue for me in DCS right now and I really want to hear that the new DCS version will fix this :)

Thanks but I already fought my battle with TARGET yesterday and finally won - everything mapped nicely as I hoped it would be. Only disadvantage is that I have to run TARGET software before I start DCS.

Is upgrading GPU and RAM enough?
L-39beeratros replied to L-39beeratros's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think I'll upgrade in two stages: - first stage will be new GPU - probably 1070ti or 1080 later this year (with my current setup - 3.2 GHz "turbo" CPU being bottleneck shouldn't be THAT bad, or will it? - second stage new motherboard, CPU and RAM next year... -
Thanks, looks like I'll have to see what's that TARGET thing about :)

fullHD for now, but I want this upgrade to be future-proof so 4K is very possible in future -

Thank you very much! looks like I'll wait for 2.5 and user experience with it. I'm not really into overclocking but maybe I won't have other choice... -
Hello, I recently got my Thrustmaster Warthog throttle and I'm having a hard time setting up buttons for L-39 actions. For example: the throttle has great toggle for air brakes, which works just as in real L-39 (one way spring loaded, other way fixed, middle position retracted) but I'm unable to map the middle position for retracting (while trying to assing the middle position DCS options don't register anything), and it's the same with some other switches - for example the 2 switches in bottom left corner of throttle body would serve nicely as pitot heat switches, however again I'm only able to map 1 position to action, not the other one. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any advice!

Hello, I am in need of an upgrade on my PC for DCS, however my budget isn't really that big. I am aiming for at least 60 fps on highest possible settings for given setup, 1080p (for now, maybe 4k in next year). My question is, would new GPU and RAM (it's cheap) be sufficent? I was thinking about GTX 1070TI or 1080 and 32GB DDR3. If I had big budget I'd also get a new motherboard with CPU (probably i5-8600K) and 32GB DDR4 RAM, but i'd be happy to not have to make this big upgrade. My setup now: i5-4430 (4 x 3.0 GHz) Gigabyte R9 270X 2GB Asus H87 MB 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz 500W PSU 27" 1080p 60Hz screen I am now around 30fps on low-to-mid settings on Caucasus map :( Thanks for any advice!

What is still broken/missing on the L-39
L-39beeratros replied to GeorgeLKMT's topic in Bugs and Problems
I made a similar post in other thread about L-39, but maybe if I spam it enough devs will stop ignoring the issue :D Lights in L-39 DCS look like this: while in reality they are supposed to look like this: or (taxi, then landing setting) = too bright, cones too wide, color slightly cooler (hard to compare to DCS colors tho) It's a giantic difference and current lights make night flying in DCS very unpleasant. I have no clue if it's an issue with L-39 or DCS, but my money is on the Albatros :) -

Not even the nuclear-explosion-bright landing/taxi lights with wrong light cone shape and wrong color? :)
