  1. Surely those gloves were not the ones issued to pilots? They look so gentlemen-ish :)
  2. Interesting, thanks! I'm even more interested in seeing what it will be like to use it in game now. It just seems to me that in order to steer this thing with any sort of accuracy you would have to get so close to the target that you might as well use a large rocket, something like the russian S-24, or a bomb. But I could be completely wrong, and I hope that I am :)
  3. I don't mean to argue against anything anyone said here about the RB 15F being an almost entirely new missile, but I was reading this page a couple of days ago that seems to hint that at least a part of the reason that it was named RB 15 instead of RB 04 T was for marketing/appearance reasons. http://www.robotmuseum.se/Mappar/0E/Robothistorik/04_Saab_exp/ARM_RB04.htm Just thought it was interesting.
  4. Wow, really? I'm starting to seriously wonder how they ever managed to hit anything with that thing - and why they even bothered, why not just use rockets instead. Will be really interesting to try it in DCS...
  5. Wouldn't the J 35 Draken be quite a good opponent for the MiG-21...? Just saying... :music_whistling: :smilewink:
  6. I was trying to get hold of the flight manual and found the embedded PDF's at page 40-something, but the links weren't working anymore. So could someone who has a copy of it upload it somewhere and post a link to it? Would be much appreciated!
  7. Oh so it's a fixed zoom? I thought it would be variable which is why I wondered if the plane itself had controls for zooming in/out.
  8. Awesome! Can you say if you have been able to confirm that the Viggen actually did support the zoom functionality on the AGM-65's or is it more a case of giving it the benefit of the doubt?
  9. All good points - I agree. And perhaps it's not too far off to say that it's actually mainly an anti-ship plane, and I suspect it will do quite well in that role.
  10. Thinking more about it though - this is not an A-10, it's not for lingering around, it's more of a "one pass - haul ass" kind of aircraft, so I think I can live with the limited loadout :)
  11. I thought you had to have them in pairs because that's the only way I've seen them in various loadout-charts. If one is enough then I guess that helps a bit. I'm somewhat concered in general about the limited loadout of the Viggen though - I mean, I hate to be mr. negative here and rain on everyones parade, but it seems to me that the payload will be very limited if you want some basic counter-measures as well as some basic anti-air capability. Because then you're basically left with a total air to ground payload of 2 or 3 mavericks (or whatever you choose), which is hardly very impressive for an aircraft that is supposed to be a ground pounder. It's also made even worse by the fact that it doesn't have any cannon either. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still SUPER EXCITED about this module and I will buy it as soon as I have a chance. I just wish that the swedish airforce back in the 60's would have decided to give the Viggen the capability to carry a larger payload - I mean it seems like weight is not the problem since it can carry 3 anti-ship missiles, so all they would have needed to do was to buy some of those bi-couplers for mavericks so you can carry 2 per pylon, and get some bigger bombs etc. but no... stupid 60's aircraft designers - didn't they think about gaming in 2016 at all? :)
  12. This is assuming you don't want any counter-measures though, if you do, it would be 2 Aim-9L and 2 Aim-9P. The fact that you have to sacrifice 2 of your most precious pylons just to get counter-measures is one of my biggest gripes with the Viggen :(
  13. Thanks guys, very interesting stuff!
  14. That's very interesting and very informative, thank you very much! Will be interesting to see if you can actually learn to identify (more or less) units depending on this. Too bad there's no indication of strength/range, but I guess I'll just have to make do. Btw, what if you are illuminated by multiple radars at the same time? Does the RWR prioritize which one it shows sort of like the russian RWR or does it show (and play the sounds) from them all at once? Anyone know?
  15. A quick question since there seems to be a lot of very knowledgeable people here: The RWR on the Viggen seems to be pretty basic, have I understood it correctly that it's just the 6 lights around the radar screen and that's it? So you don't get any range/strength indication or indication of type of radar emitter? So it's basically not much better than the one in the MiG21, except you get a slightly better idea of direction because of the 2 extra lights?
  16. Super excited about this. I would have prefered a JA 37, but an AJS 37 is super cool as well. Will definitely buy as soon as it is available. And wouldn't mind one bit paying full price again for a future JA 37.
  17. Any Swedish plane would be awesome. I've never seen a real sim of any of those. Gripen is probably unrealistic since I'm guessing most of it's systems are classified, but a JA 37D Viggen would be super awesome, and a J 35J Draken would be damn cool too.
  18. I'm wondering if I'm basically the only one longing for a DCS module of a Swedish bird (J29 Tunnan / J35 Draken / JA37 Viggen - or even JAS39 Gripen), or if there's anyone else? So here's a poll.
  19. I just have to throw another chip in for the J 35 Draken. I think it would be an excellent match for the Mig21. They are both delta-winged high-speed, high-altitude fighters and I would guess the sensor/weapons systems are very similar in capability as well. I would buy a Draken DCS module in a heartbeat.
