  1. Hello All, so I completed my upgrade and wanted to pass an update. Here is what I went with. MSI Z390 Gaming Plus I7-8700k (currently 4.7 Ghz OC) 32 GB Ram Curcial 1 TB NVME m.2 Ive already seen a noticable difference in performance. I am able to boost my graphics and get even better perofrmance than previously. The NVME is insanly fast! Now I just need to wait for 1080 Ti prices to drop.
  2. Thanks for the info. I think I have decided on a build for now. Going with the Z390 board with the 8700k and I am going to go ahead and upgrade my ram to 32 gigs. I'm likely going to transfer my old board and processor to my wife's computer build. I think part of the problem with my system is I am running a single stick of 16gb ram so I feel like I need to correct that issues anyways. I'm also going to get a 1TB M.2.. probably an 860 EVO. I was wondering if having the OS on the drive with DCS helps it run faster as well. Right now I am going to hold off on the video card until they get a little cheaper, I hear bitcoin is starting to die down so maybe they will drop to more reasonable prices. Thanks again for the advice.
  3. The CPU now is OC to 4.1, its base at 3.5ghz. Does RAM really make a big difference?
  4. Thanks for the advice! I was thinking I would just do the processor and mobo now and wait for the card prices to drop. Good idea with the z390 call, I will probably go that route now.
  5. Hi all, Another person seeking upgrade advice.. I intend to only play in VR. I can't go back to anything else. I am able to play at an acceptable level with the graphics turned down, but I would like to get the graphics better so I can have a better looking smoother experience. Current Specs: i5-6600k MSI z270 Gaming Plus EVGA GTX 1070 16 GB Ram I wanted to do a system overhaul of the CPU MOBO and GPU but I don't know if I am ready to drop that kind of money yet, however, I have been piecemealing my system upgrades so far which has left me frustrated. So now I think I may just go ahead and get it all at once and get it over with so I can not upgrade for a while. My new system upgrades below. i7-8700k z370 Mobo GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2080 Ti (having trouble deciding which one right now..) I have the money to do it all right now, I just cringe at the damn GPU prices.. Any advice on changes? Could I just get by with a GPU upgrade? I do play other games, but I don't have to have perfect FPS. As long as I have a smooth gaming experience that looks good I am good. However, I want the best GPU for VR on DCS. Will GPU prices ever normalize any time soon? Thanks for the help
  6. Can't you look back at old message when you bring it up to type another message?
  7. The kneeboard seems to be the best solution, but I think it is more long term. My idea is to have a kneeboard you can bring up on the map screen and type in or assign waypoints. Almost like a mission planning screen. You could enter waypoints and load them in all aircraft just like creating a mission with the editor. For a little more icing on the cake, you could add another feature to get updated weather reports for aerodromes which would be provided. I know this is asking a lot, but I feel like it is very doable and would be a huge evolution/addition to the game.
  8. Thanks for the info. I actually use the numpad for data entry and it seems to work fine enough. I don't have too much trouble with the mouse right now. They really need to add an interactive kneeboard for VR. Or at least a way to mark waypoints on the map that transfer to the kneeboard. Also providing 3 difference coordinate formats for each of the waypoints. Probably easier said than done, but this would be huge for everyone!
  9. Has anyone found a simpler way to manage entering data in VR? For instance, inputting multiple waypoints into the Mirage INS or the Viggen. It seems like a very painful process right now, and I was going to see if there was an easier way to do it besides looking at the map 50 times and writing everything down and removing the headset several times to look down.
  10. yeah, I agree. There should also be a way to type on the kneeboard to store useful information. Maybe have a kneeboard panel in the map screen as well so you could copy coords. I think this would benefit VR users the most. It is really hard to copy coords down when flying VR.
  11. Hi all, I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but I think it would be cool and useful to be able to load waypoints into the data cartridge using the map. I think this would be especially useful for the Viggen in online play when there are multiple static targets to hit. Is this possible? I think it would be very useful for all aircraft. I know you can manually enter points, but this would reduce some of the time needed to set up a quick mission. thoughts?
  12. Here is my system I-5 6600K H170 MB 16GB 2133Mhz Ram GTX 1070 I just got an 850 EVO SSD and that got rid of the stutters issue.
  13. So just an update, I ended up getting a Samsung 850 SSD and just installed DCS on the new drive. The difference is huge! I used to get stuttering when looking around in VR and when using external views. Now I get zero stutters and it seems to run a whole lot smoother. It also loads faster. Thank you everyone for the tips.
  14. Thanks again, looks like SSD is the way to go now for sure.
  15. Thanks for the advice. That definitely gives me a direction. I didn't realize memory speed was that big of a deal. Guess I need to do some more research. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N915A using Tapatalk
  16. Hi all, A couple of months ago I upgraded my rig so I would be VR ready, see the specs below. I was an idiot and didn't do my research so I got an H170 chipset instead of a Z170 with an unlocked chip. I am now looking into doing another upgrade for about 125 USD to improve performance with the Vive. Any advice on which direction I should go? Currents Specs: I-5 6600K Asrock H170 chipset SSD 120 GB - OS Only 16GB GDDR4 2133 Mhz Ram NVIDIA GTX 1070 Currently running DCS off my non SSD drive 1TB 7200 rpm drive Possible Upgrades I am looking into: 16GB GDDR4 Ram new SSD for DCS & games (not sure what size yet) New Z170 motherboard so I can overclock my CPU Which one of the upgrades would give me the best performance boost for the money?
  17. Glad to know it wasn't just me. Hope it's fixed soon.
  18. I'm not sure if this is a common issue, but I am having cursor problems. With the VIVE I have use mouse selected, however, when I load up the cursor is tied to where I am looking rather than freely moving. Furthermore, I get the blue cross instead of the white dot.

  20. Thank you all for the replies. I am glad some noticed the change. I try to cross the threshold around 380, but sometimes I am around 400. I will have to try at a lower speed. I also completely agree with you chief!!
  21. Hello all, Since the most recent update I've noticed some changes in the way the jet lands. Before, I would keep power in the landing flare and touchdown without major issue. Now, the jet seems to float a lot more in the flare and I feel like I need to take power out before the flare. I still haven't sorted it out yet so I was wondering how everyone else has adjusted their landings. Or am I just going crazy? DRAG

    Cruising speed?

Thanks for the info! I'll try what John said and see how it goes. I did notice it the cruising speed in the manual which is why I thought it was doing something wrong. Seems like I will get better range at the speed I have been flying through.
  23. First post the forum! I've been flying the Campaign missions and I had question regarding cruising speeds. The jet seems to be a hog when loaded with stores. At 16,000ft with the throttle at 95% it seems to hang out around 600 to 650 km/h at a pretty decent AOA to maintain lvl flight. Just wanted to make sure this is normal and that I'm not flying wrong. I don't see how I could be, it just seems a little slow to me, and feel like I am burning up fuel like crazy. Thanks!
