I didn't do that, but I spent 20 minutes in start up only to taxi out, run off the runway to the right (it pulls that way) with Steering Engaged and flip the aircraft trying to recover.

Dooyar Don't forget to check in here. This forum is half the fun. There are, a bunch of guys here with hands on experience with the real Hog. (although I can't tell which ones, because some people memorized the FM) If you don't feel like crackin' the pdf, just ask here. No one will ever say RTFM. Just kidding, some people will. But if you get to page 456 and say, man I just want to slave the SOI, just ask!

Yeah Alpha That pic is a V14 Cineflex active stabilized camera system I sometimes use on a Bell 206 ( I do filming not flying). Good example of military tech reaching into the civilian sector. I think it uses the same R&D as the TGP. I know the system can't be taken into certain countries or exported!
-
That looks awesome. Does that allow you to use all the camera positions in your demo with the one mod?
-
That was a great choice of weapon! I highly concur!

Need to run through the new training session I guess. It's fixed now I think... I thought I did set NAV mode in the CDU, after the "Load All" and test bit and setting "Take off Trim." with. Whenever I have the problem, everything is working - NAV data in the TAD ect...I'll make sure I check that line item again and see if that's my prob. But if I take off, the EAC arms 5-10 minutes into the flight just fine, so maybe it is an alignment problem I'm having.

Can someone steer me in the right direction with the new HARS EGI start-up procedure. I can never get the...I think it's called the ...EAC switch to arm during start up. I get everything on and switch to EGI, but the EAC arm switch on the autopilot panel will not work. But then usually if I take off and fly for about 5 minutes or so, it then allows me to arm it and the EAC caution light goes out. What am I doin' wrong here? Thanks!

You left the lights on, you were like a flying shoot me sign in the sky!

So many of you guys know EVERYTHING about these aircraft in the sims. My experience was A-10 Cuba - wasn't that the Amiga? So when I saw the rope, I was scratching my head. I had no idea it was for charts. But I had the urge to untie it and tidy up a bit. I think that goes with the scratches and scuffs modeled in the textures.
-
Thanks Castle. I knew I wasn't wastin' my time. It's a bungie not a rope. Is that on all Hogs or a throw back to the A version?
-
I just got back from reading the Fn manual on how to tighten the rope holding the instrument panel down. I right option mouse click it, but nothing. The ends are starting to fray. :bounce:

Hi Darklighter. For Mk.82 Airs I would go with the ol CCIP. For CCRP, the way I do it is, use the TAD target steerpoint or your manually set HUD TDC SPI as a ref to slave the TGP to get in the general target vicinity. Then, use the TGP to zoom in, switch to WHOT and look around for a target. Don't forget to zoom in farther with the WIDE/NARROW mode. Then make your newly found target SPI.

Yeah but it looks and sounds cool. To me, at least. Plus, on the bright side, now I have a profile pic I'll call "Aardvarking" it. I think there would be a psychological impact on the truck park.

I have a very old set of sticks, yet whenever I start up I never touch the actual sticks until I throttle up to taxi out. Also, I do not use the sync throttle position at start in options. During the start up sequence, left engine start R-Alt Home and right R-Ctrl- Home, the virtual throttles advance as expected. But I've noticed I do have to carefully press them quickly - left engine start - wait for spool up, RPM to stabilize. Then Right. As a new pilot, this sequence was not as intuitive as the tutorial presented. There is a slight delay from hitting start keys and the spool up. Hitting the keys multiple times, I think can cause further problems modeled in the sim - where one engine will not come up to full RPM. Also, I've noticed that if I hit the right engine start up before the left one is spooled up, sometimes, it will start up delayed - 10-20 seconds later on it's own. Not sure if that is how it works in the real world or not.

MK82 Air Video I made to enjoy some AIR POWER! :clap_2:

Map view is a great tip. For weaning off labels, to make them dots at 4km. I tried editing the view.lau (after changing permissions and saving a back up) and have it so air, ground & navy labels show up at 4000 (4km). Deleted all other ranges, only leaving the one item. But I was unsure of the symbology. Air uses "'" ground uses "|", I think at 4000. But they all look like dots in the sim. Also, I edited the RGB color value of enemy 0,0,0 but they still show up red.
-
Very good points. Those moving into MP should be comfortable without them and could someone point on the way to alter labels to make them the black dots...that sounds perfect for now in SP. Hopefully it's just in a config file we can edit? On the subject of entering a CAS mission, Is there a good way to identify friendlies if not using JTAC? I've tried with JTAC and called a contact only to have them yell "Those are friendlies!" or something like that. Yikes!

I've got about 24 hours in the air with the sim, and I started thinking about labels. I've been playing with them on. But there is no way I could have been so successful without them - finding enemy ground units. Not just labels but the little red dots that proceed them. What's the general though on this, should we turn them off once we get comfortable to experience reality a little more faithfully? In this case, I assume relying on JTAC and mission briefings, or long careful TGP scans. Or do labels provide a situational awareness crutch missing from our 2D world view. DB:closedeyes:

Thank You!!!

I am using easy radio and everything's good. But how do I switch to the flight VHF to talk to wingmen once I engage in contacting JTAC? Seems that once I am given a tasking, I can't get out of that radio menu and switch back to the flight. I tried turning the radios off, but still I am unsure of the proper radio sequence HOTAS switches and "\" key.

Just got back from reading the manual. How do I turn on the nose wheel forward spot light? All other external lights work.

Thanks for all the hard work chasing down the bugs and troubleshooting and making improvements! It shows! You guys rock.

OK EtherealN, I'll try to do some more testing. In the 64 bit version, It seems like as mission time goes on frame rate degrades more and more. I am wondering what obvious improvements I should see using 64 vs 32 bit versions, should it be a noticeable improvement in terms of speed? Or is it that just a couple of graphics options are diff? I only have the 64 bit OS, but both binaries of the sim to try.
-
I have both on my machine ,I'm trying to see what the differences are in the game (I assume x86 is 32 bit version) I am running Windows 7 64bit on an i7 system with 6 GB Ram and Radeon HD 5700 with TrackIR. Why is it that I get almost double the frame rate on the x86 binary with settings the same? With medium options at 1080 I get around 40fps at 10,000 feet on 64bit and it goes down to around 25fps or less as I get below 100 feet with lots of targets or buildings. With x86 the same scene plays around 60-65fps I'm thinking it's my Radeon card or Direct X? I have the latest drivers installed.

I think I learned the bump somewhere else and have been frustrated when I don't have the slew rate preset changed and it jumps 50 meters. I knew there must be a simple explanation. Thanks all OK I tried it, that is way easier!
