  1. I've been having a similar issue with my GTX660. I had assumed it was a problem with putting the voltage too high. Will try your suggestions to compensate for the drop and see if it works. Thanks
  2. I've just made the jump over to standalone from steam. It's all explained here for those who are interested. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113587 The only downside is you need to do the same for the Beta and if like me you use mods then you need to apply those to both installs.
  3. Nice POV of an F18 slot check on the USS George H. W. Bush
  4. So this is a novel re-use of some jet engines! Video and article here Anyone tempted to mod this? :D EDIT: I realise though I asked jokingly for a mod of this it should probably have been put in the chit-chat section. Can a moderator please move this? Thanks
  5. Hey, I appreciate you sharing that. Also trawling through past posts I found an old video (I'm sure many of you have seen before) called Art of the Kill Though I understood some of the principals described I actually didn't understand fro ma physics POV how they worked (physics was never my strongest subject) and this made understanding situations clearer to me. It's available to watch N1tch
  6. Thanks again Blaze
  7. Thanks Blaze. I appreciate the link and yes specific questions should hopefully start coming the more I improve. One of the issues I've found with a forum that has been going for such a long time is doing basic searches for information when I don't have a specific question on improving has so far proven over whelming with threads. EDIT - I tried the link and it says "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." Thanks again
  8. Hi all, I'm slowly improving with the F15 and flying CAP for ground forces on multiplayer servers however I'm wondering if there are any good youtube tutorials / videos going over how best to handle different engagements. I know some basic principals but would love to learn more advanced maneuvers and the situations you should use them in. I appreciate this is not necessarily F15 specific but I thought I'd start here. Thanks for reading N1tch.
  9. Haha exactly, when the red mist descends and all your focus is on killing that 1 target. Or for me it's the fixation on the target I'm gun running and ignoring the pull up signals or like you say the tracers flying at me :helpsmilie:
  10. Exactly why I do it. Though I appreciate now you can do a flight alignment I've got to the point where once I've done everything else I still have around 1 minute to wait for alignment so I spend that time in the DSMS setting up laser codes for the GBU12s. I still think ED should model some ground crew model holding on to the wing or the ground power cable trailing behind if you pull away while it's still on
  11. I realised a new bad habit. I don't use mark points and I know this would make me far more efficient.
  12. DCS Standalone vs DCS on Steam Hi all, I've currently got DCS World on Steam with a few modules. I'm debating if it's worth moving over to the standalone or not. I'm planning on modding DCS and as JSGME suggests to disable all mods before updating using the standalone makes more sense (unless I disable auto downloads on steam I guess). What are peoples opinions or does it just come down to personal preference? Thanks
  13. Just wanted to thank the OP for this great post. Really clear instructions and explanations! Thank you. I'm really looking forward to enhancing my DCS World experience!
  14. I just realised I joined the forums a few days ago and never bothered saying hello here. Anyway Hello! I've play flight sims for years on and off, have very fond memories of some pretty old ones that I grew up on like Jane's US Navy Fighters, Super Huey, Gunship 2000, B17 Flying Fortress, F16 Fighting Falconm, EF2000 and many more. (basically form the Amiga up I think) I tried DCS about a year ago and got semi into it but only on the SU25. Then I think I got the A10C in a steam sale, after initially struggling with it I enjoyed it and then for some reason took a break. Decided to give it a whirl again a few months back and ended up buying FC3 also. :joystick: I now have a TM Warthog, rudder pedals and my TrackIR5 arrives today. I think it's safe to say this time the bug bit and took hold :D I'm thoroughly enjoying flying and learning new techniques (and remembering old ones) and have gravitated towards playing almost exclusively on MP servers rather than solo. I'm looking forward to possibly flying with some of you in the future and being involved in this community! :pilotfly: N1tch
  15. Hi, Very late to the party but I'd love to help test this out if you're still looking for willing guinea pigs? EDIT - Just saw you're into public beta and so I've downloaded it and will be trying it out tonight :D Sgt.Baker, might I suggest you edit the original post at the start of this with a link to the public beta and your website? N1tch
  16. Hey, I love the look of this however I'm not able to download the version on the front page. "HawgTouch 1.5 with Gauge Pack 1.3 [1.5MB] [Download]" I get a connection timed out message. Anyone know if the files are hosted anywhere else or someone is willing to host them up to download them? Thanks N1tch
  17. Hey, I'm just about to receive my TrackIR and very much looking forward to setting it up and playing (and retraining my brain to use it). I just wanted to say thank you to Invisibull for saying what they used to fix the issue in the original post. I immediately looked up and downloaded Joytokey so that I can solve this issue once I'm up and running. :D
  18. Last night I took a fairly new player through their paces in an A10C of how to use a TGP, use Mavericks, laser guided bombs (including setting their laser codes) and using side winders in a non-threat training mission. I had a lot of fun doing it and it was all live streamed! You can see it HERE! If you have feedback on how I'd teach I'd love to hear as I'd like to improve. I might make a more regular thing of teaching players live also. Oh the first 30 minutes are silence because I used an unlicensed music track so sorry about that. I managed to dump my stores (still not sure how) by accident as did my student so you don't really miss anything in the first 30 minutes.
  19. Congratulations to the winners! :D
  20. Haha. Yep TGPing a target, slewing the mav to it, coming in range and trying to release without the weapon selected. Also last night I left the APU and APU Gen on for the whole sortie until I came to shut everything down.
  21. Hey, I just assumed you were either quite young or possibly a girl but your age and gender has no relevance to the stream (at least to me anyway). I enjoyed it :D N1tch
  22. These are great bad habits you're all sharing. Thanks! Gun run and target fixation I know has happened to me on many times! Actually another one is on the 104th being over the next target area (accidentally) as it triggers in the mountains and having a Tor engage me almost immediately. That's a pretty bad habit I've managed to avoid the last few missions.
  23. Yes I saw Schnarre doing that the other day. I'm going to from now on. Stops me having to warn people as they enter also.
  24. Great idea Schnarre! So here are some details on me - Stream channel - http://www.twitch.tv/n1tch What I stream - DCS World (FC3, A10C) almost exclusively on multi-player servers (and I stream other games as well of course) Schedule - I generally start at 8pm GMT on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings (and vary what I stream) though Mondays are when I stream on KSPTV instead of my own channel. Sundays tend to end up being an afternoon stream also. Just give the channel a follow and you'll be alerted to when I'm streaming if in doubt though ;) A little about me - I've been streaming for some time now, I love engaging with viewers and I don't mind back seat gaming. In fact I encourage it when I'm not doing something correctly! My youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/n1tchTV/ There isn't so much DCS content there but this will be changing over the coming months. More info - I love to fly with other like minded people who take the game seriously but not necessarily themselves. If you'd like to fly with me on or off stream don't be afraid to get in contact.
  25. I missed that clearly. Thanks very much for the infor Cpt. Rookie and I'll close this particular post. Thanks again N1tch
